ps5 + osx/mac
I have found the audio quality to be a good step up from my Bose QCs & Airpod pros, the sound feels much more similar to open back headphones. The natural EQ is much flatter than I expected for a gaming headset, which makes it much nicer to listen music or movies on. The usb DAC does not suport high res via OSX/Macs but there is less latancy than via bluetooth, although it is hard to notice any latancy with any modern setup. I suspect the DAC is holding the headset back, so if you are after anything similar to hi-fi it than look elsewhere. The ear cups balance the low clamping pressure nicely, so long sessions should not be a problem. I've only had it for a few months now and battery life is good, I've charged it once a week and never run out of battery. I have not used the hanging recharger, but if I had the deskspace that might nice. I've never had any problems using it with the PS5 or OSX, everything worked out of the box and I've had no dropped signal. However I have had issues changing between the devices as the USB DAC is fragile. If you are moving between devices becareful otherwise the casing can come apart. It snaps back in together easily, but it does mean I probably won't change it over every day. I might try using end up using a usb dock/hub to change devices with them if it starts to be a real problem, but something to be aware of if you plan to move it between devices. The headset itself does feel slightly fragile as well but if you take care and don't drop it all the time or throw it on a desk, it'll be grand. When reading online reviews the major negative called out was in the mic, I'm not sure if they've updated the model or firmware since the release reviews but it is miles better than I expected. In mic check recording and during calls/meetings, it has been clear and sounds fine to my ears. My eldest child yells at what feels like max volume via the mic when gaming with friends as well, and it seems to handle those outbursts without too much clipping. Overall I'm impressed!

Even better than I expected
I bought this after a few years of having the PlayStation Gold headset. The setup was really easy, just plug the USB dongle into your PS5 and you’re ready to go! It took a few attempts to link it to my iPhone, but I think that was more of a “me” problem. All of my friends have been amazed at the improvement in my mic quality on party chats. Sure, this is more expensive than the previous Sony headset, but from my experience so far I’d say it’s worth it. The extendable mic is really good, audio quality is great, it feels comfortable on my head and the fact it can seamlessly connect to your phone and your console at the same time is a really cool feature.

Bad
The sound quality is solid but as you've probably seen, the device is plagued with disconnection issues. I've had several over the course of a week and there appears to be no fix on the way. Sony is quiet on why this is so I wouldn't expect any firmware updates soon. Annoyingly, each disconnect requires you to insert the dongle again. I often find that doesn't work all the time, so then I have to turn off the PS5 and boot it again. I wish I saved the packaging and returned it. This was a complete waste of money. Why is it disconnecting in the first place? It's hard to say. Could be the included Bluetooth USB being faulty or the ports on the PS5 being inadequate. Either way, the disconnection problem is terrible for a device of this price point (or any headset, frankly). Avoid it unless you feel like taking a pricey gamble on whether you'd have these issues or not. I'd recommend saving the money you would've spent on this and look at other headphones.

Surprisingly Comfortable & Great Sound – A Hit with My Son (and Me!)
I bought this headset for my son, and he absolutely loves it — but I have to admit, I ended up testing it out myself… and I was seriously impressed. I’m usually very picky when it comes to audio gear — I personally use the Bose QuietComfort Ultra, which is basically the gold standard in comfort and noise cancellation. But this Pulse Elite from PlayStation genuinely holds its own, especially considering it’s primarily a gaming headset. ✅ What I Love: • 🎧 Super comfortable – the ear cups don’t touch my ears directly, which is a huge deal for me. I’ve had issues with Sennheiser in the past where pressure caused discomfort over time. This? No issues at all. • 🔇 Noise isolation is decent even though it’s not active noise cancelling like Bose. • 🔊 Sound quality is great for gaming — the spatial audio gives a nice sense of immersion, especially in fast-paced or story-heavy games. • 🖥️ Works well on both PS5 and PC – easy setup and switching. • 🔋 Battery life is excellent – easily gets through long gaming sessions without worry. ⚠️ Minor Notes: • 🎤 The microphone is solid, but not on the same level as dedicated podcast or streamer mics — perfectly fine for casual gaming, though. • 🎨 Design-wise, it’s sleek but may look bulky to some. Personally, I like it. 📝 Final Thoughts: For a gaming headset, this really surprised me. It’s not just for kids or casual use — it’s well-built, has great audio performance, and the comfort is genuinely top-notch. If you hate ear fatigue like me, this is a winner.

Amazing tech
This gaming headset has completely exceeded my expectations! Right from the start, the sound quality is phenomenal—crystal clear audio with deep bass that really brings games to life. Whether I’m playing an intense FPS or enjoying immersive RPGs, I can hear every detail, from footsteps to distant explosions, which has definitely given me an edge in competitive play. The comfort is another major plus. I’ve worn this headset for hours during long gaming sessions, and it still feels lightweight and comfortable. The memory foam ear cushions are soft and fit perfectly over my ears, and the adjustable headband ensures a snug, secure fit without any pressure or discomfort. The microphone is top-notch as well. My friends and teammates have noticed a huge difference in the clarity of my voice—no more muffled sound or background noise. The mic is flexible and easily muted with a simple switch, which is super convenient. On top of all that, the build quality feels solid and durable, yet the design is sleek and stylish. Overall, this headset has been an absolute game-changer for me, delivering amazing audio, comfort, and performance. I highly recommend it to any serious gamer looking for an upgrade!

Don't believe the Hype
For £130 these are poor both in terms of build and sound quality. Firstly the build quality the right hand earcup is loose compared to the left which has a tightness and stays in position, whereas the right has no tightness meaning the earcup flaps around and feels loose. If you look where the right earcup connection is, it's right under the usb c input, so probably no room for the mechanics to stabilise that earcup, or I've got a bad headset. The sound is ok if your used to the original pulse, but try and add bass beyond 3.5 notches on the eq and these crackle which is dreadful, and that's at two notche's below full volume. Sure if you take bass out they perform clearly enough and have detail, but are planar magnetic drivers really suitable for gaming? You get a charge cradle which has to be nailed to a wall or cabinet, not the best, although it does double as a dual sense charger too, if your a master balancer of plates . Overall I feel ripped off as the sound is not as good as reviewers lead you to believe.

inexplicable disconnection issues between headset and PS link adaptor.
This is the second pair and I have returned them both for the same problems. although I like these headphones they failed to operate effectively. The link between the headset and the PS Link adaptor failed during game play and would not reconnect. Followed all the guidance and instructions offered by Sony but to no avail hence the return and refund request. This is probably the worst piece of technology I have purchased. I will seek an alternative from one of Sony’s competitors

Good upgrade over the original Pulse 3D.
I had the original Pulse 3D headset. This one is much the same in how you set it up. Just plug the dongle in the back of your PS5 etc. Compared to the original Pulse, perhaps the change you notice the most is the comfort. The ear pads on this are light years ahead of the Pulse 3D. It feels far softer and more comfortable. I could never go back... Sound quality is as you've heard in reviews. Clear and crisp, although I can't say Sony's lossless audio and fancy drivers are massively better than my Arctis 7X+ headphones I use with Xbox and PC. The Sony's are more comfortable and do have a different sound profile. Probably not as much bass but with better mids and highs. Again, no surprise to anyone who has watched reviews on YT. When talking about those differences, we are only differentiating with small variations (almost nitpicking differences for the sake of it) and either headset would be appreciated by most users. I find these headphones very pleasant overall, both in terms of sound and comfort. I have open back wired Sennheisers that I think sound better and are more comfortable (and the same price), but a PS5 joypad isn't able to power them. These Sony's are wireless which means closed back (due to the battery), so that's not a fair comparison. They are probably my favourite wireless headphones to date, and suitable for a wide array of games. Very low fatigue too.

Un petit bijoux made in SONY
