POWERTEC 71834 Deep Switch Box with Hardware for POWERTEC Switch Compatibility - 71007, 71651, 71054, 71577

I can verify this box is 2-3/16" deep and will work with a Powertech Paddle Switch 71054. No clue why other reviewers state that the depth is a problem. They must be using large spade connectors? There's about 5/8" of depth in the box without using the spacers. Anyway good quality - thickness of plastic is good. seems durable enough for use in a home shop.

Very tight box by the time you get your switched wired up it's hard to get everything positioned where your wires aren't cramped up. Overall it looks nice but not real impressed with the size or quality for the price.

Yeah, I got it to work, but as received this box doesn't fit their own listed switches. Other reviews back this up. My switch is the 71008, which isn't mentioned in the product listing, but *is* listed as compatible on both the packaging and the instruction sheet. Two problems: 1️⃣ The corner radius on the switch differs from the corner radius on the box, with the result that the switch cover doesn't fit onto the box, because the box corners are too square to fit over. 2️⃣ The included nylon spacers aren't thick enough by about 1mm. This results in the switch sitting too low under the cover and causes inconsistent contact and travel between the cover buttons and the internal switch buttons. I did get it to work by filing material off the box corners and adding additional washers under the spacers. But these are supposed to be compatible parts from the same manufacturer! Please fix.

The switch this box is made for, the 71007v i think it is i bought is rated all the way up and over 16 amps. The machine i am installing it on had a motor rated at a little over 11 amps. The current motor is 6.4 amps. The cables on the machine are 12/2 awg wire. This box the fittings that are included are for a maximum of 14/3. Yet the switch is rated for well over 16 amps. On the switch itself it says at 120v it can handle 35 amps. So why cant i use 12/2 cable? I will modify the box for the 3/4 fittings since it has moulded cut outs on the box. I should give it a 4 star but we will see after its installed.
