Excellent tester. It help me a lot to troubleshooting on the VAVs for my BAS job. It's means that I did found the problem that I had when I use the IP Address discover.

It is the basic tester and easy to operate. Plug into the correct jack on the meter for the test you want to make. Each jack is labeled for the test it is to be used for. Simple and easy with a clear display.

This product has saved me hundreds of dollars and countless troubleshooting hours. It has helped me find faults, cut lines, crossed wires aswell as identify active ethernet drops. It is very versatile and essential for all ethernet repairs. That being said, it is important to familarize yourself with the tool before actually starting the repairs. Otherwise it will frustrate you and or give false readings. Pay attention to the ports aswell because each port is associated to a different program within the device. Once you get over the learning curve, this item will be your best friend and a big hit when impressing your in-laws by troubleshooting their ethernet issues.

For the money, this is a great piece of gear with a variety of functions. The ability to blink the port light on the switch is super-handy, as is the tone and probe function. The verification and POE voltage measurement is welcome, as well. For verification, I think this is one of the best products available. Sure, it doesn't certify the run, but that's a very expensive piece of equipment. The battery more than lasted through a full day of use, and all of the runs that I verified with this tool have worked without any issues.

the screen scratches if you breathe on it funny. right out of the box, there was no screen protector film on it. and a slight scratch, so i grabbed a microfiber cloth and gave it a wipe, and now it's all scratches. everything works fine, but now having a screen scratched all up is kinda ass not 30 seconds out of the box.

Good Quality

I bought this to replace my fantastic old Test-Um NT700 that I used for years. Unfortunately no reputable brand produces affordable network testers anymore like the old Lanscaper line of testers. Plenty of cable continuity testers, but none that can also do basic network diagnostics. These cheap overseas units seem to be the only games in town. We'll see how long it lasts for. Pros: Works pretty well to check network cables for valid wiring, continuity. Does basic network testing DHCP, Ping, port speed, POE presence detection. Has a tone generator for locating wires in a bundle. Fairly easy to use. Cons: Could not get wire length measurement to work. Tone generator pickup seems to only play sound after it detects the signal, so there's always a delay. Would be useless for quickly finding the right wire in a bundle of cables. I much prefer a tool where I push a button and it sounds continuously as I move it across the wires to search for signal. You're always having to move the cable to a different jack on the tester. There are three different RJ45 jacks that each do different things. Continuity test, length test, switch port and POE testing all use different jacks. Fortunately the screen tells you which one to use. But it's a pain. The old Test-um could do everything with one port. Verdict: Useful and affordable pro-sumer tool, replacing a cable tester and tone generator with one unit.

This device doesn't test half of what it shows and the other half didn't work. The Continuity test works, but doesn't show which end the break is at. The length test had a random pair 30 feet longer than the rest. The Ping/PoE/Link flash didn't work at all on any of the 3 switches I tested with. It just showed "timed out". Returned.
