I just received this yesterday so have limited use with it. I did try to use the mandrel as an anvil to size up a double splinted silver ring. The mandrel held up fine, although I’m concerned the sizing is engraved slightly further down the mandrel than it should be. Honestly, I haven’t put my trusted size rings on it to compare yet. I exclusively used the hammer. It did alright, although I was surprised that the yellow side that I expected to be an acrylic or similar was actually a soft clear yellow silicone/ plastic. It’s as soft as the black rubber side, so I didn’t get the metal spread I was looking for without a denser side to the hammer. Additionally, I ended up picking off a few black rubber shavings off my ring, so this hammer may not be a long term investment but should hold up for a bit- depending on your mileage & materials you hammer. I haven’t sized the rings that came with the set on my correctly sized mandrel (which I cannot locate & why I purchased this set). I slipped one on to try it out & a bur on the inside wasn’t ground down & it surprised me when I was expecting a smooth fit & just about sliced my finger instead. I inspected the other rings and found only a few others have the same problem, so I’ll just file them down with my dremel grinder tool. Overall, I still think this is a decent “work” set for the price point. It all came in a great zip vinyl storage bag, it all fits without a struggle, and the mandrel was shrink wrapped for protection from the other tools in shipping. As long as I know the mandrel is off a bit, I will still be able to use it for my working purposes (I’ll engrave in the correct size lines), but not with the public. The rings are good quality, comfortable, with easier to read sizes stamped (not engraved) on the tab, e.g: 6, 6- (6.5), 7, 7-, etc. I even like the black sizing band which will be handy figuring out if someone needs an open back or adjustable ring for a finger that’s sized smaller than their PIP knuckle. I needed a work mandrel last minute & this worked out! 💪 👍🏻 I do suggest only working with wire & soft metals, otherwise you might shred the hammer & scratch up the mandrel.

It seems to be well made, and there are multiple ways of checking the right ring size. This has all the tools you need. Plus they look like they are very good quality. Definitely recommend.
