Excellent, well-written book by a classic undergraduate physics textbook author much loved by students. The last word in the book is "gullible", which is the author's favorite double-bluff joke.

I have learnt Quantum Mechanics many years before and I used this book as a reference when I teach the advanced atomic physics course. So far, I have not seen any book like this. For introducing the basic concepts and mathematical technique of elementary quantum mechanics, it is the best.

I have previous Math and Physics knowledge but my studies didn't include the field of Quantum Mechanics, I did choose this book as a self study reference and I enjoyed learning the new topic with it. I recommend it for any one having a good konwledge of Math and Physics as a starting book. It allowed me to consult further readings and explore more topics.

Introduction to Quantum Mechanics By David J. Griffiths First Edition, Hardcover Size (Roughly): 24 x 17 x 3 centimeters. Book sold by "1UP Video Games, Books & DVDs" on Amazon. Announced in "Acceptable" condition with the next description: Foxing and spots on side of book.\ The book is in excellent condition, would buy again from this seller. Griffiths is a known author by many physicist around the world, consider by many as the best introductory book on quantum mechanics for an undergraduate student. The true is, there is not a correct answer, and there are plenty of books out there that might be a better option to any of you. Also, you need to understand there is not one book in any topic that'll teach all there is to a subject. In quantum mechanics different references are needed to understand the different interpretations there exist. There are some things that this book does great, and it is teaches you why the wave equation is important in QM. The first equation is Schrödinger equation, with not a try to formulate this or to justify its particular form. On the second chapter it solves the classical examples, which are particular cases where the Schrödinger equation has an analytical set of solutions. It's on chapter 3 where there's some formalism. Chapter 4 is on quantum mechanics in 3 dimensional systems and how you write the mention equation in spherical coordinates. This is applied to the Hydrogen Atom and has a brief discussion on angular momentum in QM. And to conclude the first part there's chapter 5 on identical particles and the easiest of this systems is a two particle system. The second part of this text it's on applications, starting with time independent perturbation theory which is a common method applied to approximate solutions to Schrödinger's equation. Chapter 7 covers the variational principle an alternative method applied to the study the ground state of a system. Then there is the WKB (Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin) Method, time dependent perturbation theory and the adiabatic approximations, the final chapter goes into the basis of scattering. This book is lacking the formalism of Dirac that is fundamental in Quantum Field Theory, particle physics or even Quantum Mechanics at the graduate level. There's nothing on Heisenberg's picture of Quantum Mechanics. A good book, but not a stand alone to study quantum mechanics, you'll 100% need another reference to complete this one.
