This cage is perfect for two fancy pet rats. But assembling the cage is a great challenge when you have older hands that don't work well. So I got some Zip Ties and it's much easier than the 24 pieces that it comes with.

I've been using this cage for about three months, first for three female mice and then for a single male mouse. None of them showed any interest in chewing on the plastic connectors, and the bar spacing is good, though I probably wouldn't trust babies in it. I was a little nervous about putting my male mouse in there because he's a small, hyper escape artist, but it's been totally fine. The only thing I had to do was bend one of the doors to eliminate a gap where it was bowing out a bit from the cage, but I was able to do that with just my hands and I'm not particularly strong. I also have a Prevue 528, I like the door on that one better than this cage because it's easier for me to open one handed, but opening the door on this one isn't that much harder. Other than that I like this cage better - lots of space, similar to the 528 but with a more convenient footprint, great opportunities for running around and climbing, and the vertical height makes it easier to fit my 10" Niteangel running wheel, which I put on one of the shelves so I can easily remove, clean, and replace it. The doors are huge, which also makes cleaning and general access easy. There's such a shortage on good wire cages suitable for mice, I'm very happy with this one.

This product is stupid. It’s a great cage but if you know if for a small pet why would you made four Corners that have 4 long gaps that are wide enough for them to fit through? Don’t buy your mice and possibly rat could escape. Definitely not for hamsters , gerbils !

I purchased this cage as a transition/quarantine/hospital cage for my rats. I was getting new babies and needed a bigger quarantine cage until they could be introduced to my older girls in my Double Critter Nation. For reference sake the babies in the pictures are 5 weeks old to give you an idea of size. This is a decent size and if you are familiar with a single critter nation it is only slightly smaller. The base is deep enough to put about 4” of substrate (Aspen or Hemp). Assembly was a bit difficult at first. The clips that hold the sides and top together were challenging to figure out, but once we did, it was easy to put together. The bar spacing is very small so little guys and gals can’t escape, HUGE BONUS! My only real complaint about this cage is the doors. They are too small and hard to open ( that might become easier as it is used) But that is because I am spoiled and use to the ease of the critter nation doors. Because of the door size decorating can be more challenging. It does have a door on top as well so you can use that if you don’t hang anything from it. As this is not a permanent cage it is fine for now. My suggestion is if you are looking for a permanent cage go with the critter nation. This is a decent cage and I would recommend it to use for temporary situations like when you are cleaning out your big cage or quarantining new babies or need to separate some for any reason. Exactly what I wanted! I have two large male rats that started fighting last year and I struggled to find something comparable to the size and shape of my Critter Nation habitat so they would each have plenty of space to exercise. This is a great size for my grumpy loner. I only have one platform in right now to make sure the incline is okay before I add the other. It's sturdy and came together easily. It appears easy to clean. It's definitely not a good habitat for tiny guys that could get their arms/heads wedged in the corners. Overall I'm very happy!

I was hesitant to purchase this cage since it was a new product and didn't have any reviews. My mouse was in a 20 gallon long aquarium which was fine but it felt cramped do to the long and narrow dimensions. I was attracted to the deep tray, squarish footprint and height of this cage. The depth of the base and corner spacing were worries. Happily the base is deep enough for lots of bedding and the corners are narrow enough for my adult mouse. Pros Lots of space Easy to clean 2 large doors Solid wide shelves and ramps Deep tray Squarish dimensions that provides lots of opportunities to change the layout and arrangement of toys and enrichment. Cons Hard to put together. The clips in the corners are tricky to use and the corners aren't flush. Young mice could escape. My mouse LOVES this cage and is so much more active. He zooms around all the levels and really enjoys the vertical height.

It's an O.K. cage, good size, lots of run and play room. HOWEVER, if you have rats that love to chew plastic, those little clips that hold the sides together don't work.

I recently purchased this cage to house 2 male baby rats. It's spacious, doesn't have wire mesh to cause bumble foot, and has nice narrow bar spacing. It was a bit more complicated to assemble for me than previous cages I've bought, but my 18 yr old son had no problems figuring it out. Overall, I happy with this cage.
