Small Microwave With Fewer Compromises
First week of ownership and it is great right out of the box. This is the first small microwave I have owned that fits where I need it but does not feel like a downgrade or compromise. Attractive, solid, quiet, this Sharp unit heats very evenly. Though it is compact and not much bigger on the outside than our old 700W Black & Decker, this 900W Sharp has a bigger interior and a larger turntable so it handles larger bowls and plates. It heats more thoroughly and evenly in 1/3 to 1/2 the time. That little increase in wattage from 700 to 900 seems to result in vastly improved cooking power with no more cold spots! Can't speak to longevity or durability as I haven't had it that long. At almost twice the price of my old microwave I am hoping it lasts (the other one still worked after three years but the interior paint was peeling!). This Sharp seems well made though it is not particularly heavy. It has all the features I wanted: more powerful without being bigger, single button reheat, defrost, vegetable button for frozen or fresh, two-stage cooking, Express minutes buttons, + 30 second button. All are working great out of the box. Packaging was solid so the unit was in perfect shape upon arrival and was easy to unbox and set up on my own. Few small microwave models seem to be highly rated by Consumer Reports and the few that were did not have express buttons or a +30sec button and I can't go back to a time of not having those features as I use them all the time. Another important factor for me is the ability to disable and turn off the child lock on this microwave. We neither have nor host children so the idea of having to go through extra steps to open the door of the microwave every time seems like a punishment. The new machines with handles have a physical mechanism you must grab/engage every single time (kind of like on a disposable lighter) so this push button machine having the ability to permanently electronically disable the child lock using a keypad code seemed the way to go. That said, there are some reviews that say the lock button fails on some Sharp models so we have fingers crossed this unit does not experience that. Despite the slightly higher cost than other makes, I think this unit is a good value considering it has so many features and performs above most others in the small microwave class. It feels like a huge step up from the B&D and as we use it often it gives a big boost to meal prep/quality. It is a pleasure to use. The interior light is LED and a bit cold white for my taste but it also will probably last longer than old fashioned bulbs and consumes less power so no harm no foul. Highly recommend this Sharp microwave and so far would buy again.

Great & compact
Great microwave. Looks good with my other ss appliances . Fits a full dinner plate . Cooking , defrosting seems even . Takes 3 inches less space than my old one and doesn't compromise on performance . I thought the child lock would be annoying but it's simple to open and u didn't disable it . Can't vouch for longevity yet but find this microwave to be perfect fory needs while being compact and taking less room up on my countertop . Nice finish , doesn't look cheap . As of now , would purchase it again !

Well made. Quiet operation and open/close. Noticeably slower cook time than 1000W.
This is a nicely made item and is smaller than previous versions. This is something like my third or fourth Sharp Carousel microwave, and I like them a lot, in part because they last long and in part because of the carousel. Not all microwaves come with a carousel. My previous Sharp was 1000 watts, and I decided to go with the 900 because I figured it would not be that much of a difference in cook time. It kind of is, in my mind, and if I had to do over, I would probably go back to the 1000 watt. But I wanted the smaller size, so... Everything has its good and bad. But I like this microwave because it is quiet when operating and even better, quiet when I open/close the door. My last Sharp microwave, I also got on Amazon and because of that, I could not try it out. When I got it, the open/closing of the door was SO LOUD, I remember writing a negative review about that. This one is nice and quiet. AAAAAAAAH. : ) I haven't had any issues, as expected. Everything works well. The one change from my last Sharp that I don't think is so great in terms of features is that my last microwave had a minute button, and if you wanted any other time, you just push the numbers and "start." This microwave has a 30 sec button and the 1 - 6 numbers are all minutes buttons, as in, one minute, two minutes, up to six minutes. Gee. I doubt most people use the 2 - 6 minutes all that often, and if you want more than 1 minute, you could just push the 1 minute multiple times if there were only a minute button. I would have much preferred just the 1 min and 30 sec buttons and for all of the number buttons to work as before. BECAUSE, now, every time I want to enter anything other than 30 sec and 1 - 6 minutes, I have to push an extra button before entering the time. Just my 2 cents. Regarding the 2 negative comments about the complaints about the turntable not staying in place: 1. There is NO WAY that food would go FLYING everywhere because the carousel turns SLOWLY. For food to FLY, it would need to spin quickly, in which case, you simply request a refund or replacement. I think some people make up negative comments to try to get the product for free. 2. If the turntable does not stay on the bracket, it is USER ERROR. You actually have to LINE UP the plate bottom with the bracket. There are 3 indentations that will keep the plate on the bracket. You also have to set the bracket in the RIGHT PLACE on the microwave floor to keep the bracket in place. I have had at least 3 Sharp Carousels and only if I am careless, does the plate not stay on the bracket! HELLOOOOO Also, there was a negative comment that the door would not open. They might have needed to UNDO the CHILD LOCK protection, which is in the INSTRUCTIONS. For the reviewer who said that the microwave door won't stay open, that would be because the surface that the microwave is on is SLANTED, causing the door to close. HELLOOO 1/2 star ding for the change in design, so 4.5 stars.

Powerful and quiet microwave oven
I tried three other microwave ovens before I settled on this one -- the challenge being to find one that ran quietly enough and that allows the user to turn off all the beeping, so that I could use it at night without disturbing anyone in my household. I returned a Toshiba ML-EM09PA because it was surprisingly loud, and the other models I tried were either noisy or just not very powerful. This Sharp, however, is very quiet and you can disable the beeps completely. Here are all the things I like about it: Much quieter than most microwaves I tried Powerful and heats food quickly and evenly Good capacity inside Aesthetics of the oven. Nice amount of stainless steel on the front, and I like that the sides of the oven are steel-colored rather than black, as was the case with a couple of the other ovens I had tried. Big, easy-to-read buttons Feels solid โ it doesnโt slide across the counter when you open the door The glass turntable stays in place instead of getting knocked off track One small downside: The interior light isnโt very bright Thatโs a minor issue for me, and everything else about this microwave has been great. If youโre looking for an affordable counter top microwave that is quiet, powerful, and has a solid feel, Iโd recommend this one.

Perfect for small spaces! Quiet and plenty of power!
Perfect for small spaces with a small footprint but decent power at 900w. Despite some reviews here it performs as well as our previous 1000w and is quiet when running. Recommend this MW. Our previous was and LG 1000w with same size footprint. Stay away from LG! Lasted only 2 years and their warranty was very misleading and isn't really much of a warranty as they only cover parts and parts can only be obtained by a certified technician so warranty repairs would cost more than a new microwave!

Best little microwave! Highly recommend
Took a lot of searching to finally find this little gem. Kept reading all the reviews on other microwaves and was ready to give up then got to page 3 or 4 of the search results and saw this little worker bee. It is small but mighty and relatively quiet. I thought it couldn't be cooking well as it was so quiet but it does the job in the time you enter. I angled it so it fits nicely into a corner space, but initially had it flush against one wall and it still did not take up a lot of counter space. The child lock mechanism is easy to switch off, if you don't need it. The clock was easy to set and easy to see in darkened room but not glaring. The timer buzzer is not annoying and I think I read (yes, I read the manual) you can turn that off, too, but I haven't tried it as it doesn't bother me. The inside is plenty big enough for largest plates we have. The opening is large and easy to move things in and out. The inside is nicely lined so it is very easy to clean. I wasn't sure about the "Popcorn" programmed timing, but very easy to use and cooked the snack bags perfectly. I recommend this microwave highly!

very bright display, otherwise very nice
I got this because it was slightly more powerful than my old one, but not much larger. It seems to work well, the carosel doesn't pop up or slide around, the child-safe lock is easy to disable, the instructions are clear and it isn't super loud--The sound seems average to me. My only complaint is that the display light is so bright it seems like I geft a light on in the kitchen at night. Some folks might appreciate that--free nightlight!-- but I cover it with a towel at night to dim it. I've only had the product a few days but I've used it several times a day and it works as expected. I would recommend getting it shipped in an amazon box-- I did this and the out box was badly damaged but the manufacturers box and the item were just fine. Without the outer box I think there may have been some issues there.

Broke after six months...maybe I got a lemon?
Just six months, and this microwave failed me. It started making a loud grinding noise and the light was flickering. On one occasion before this failure, it ran down the clock while in use, and started again without me touching it. I thought that maybe I hit a button inadvertently, but perhaps there was an electronic problem from the beginning. I hope that it was a one-off, and we got a lemon. Very disappointed.
