The rendered chicken fat is just part of what makes the sauce. If you look at the ingredients all the way at the bottom under the contents for the chicken, it says chicken meat. I can attest to the fact that these meals are of good quality, and this particular meal does indeed contain pieces of chicken, not just fat.

Long self life, good to eat

I got them in case of an emergency. We had this year already 2 tornado warnings, like never before. We tried one just to see. All in the family liked it! Of course it is not like a home cooked meal but for emergency food with 30 years self life we where impressed.
