I figured this was a worthwhile low-expectations experiment given the risk was less than $30.00 and there's a nearby Whole Foods just in case a return was warranted. So surprisingly, this thing's a value and a keeper in many ways. My advice for this device (I'll call it the "Hex") is don't be in a hurry setting it up. Setting up Carplay with an iPhone isn't necessarily a quick process anyway. And, yes, the instructions are not the best. Fortunately, patient trial and error eventually gets you where you want to be relatively easily. The 7" display (no more compact than most Carplay vehicle displays I've seen and used) works well as a touch screen. Although the built-in speaker could easily suffice for simple uses such as navigation or speakerphone, it's especially worth connecting its audio output to your vehicle's audio system. In my case (a 2015 Subaru), I took advantage of my vehicles "AUX" audio input jack by connecting the provided dual-plug audio cable from the Hex's audio output jack. It was just long enough to comfortably connect into my center console's "Aux" input. Nothing needed to be physically connected to the phone itself. Yeah, this also understandably meant there's a second cable (power) running from the Hex to the (now old-school) cigarette lighter power port. And unless you plan to hard-wire it (via the also provided combination power cord-audio jack) you have no choice. After setting the car's audio system to "Aux" and ensuring Wifi was activated on the phone the Hex quickly connected via Carplay and everything worked. Because I ran the audio in the manner above I was especially pleased with the audio quality through the system. And an FYI: If for some reason you want to use the same setup above as me but your vehicle has no "aux" audio input port, the Hex has one last failsafe just in case with the ability to connect to an open lowest frequency channel on your car radio's FM band. HOWEVER!!! At least in my case, although you can also connect from the Hex via bluetooth to your car system, for some reason I would not hear map app navigation prompts. Was I doing something wrong? Fortunately, with the wired setup above everything worked great. NOTE: There is a very minimal-but-livable latency between the phone and the display with respect to display loading and control functionality. Lastly, and so far after only a couple of days of rigorous use, the windshield mount appears to be both solid and reliable. The suction cup also appears better than most I've used in the past. EVEN BETTER (and fortunately in my Subaru), the very center of the upper dashboard is flat enough to allow the suction cup to acquire an excellent hold as good as if it were connected to the windshield itself. So, if you can somehow connect to the dashboard you not only get more (and safer) windshield visibility, you also get the screen itself able to extend closer to your driving position allowing for easiest reach during the drive. And the arm adjustments from the suction-cup base to the display perform really well allowing for nearly any up / down / near / far positioning angle. Now finally having Carplay in my old Subaru is an absolute game changer because I no longer need to ever touch my phone while driving. Spectacular value for less than $30 bucks in my humble opinion.

I recently purchased the Apple CarPlay Screen, and it has completely transformed my driving experience. This is not just a gadget; it's a game-changer for anyone who spends significant time on the road. From the moment I installed it, I knew I had made the right choice. Here's why: 1. Seamless Wireless Connectivity: The wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration is a dream come true. No more fumbling with cables every time I get into the car. The connection is smooth and reliable, instantly pairing with my iPhone as soon as I start the car. Whether I’m accessing my favorite music apps, navigation, or messages, everything syncs effortlessly. This feature alone makes this screen worth every penny. 2. Crystal Clear Display: The 7-inch HD IPS touchscreen is absolutely stunning. The clarity and sharpness of the display are top-notch, providing vibrant colors and crisp details. Whether I'm following a map, watching a video via Air Play, or browsing through apps, the visual experience is immersive. The touchscreen is highly responsive, making it easy to navigate through menus without any lag. To add on, my friend drives a 2023 Honda Accord and I can safely say that this carplay screen is comparable to those which are already built into these newer cars. 3. Hands-Free Calling and Voice Commands: Safety is always a priority, and this screen ensures that I can keep my hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. The Bluetooth hands-free calling feature is flawless. The built-in microphone picks up my voice clearly, even with road noise, and the sound quality on the other end is excellent. Plus, with Siri integration, I can use voice commands to control almost everything—whether it’s sending a text, setting a reminder, or getting directions. It’s like having a personal assistant with me on every drive. 4. Mirror Link and Air Play: The versatility of this screen is impressive. The Mirror Link feature allows me to mirror my phone’s display on the screen effortlessly, which is perfect for accessing apps that aren't CarPlay compatible. Additionally, Air Play has been a fantastic feature for streaming videos directly from my iPhone to the car screen. Long trips are now more enjoyable, as my passengers can watch their favorite shows or movies without straining to see a small phone screen. 5. Multiple Input Options: This device is incredibly user-friendly with various input options. Whether I want to play music from a USB stick, a TF card, or through the AUX input, the options are all there. The FM transmitter is another bonus, allowing me to broadcast the audio to my car’s speakers if needed. The flexibility to use different media sources ensures that I have all the entertainment I need for any journey. 6. Easy Installation and Portability: I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to install this CarPlay screen. It fits perfectly on my dashboard, and the setup process was straightforward, even for someone like me who isn't particularly tech-savvy. What’s even better is its portability. I can easily move it between different vehicles, making it a great investment for anyone with multiple cars. 7. Sleek Design and Build Quality: The design of this Apple CarPlay screen is sleek and modern, which is probably the nicest thing in my 2010 Nissan Altima. The build quality is solid, and it feels durable and premium to the touch. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into the design, making it not just a functional device but also an aesthetically pleasing one. Conclusion: This Apple CarPlay Screen has exceeded all my expectations. I was skeptical that the design would be able to be compatible with my 2010 car, but it has shown me no issues so far. For under 50 bucks I feel like I have the tech that all the fancy new cars have. It’s packed with features that make driving safer, more enjoyable, and infinitely more convenient. From the seamless wireless connectivity to the stunning HD display, this device has it all. Whether you're a tech enthusiast or just looking to upgrade your car's entertainment system, this is the product to get. Highly recommended!

The directions on this thing were horrible. It was telling you to click on things not even on the screen. Then it had you scan codes that didn't work. It took an hour to set up because we just had to wing it and figure it out. We bought thos for our 16 year old because his 2010 vehicle didn't have Bluetooth. The screen is nice, and it works like his phone. Just need to actually have directions that tell you how to set it up. I was very disappointed and extremely annoyed!!

For the money, this portable Apple CarPlay is wonderful. I have 2016 automobile. Other CarPlay options were so expensive. This is all I need. I have rear camera. It connects to my car automatically. I saw in other reviews to unplug when you leave the car but it does NOT drain the battery. It is easy to use…not everything is in the instruction book but it is easy to poke and play. I would get a few more but it is simple to take from one car and put in a another. I would highly recommend this portable screen to most people. The only con I’ve noticed is the plastic screen holder is a bit weak to hold a heavy screen. It falls off a lot. I decided not to put it on my dashboard. It is placed lower…wear my hand shift it. I prefer it there now.
