Very surprised by the quality sound. Nice soft 'woodwind' feeling constant tone.
I'm comparing these penny whistles to: Clarke original, Clarke Celtic, Generation, Feadog pro and Feadog Standard. I expected a much lower quality when I ordered these. I was very happy and impressed. First, the box they came in is the same quality as an iphone box. with good quality foam inserts for storage. The plastic the whistles are made of...it feels like good quality plastic, not cheap smooth flexible plastic. I don't really know how to describe the texture of them, but the result is that though the whistles are plastic, the sound coming forth is almost wood in nature. So, when I am playing a bright brass type melody, I use the metal whistles, but if I want a soft woody sound, I go for these. Another plus is that it is very easy and forgiving for creating sound. some whistles if you blow softly, you will get the wrong raspy tone, if you overblow and you are in the range between the first and second octave, you get a bit of a chaos sound. These whistles produce a very very constant tone and the finger holes are very easy to cover. Fingers don't slip around on the plastic. The plastic is...again, don't know how to describe it, but it has a grippy texture for your fingers. So this may be a pro in some cases and a con in others, but I really appreciated, when I first started playing...that my irregular unmeasured breath produced a constant tone from these whistles. Going into the second octave does not have that crazed sound in between, you are either in the second octave or your are not in it, it is a very sharp cutoff point. However if you want to vary the loudness of the tone by blowing softly or giving more air...These do not have a large range available. The whistle doesn't make sound if you blow too softly, once you blow hard enough to begin the resonance of the vibrating column of air, the whistle makes a constant nice sounding woody tone even if you are not blowing with a constant air pressure. Very very forgiving for a beginner. But if you want to vary the tone, there is a very very narrow range. Which...is good for some songs but not good in others. Hitting the second octave, immediate, easy, and has the same good quality sound in the second octave. The 2nd octave is not ear-piercingly screechy, they have the same nice woody sound as the lower octave. I have 'tweeked' some of my other whistles. (putting putty in the headpiece to dampen the screech) but tweeking these absolutely unnecessary, they are great out of the box. The only thing I don't like about these is the length of the piece where you put your lips. The headpiece is roughly the same shape that you would find on a recorder. Since these were my first tin whistles, I thought nothing of it, but after having played other types. I'm rather fond of a bit longer head piece. But...This might have something to do with the sound quality, not sure of that bit. The length of the headpiece does not in anyway affect the play, just a personal preference. But thought to mention it. Overall I highly recommend this. Since the kit came with a D and C whistle, I can play in the keys of F, C, G, and D and the associated minor keys. (If you are new to the tin whistle, it is very easy to play the 7 notes of the key in 2 octaves, but you can also flat the 7th or sharp the 5th very very easily without having to half-cover holes.

Incredible!!!
Wow!!! I've played whistle professionally for 26 years and performed with Sinead O'Conner on the Tonight Show, and I can say without hesitation that this is far and away the best whistle for the money that I've ever played. In fact, it's one of the best whistles for ANY money I've ever played - And this was $20 for a set of 2!! Flawless tone and pitch, even across all registers, balances perfectly in the hand, light as a feather, tunable - How do they do it?? I bought this for a last-minute session with a Grammy-Award-Winning songwriter, and was just hoping it was concert pitch - I was NOT expecting an incredible instrument! If I could give this 10 stars, I would!!

Great Quality for a cheap price!
I had never played a tin whistle and randomly decided to order one to learn. It's not like a recorder, in that it takes a little more finesse and percision to play. It sounds really good and I'd say it's a pretty good buy if you're like me and want to learn a new instrument in your free time!

Worth it.
Very durable, and since it's a wide bore flute, very loud. The tone is quite pure. The only downside is that the c natural fingering (oooxxo) is very out of tune, so you will have to go with the (ooooou) fingering instead. Otherwise great product, and I play it whenever I get the chance.

Musical Jewels in the keys of D and C
My Sondery whistles in the keys of D and C made of imitation goldplated copper with a precise plastic head are gorgeous (they do look impressive like orchestra musical instruments) and deliver a beautiful pennywhistle tone with very good articulation, intonation and require little air to play both octaves (the low register is easy and solid as is the second octave). The upper register on the C whistle is a bit airy which, in my opinion, adds character to the tone. Whereas on the D Whistle it is quite clean and plays like a breeze requiring little air pressure. I really like it. Both whistles are beginner-friendly and also suitable to intermediate and advanced players looking for that classic, unique and charming pennywhistle tone we love so much. I certainly do. Besides, one can play any musical genre on them, the sky is the limit. They came well protected in a plastic telescopic carrying case inside a cardboard box. All in all, they are pennywhistles to play and cherish. I love playing them.

Piping hot
I started going to Irish sessions, so I bought these as beginner whistles to learn on. I keep getting compliments from veteran players that it looks nice with the flared gold feature on the bottom, that it has a good tone, that the mouthpiece looks like [insert recognizable brand name I'm oblivious to]. Based on their feedback, this seems like a really good quality instrument, especially for the price. Pro-tip: get latex tape (the kind for fixing leaks) to wrap around the neck - makes it easier to remove the mouthpiece for cleaning, and makes it easier to tune when the temperature and humidity get wonky.

If you need a tin whistle,…
This is actually a nicely made whistle with a bit of volume to it. I usually use a D whistle, but I thought I would get a new C to bring to a local session. It plays well and evenly over 2 octaves and fits the bill for practice and the occasional tunes at a session. I am pleasantly surprised by its tone and playability.

Fantastic, hoping for more keys!
These are fantastic whistles! I only wish they were available in more keys! Please, Sondery, I want alto and low whistles!

Davvero ben fatti, rapporto qualità / prezzo incredibile

Highly recommended for beginners and experienced musicians
Lovely rounded tone. This is a great price for two tin whistles. I really only needed the d whistle but I have played both. If you are starting out on the instrument you this would be a great choice. Looks and sounds great and is very easy to play.

Klare Kaufempfehlung!
