The Placid pivots around its axis and provides side to side stabilization along with the Vertical Stabilization. Review: Great addition to my flycam - The install took a few tries to get it right and adjusted but once it did, it works great. I attached to my Flycam Flowline 500N. My camera is a Sony FX55 which is around 20lbs with everything so I used the blue spring. I also didn't use the included plastic pieces that were to fit around the 500n so you can remove those if needed.
