My 1993 Palm Harbor master bath was due for an overhaul. After tearing out the 32” shower stall, I replaced it with a Dreamline 32” pan from “big box blue”. The Dreamline was not designed for a mobile home drain, thus this Highcraft 9713 drain was a little too wide for the Dreamline drain inset. BUT...it was a lot easier to grind 1/8” off the new drain than to rework my mobile home plumbing. BE CAREFUL not to harm the chrome finish. I learned the hard wayl, but it’s still useable. I pushed a straightened wire coat hanger through the floor insulation and Visqueen to the ground to make it easier to find the drain area. I have plenty of room under my home, so hookup was easy. (I checked my shower drain for leakage while I was down there, using a five gallon bucket of water and my wife.)

I was looking for something nice and substantial that I could put behind a wall/floor. I replaced a tub with a steel enamel shower pan. I could get a a regular shower drain with a 2 inch connection, but the tub had 1 1/2 plumbing that disappeared in the floor of my 120 year old house, non standard construction of course. So I was not going to tear out the plumbing on two floors and replace it with 2 inch. I could have used a 2 inch to 1 1/2 inch adapter but it made the drop from the drain go too low - a 10 inch joist would be in the way and of course I was not going to just cut it out. Looked up drains and noticed a couple of shower drains for campers would work, but they we all flimsy and ugly and ridiculous in price. Found this one and it worked beautifully, low profile drop and hooked up to a standard brass tub connection then to pvc. Looks good too. I also wanted to get a fancy octopus stainless steel drain screen for the drain. The only problem is the screen goes on with two screws and this drain only has a screen that just drops in. Really no problem though, the fancy screen fits on top of the drain, flush with the shower pan and is heavy enough to just sit there, might put a dap of silicone on the bottom of it as well, but do not really need to.
