DJI Avata 2 is everything the first one should have been ,Fun cinematic FPV Drone
DJI Avata 2 is everything the first should have been ! Fantastic Cinematic FPV Drone and Fun to fly. What I love about the new A2 FPV : 1 : A really good Camera ! No need to attach a Go Pro anymore, Handles different light conditions very well , you can turn in to the sun and the camera exposes perfectly. Really nice colours out the box. 2 : FPV Googles , Sits really nice on top of your head, no more wires hanging about , the battery sits at the back of your head. really nice view inside the lens. 3: You get about 15-20 mins max in the sky depending on what mode you have the drone in , The drone has 3 modes , Normal & Sport are really good modes for just flying around and getting good cinematic footage of landscapes , but if you want to dive and spin over cliffs then you need to learn Manual mode ! Buy the controller3 and practice in a sim like liftoff , its really hard to get the hang of but once you master it your videos will look a lot better than others just droning around with a normal drone. Just a really fun Drone to fly and it really deserves the praise its getting.

Just Fantastic
This is a drone that anyone can fly. Once you have got your head around the settings (easy really) and the new controller you can immerse yourself in the excellent video quality. Range and battery life are plenty for most things and you can always buy additional batteries if needed. It's not slow either, so watch out and limit the speeds in the settings, if you are new to this.

Drone does not respond to the RC remote command
Received it today. Drone came in all pieces but when tested it did not work properly. Disappointing as I was days expecting to receive it. The previous seller did not acted in good faith. Luckily Amazon customer service has issued a return.

I think I really like it
I've spent the past two weeks flying the Avata 2 using both the motion and FPV RC controller. It's important to note that my previous experience with drones primarily involves flying DJI GPS drones (such as the DJI PRO, Air, and currently a Mini) My First Impressions: Unmistakably DJI in quality. Opting for the FlyMore combo (3 battery version) seemed the best option, given the lower flight time per battery that generally comes with all FPV drones. Moreover, this package includes a charging hub and a very high-quality carrying bag. Notably, the drone feels lighter compared to its predecessor which might explain the better flight times. However, the non-removable prop guards is, in my opinion, the only step back compared to previous Avata. The motion controller 3 presents significant improvements in weight and size due to the RC now communicating with the drone through the goggles, a shift from previous direct linkage to the drone. The goggles themselves offer massively improve comfort and display quality similar to the previous version. While the screen specifications remain consistent with prior models, the closer proximity of the goggles to the eyes may be noticeable. The inclusion of an additional forehead pad can help alleviate discomfort by slightly increasing the distance between the lenses and the eyes. The goggles are equipped with dual front cameras for Real View functionality. A simple double tap on either side of the goggles allows you to observe your surroundings via the camera feed while still maintaining visibility of your drone's perspective in a small Picture-in-Picture box at the left corner of the display. While the implementation is not great due to very narrow field of view and low resolution, I would not describe is as gimmicky. I actually found myself utilizing this feature during flights whether I need to catch a quick glimpse or need to find my controller after adjusting the goggles. The facemask, constructed from a thin rubbery seal rather than traditional think foamy material effectively blocks out ambient light better than other VR headsets I used. DJI’s decision to add a small headrest on top of the goggles resulted in less pressure around the eyes allowing a more comfortable wear. Dioptre adjustment is ranging from -6.0 to 2.00 for those of us wearing glasses, though for astigmatism you need to purchase prescribed lenses. The new goggles now allow you to wirelessly stream live footage to another mobile device simplifying the sharing of flying experience with your friends or partner, making the flying experience a bit more inclusive and fun. Also, the transmission rate for CE (Europe) regions has seen significant improvement compared to its predecessor, delivering transmission power very similar I would say to DJI Mini-series of drones. The battery hub introduces a very practical and simple trick. Upon finishing flying all three batteries, the hub can now draw any remaining juice from the two batteries with the lowest charge to fill the remaining third one, giving you this way a half more flight for the day. It's worth mentioning here that a charger is not included in any of the combos. You are going to need a 65W charger at minimum, or a100W if you wish to simultaneously charge batteries and goggles. Flying the Avata 2 Flying the Avata 2 is a blast, but it has its quirks. It struggles a bit in windy conditions, and if you're used to GPS drones, you might notice some shaky live footage because it only has a one-axis gimbal. But don't worry! The footage stored on SD card will be super smooth by using the "rock steady" option in the settings, so no need for extra software such as Gyroflow . Flying this thing is a total thrill. I've never had this much fun with any of my other drones, which I also like. At first, I wasn't sure about the motion controller 3, but it's grown on me. Just to be clear, though, if you really want to unlock the Avata 2's full potential, you should consider purchasing the DJI RC FPV controller 3 with tradition sticks. But I'm really glad I have the motion controller too. It's like flying a plane and it's so easy that anyone can do it straight out of the box. I was zipping flying through gaps smoothly on my first try. Now I get why DJI include it in their packages. It's perfect for beginners like me who want to have a fun flying while still getting the hang of the traditional RC controller fpv controller, which can take a while to master. If you're considering buying the RC FPV controller 3 and you're new to flying, I highly recommend spending time on an FPV simulator before trying manual mode with the Avata 2. Practice as much as possible and watch online videos for drills you can do in the simulator. This will really help you get comfortable flying fully manually. Spend as many hours as you can on the simulator, and before switching to manual mode, get to know the RC FPV controller 3, especially the "pause" button. This button can save your drone by leveling it and hovering in GPS mode until you're ready to take control again. It's a huge help for beginners and can prevent crashes. After a few weeks of simulator practice and flying with the RC controller, I've started to do some basic manual flying like flips and rolls close to the ground. But there's still a lot to learn, so I'm glad to have the motion controller 3 for precise plane-style flying. As you get more confident with the FPV RC, you can experiment with adjusting the rates and stick sensitivity to match your preferences. Online videos on YouTube can be useful for figuring out how to adjust your rates. Conclusion Flying the Avata 2 is just pure fun and with the upgraded camera you can capture vivid and super smooth footage up to 4k 60fps and up to 155° field of view. The Avata 2 also comes at a lower price compared to the original Avata 1 which was released two years ago. It's still an expensive toy, but for all the features it offers like GPS, return to home function, excellent HD transmission, and hassle-free battery charging, it's a pretty good deal. I highly recommend getting DJI Care Refresh though when you buy this drone. It's a smart move because it covers 4 drone replacements at a lower cost (incl. 2 flyaways), which is a no-brainer for a non-very user repairable FPV drone. Having said that, I feel I still need to remind beginners that the Avata 2 is a 3-inch cinewhoop drone, which means it's amazing for getting dynamic footage close to the ground, but it's not a 5-inch freestyle long-range FPV drone. Sure, it can tricks and it is manoeuvrable, especially if you are coming from a gps drones, but if you're looking to learn proper freestyle flying, you might want to think twice. Freestyle flying involves pushing your limits and crashing…a lot. And since the Avata 2 isn't very user-friendly to repair after a big crash, you'll probably need to send it to DJI for service. The non-replaceable prop guards are the main downside of this drone. Overall, though, it's a fantastic cinematic FPV drone for capturing unique footage that you just can't get with traditional DJI GPS drones. Plus, it comes with amazing goggles for great fpv experience everything ready to fly right out of the box. Avata 2 or DJI Mini If you're stuck between choosing a Mini or the Avata 2, it's not an easy decision. They're two different drones. The DJI Mini drones are small, lightweight, and compact (the carrying bag is actually half the size of the Avata 2, see attached photos). They also have a longer flight time (22 minutes vs. 15 minutes of real flight time), and being under 250 grams means you can legally fly them in many more places. With their two-axis gimbal, the DJI Mini drones can keep the horizon fixed, so you can capture slow-moving spiral shots around a point of interest. However, as great as they are, all DJI GPS drones feel like tripods in the air. They're not designed for fast, close-to-the-ground flying. On the other hand, with the Avata 2 and its goggles, you feel like you're in the cockpit, making it a lot easier to fly close to the ground with more precision. The Avata 2 is a bit of a hybrid between a normal GPS drone and a freestyle FPV. It's not meant for very slow or nearly static shots, or flying up high. However, you can capture dynamic and cinematic footage and have a lot of fun by just flying around, something many people can’t get out of flying a normal GPS drone, causing them to shelve their drone after the first excitement, or sell it on eBay. Not everyone who wants to fly drones has the time or desire to learn to edit footage on a PC. With the Avata 2, I can assure you that the footage will be more exciting to watch or share with minimum or less edit. DJI also offers their Lightcut phone app which is amazing for quick edits. So, after having the Avata 2 for nearly two weeks, I would say that even though I probably wouldn't sell off my DJI Mini, if I had to choose to keep one, it would be the Avata 2.

Flying with a birds eye view is a kick in the pants!
I have a DJI Mini Pro 4 and bought this drone to fill a gap. The Avata 2 with the headset is a kick in the pants to fly! You have a Birdseye view of flying and can better navigate trails, close to earth flying. The video is outstanding and the motion controller 2 is as close to being intuitive as you get. It is built with propeller guards and is more durable than models with exposed propellers. It is better suited for beginner because of this and the more intuitive controller. The battery life is 23 minutes, but if you are flying aggressively, I'd fly less than that because low battery levels makes control response sluggish. You can buy cheaper, but the quality and reliability of DJI can't be beat.
