The fit and finish is great. Not OEM quality, but feels much nicer than the cheaper shells I bought before. It may be tight when trying to reopen the console if you mess up and forget something, otherwise it is on-par with OEM. Shell was easy to install if you’ve worked on any Nintendo DS before. Screws included strip easily so you may want to reuse your original screws unless they’re too stripped or rusty. End result looks stunning and I would definitely buy aftermarket shells from ExtremeRate again. *please release aftermarket new 3DS xl shells*

This is another great shell from eXtremeRate! The look of it is so awesome, all the different color button options make it great to customize. All the pieces fit together as expected with the internal parts. Installation is straightforward, no trimming or modifications needed. The quality of the shell is solid and feels good in the hand. Overall super happy with this shell, would for sure recommend

Changing out the shell wasn’t as hard as I thought, but there are some things to note for anyone wanting to attempt this as a fun project. 1. The screen is a bit tough to center perfectly but negligible if it’s slightly off. 2. Watch the whole installation video at least once beforehand, I got a bit ahead of myself and had to redo a few parts. 3. I’ve seen some reviews that say the parts aren’t “flush” and don’t quite fit but this isn’t the case, you need to really tighten the screws so the parts all come together nice and tight. Before you put in screws it will look like it’s not quite fitting, and if you don’t tighten them enough they won’t be “flush” 4. This is an aftermarket shell and as such there are slight differences in their measurements which means that it may not fit in protective cases made specifically for the DS lite. 5. IMPORTANT** The Y screws that come with the kit are the only thing that I would say were a bit lower in quality. I’d assume this is because Nintendo has some sort of patent on them or because they’re hard to source. I HIGHLY suggest anyone doing this project keep the Y screws from their original console while shell swapping as the ones included in the kit either strip easy or seem to not catch the screwdriver at all. With that being said I’m very happy with the quality of the parts and I’m thrilled they included some extras of certain easy to lose parts like springs and screws. The only complaint that I can think of is the Y screws that come in with it I think it’d be easier if Xtremerate simply included regular screws that fit in the same locations.

Beautiful colors and designs. Nice texture in hand. Great sizes and fitting. Cheaply printed designs, cheap plastic material. Terrible screws that strip easily and don’t feel secure. One drop and this thing will shatter. I think it’s one of the best options on the market, but it’s way too overpriced for the quality. If it was $10-$15 I wouldn’t have a single complaint, but dang near $30 you’d expect a strong shell.

The case is a good quality. The graphic is not a sticker, it's like a silkscreen or something so it should last a long time. It feels very premium, and I like the matte. The buttons it comes with dont work that good IMO, but the new membranes are a good quality. I swapped my old buttons in with the new membranes and the dpad and buttons feel nice. The teardown and assembly isn't overly difficult, just time consuming. Do be careful with final assembly, I broke my power button and had to resolder a new one. Four stars because the screws suck. The heads strip out way too easily. The hinge screws specifically are just not the right size, they're too short and not thick enough. So if you barley over-tighten them they tear out in the plastic. I had to use other screws for the hinges that were from my old damaged case. Some others mentioned how the fit wasn't quite right on the bottom screen. That the case just wouldn't get tight there. I had the same experience, and again using different screws and just continuing to adjust the case I eventually got a clean and tight fit. Regarding some folks who said their top screen was floppy or didn't close all the way. I did not use the metal ring that came with the kit. Instead I used the one that was in my broken case. That helped to tighten hinge fit. Also, I had to keep messing with the actual hinge piece before it would snap close nicely and not flop. You can do it, it just takes some patience. If you make sure your old ds top screen is fully opened bedore disassembly that is good, then mark the hinge with a sharpie somehow so you know it's orientation when you reassemble the new shell. The set is a ittle pricy considering the screws aren't right, but overall I would buy this kit again.

This shell fits excellent. One must follow all the steps correctly and replace everything in order to get it to actually close back up, but this shell fits the best of any of the after market I’ve tried. Other reviews say the provided screws strip easily, this is true. I found it better to save and reuse the screws from your donor console. I also recommend using your own tools. It can be tricky to replace the cover on the top screen and correctly remove the border on the bottom but these are necessary to get it to fit right. The riskiest part is definitely getting the top screen out from and back into its housing as the ribbon cable is delicate. If you do everything properly you can get excellent results. Things I forgot and had to add back in later: the plastic piece that goes in the power LED slot, the metal piece that goes behind the battery cover so the cover has something to screw to, removing the bottom screen border, reseating the wifi antenna cable near the charging port so the case fits proper. If you’re comfortable with teardown and reassembly this is a great mod.

Very high quality replacement shell. It can be easy if you take your time and follow a video on how to do it properly. Worth the price.

_WARNING_ The metal ring for the hinge where the top screen ribbon goes through wasn't given a proper bevel on the edges causing a sharp edge. Either use the OEM ring or be EXTREMELY careful because while I was putting the ribbon through the slit of the bottom base, which sometimes can be a bit tricky sliding it though, the ribbon started rubbing on the ring and cut it enough to completely break the top screen costing me 40$.

Es ist das beste Gehäuse für den DS Light das ich je hatte. Auch die Kopftasten reagieren top. Einfach super. Auch die Farben sind kräftig und weisen keine Schlieren auf.

シェル交換は初めてでしたが、YouTubeを見ながら何とか出来ました。道具は付属されているドライバーで充分ですが、ピンセットは準備した方が作業しやすいと思います。ネジやクッション材等も余分に入っているので安心してできました。ただ個体差はあると思うのですがヒンジ部分がギチギチではめるのに苦労しました。それ以外は文句なしで出来映えは最高です。

its the best available for the ds lite, that being said there are a few tiny fitment issues, even then i rate it pretty good
