I used the VEVOR 12V Linear Actuator (20-inch high speed, 220 lbs) as a door operator for my chicken coop, and it works perfectly for this purpose. With its 220 lb force, I paired it with a cable system to lift the door. This setup ensures the cable goes slack when the door closes, preventing any risk of harming my chickens—a big concern for me! The actuator operates at just the right speed (0.55"/s), slow enough to give the chickens plenty of time to move out of the way, which is a crucial safety feature. Installation was straightforward, and the unit feels sturdy and well-built. If you’re looking to automate your chicken coop or need a reliable actuator for a similar application, this is an excellent choice. It’s powerful, smooth, and safe—exactly what I needed for the job!

Controller is a key fob. Cables are an old-style that uses connectors only found on old European audio cables and weren’t long enough for my installation. I had to search high and low for extension cables. They work fine, but you may have to re-wire them.

I have bought a couple of these and for the price you can’t beat it. I use them for automatic chicken doors so they are outside 24/7 and not covered from the rain entirely. They have lasted an extremely long time considering the abuse. I bought a back up one just in case one breaks one of these days but it’s still on the shelf due to the endurance of the product. I’m sure if you covered them and took care of them properly they might last for years and years. They can lift a good amount of weight and I was kinda surprised by overall strength of the device. I’m sure the more weight you lift that might affect the lifetime of it but I’ve had nothing but good experience with these so far. Mine go up and down 2 times a day in case anyone was wondering and do so with about 30 pounds of weight with ease. I use one to lift the chicken feed off the ground to protect from pests and other uninvited guests at night as well.

While it works and is able to life a lot, I am very worried about it's durability. After only a few weeks, the extension arm is now very wobbly when at extension. It was much more rigid before.

If you figure out the angles correctly and the load calculations, (There is a calculator available on the net), They work good. Need to watch lateral forces when fully extended. A little slow but better than me lifting my 150 lb. trap door

The problem with these actuators is not that they are extremely slow, and it's not that they're not waterproof. The biggest problem with these actuators is that the mounts are cheap. I have been through three of them now where the actuator itself does not fail, but the little mount on the bottom snaps off with the slightest bit of torque. So when you put this on any tool that's actually going to put some Force back against it, it will break every time.

I like Vevor, they're a great company and trust their products. I'm using this actuator to control the wifi opening and closing of my Andersen sliding patio door. The only downside is the black color. All of my Vevor window actuators are silver colored and I wish this was as well. I will now try to hide it with a solid valance curtain.

Der Linearantrieb macht einen sehr soliden Eindruck. Gute Leistung, stabil gebaut und einfach anzuschließen. Für den Preis wirklich top – klare Empfehlung.

Funktioniert prima. Ich lasse ihn sogar nur auf 5V laufen statt 12V. Das hat zur Folge dass meine Hühnertür langsamer schließt und die Hühner rechtzeitig aus dem Weg gehen können. Zur Not gibt’s halt mal ein spontanes Grillhendl. 😎 Weniger als 5V würde ich aber nicht empfehlen, es kann sein dass der Motor z.B. bei 3V überhaupt nicht mehr läuft. Aber 5V ist kein Problem.

Dit ding is niet kapot te krijgen. Doorceen bedieningsfout werd de doorloop geblokeerd. In plaats van het uit te zetten werd ik, in paniek, gebeld. "Er kwam een brandlucht uit" kreeg ik te horen. Bij de tijd dat ik ter plaatse kwam en de stroom afsloot was de motor reeds te heet om aan te raken. "Die is overleden" dacht ik, maar tot mijn grote verbazing, na wat afkoel tijd, werkte de actuator als vanouds. Petje af!
