Equal parts challenging and fun those who grew up with repairable autos. I owned dhoc 2.8 L and 3.2 l. straight six jaguars for much of my life. This straight four was the closest thing that was also at my price point. It took a week to build which is what I wanted. Tbe build was tricky for geezer fingers, but never more than that. As with most Mould King kits, parts fit well and were close to LEGO quality. Two commonly available pieces were missing, replaced by extra parts from other kits. There were also 18 extra parts in this kit (for future use).

This was a challenge but I enjoyed every minute of it. There were zero missing pieces. I am looking forward to the next challenge.

I purchased this for my sons 13th birthday. He was so excited when he opened it. He loves Legos and anything to do with motors so this was right in the middle. Fun for hours! I will mention the description says it's a diesel motor and it's a gasoline motor.

I bought this for my teenage son who loves to work on cars. He loved building it.

Need to replace a part, but can’t get a response from the manufacturer. Didn’t realize part was defective until half way through the build or I would’ve returned the kit. This is definitely not a kit for beginners! Would not recommend.

This engine is incredibly fun to build - I think it might be even better than the smaller V8. It's a model of an inline 4 cylinder engine with counterbalanced pistons, 3 valves per cylinder and overhead camshafts. The set comes with outstanding instructions, now almost indistinguishable from Lego. The "four" bags (actually about 12 plastic bags!) enable a very logical assembly. Bag 1 gives the frame and the pistons. Bag 2 builds the cylinders and valves. Bag 3 is all about the overhead camshafts. Bag 4 covers cosmetic finishing touches, including some silver plated pieces. The quality of the pieces is high, although the tolerance/fit isn't quite up to Lego's standard. It's so close, I feel like I'm probably splitting hairs. There are certainly no rough burrs or partially moulded pieces - quality is really high. I've never given a Lego competitor a five star review before, but Lego doesn't make anything like this engine (so it's innovative), the instructions are excellent, and the quality of the pieces is also really extremely good. And the price for 1800 pieces is great. Five stars.
