Dubious as yet.
Although at first the Omron looks the business, I do have a few issues with it. I can only comment on what I can check, that being the amount of steps taken. If those are correct then everything else must be on par, but it is the issue of the steps that bugs me. I find that if I keep the Omron in my pocket when walking, and count steps to 100, then the device invariably counts 110, or thereabouts! But if I keep it on my belt it appears to be accurate, although whether it will be so over a long distance I could not say. Every Sunday I walk eight miles to my local town and back, and the amount of steps counted seems to be fairly consistent, but unless I count every one (almost 16,000) I cannot say for sure, hence the counts to 100 mentioned earlier. This discrepancy might be to do with the material within the pocket moving, and adding steps. My biggest issue is with the belt/trouser clip, for I cannot keep it from riding off, except to place it on the trouser, and then tighten my belt over it to keep it in place. Even then it can come off, especially when tying bootlaces. The clip is NOWHERE near strong enough I find. I am now going to put a strong elastic band over the device, and below the belt to see if that works. A drastic redesign might be in order!

Great pedometer...
Great little device - bought it for my other half, who is in training for a 13km charity walk. She loves it too. Easy to set up and shows steps, aerobic steps, calories burned and distance covered in miles. It stores each days data for seven days, so you can easily copy your daily data into your diary for reference as to your progress. Comes with a waist clip holder and wrist strap - can't see the point of that really, but it was in the box! Highly recommended.

Pedometer
Very good device. Accurate, easy to set up, carry around with you and does encourage you to walk more. Not the cheapest on the market but pleased I spent a bit more to get this quality of device.

Straight to the charity shop
It is, I think, rather misleading to describe this as a pedometer and it is a pity that the seller did not make it clear that the only real use for this item is counting the number of 'steps' taken or calaroies burned on a daily basis. It is of no use in measuring distance travelled, because it cannot be reset; it resets itself daily. Subsequent web research has revealed that this is an identified issue with this device that the manufacturer chooses not to address. A health warning might be appropriate.

One small thing, one big drawback
This pedometer is really neat, and, after setting it up, it works really well. Trouble is, when you don't want to measure steps and maybe carry it in a bag, or if you have it in the car, it spuriously records data. Also, if you want to record individual sessions during the day, you need to do a system reset and set up the time etc each time, in order to zero the counter. I guess it is ok for the fitness mad, but not so good for those who want to measure individual walks. Yes I know you can note and subtract, but that is a primitive solution. Also, there should be an on/off button. So the seemingly small defects lead me to give this only two stars.

ok but not brilliant........
Hasn't really lived up to my expectation - I diligently followed the set up instructions but I am not convinced the readings I am getting back are accurate. I know one of my walks to be 2 miles exactly but on the pedometer it shows up as over 3 miles. Also, at the end of the day it gives me one reading but the next day when this data has gone to the Mode file the data has changed!! Significantly!

fantastic product
Have brought ones in the past that proved to be problematic and had not found one that I was happy with, until now, this is a very simple and accurate pedometer to use, I love it and will by another one at the end of this ones life, I use it most days and have had it 3 months now and it also records your jogging motion as well as walking steps, tells the time/calls burned and is very clear to see (as I need reading glasses & have no probs seeing this)

Encourages you to go that extra mile
I have used pedometers for years now as motivators. I aim for 10,000 steps a day and love it when the little man raises his arms in salute as you get over that. There is a strange, perhaps 'sad', satisfaction in getting the required number of steps fitted into your day. A substantial distance travelled on foot just feels right and good. As distance is shown in miles I can relate properly to the length I have walked. The aerobic steps counter is particularly revealing - this is a count of the steps taken without pause, so on a long walk without stopping you may chalk up an impressive total. However even a busy day around the house with thousands of steps taken may show almost none of them to be aerobic. I bought this because I gave away my last, smaller, one to my daughter in law when she was training to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Perhaps though more savvy people these day have apps on their phones to show the same info. Not me for as I don't carry a mobile phone. This Omron Go Smart Pocket pedometer is less likely to be lost or washed as it has a safety lead, clip and small plastic pouch style belt clip. It is bigger than some of the sleeker, lozenge shaped ones. I find it rather clunky and noticeable. Setting the pedometer up is OK, you have to stick a thin stick (opened up paperclip say) into the hole at the back if you get the order of setting wrong. That re sets the system. The next stage will be for this to be a bit lighter and smaller. That said the larger display is easier to read. Flicking back through the past week can show progress, or lack of of it. Also Omron, how about making one for dogs!

No se puede pasar de pies a m. Para mí no es tan útil como esperaba que fuera. Tendrían que avisar en qué idioma viene.

I have had a number of pedometers in the past, including the Weight Watchers pedometer (I recently had to replace this one twice and the third one was still inaccurate - I finally gave up). I spent some time researching a new replacement and found that most of the comments about the Omron HJ 112 were favourable. I have found the Omron very easy to set up and change setting when necessary. I have sight issues and have some difficulty reading some of the display. Otherwise, I am most satisfied and would recommend this product. I think this is good value for the money. I have had this product for 3 weeks.

The meter does what is has to do, but can only be used with "lbs" and "inches". Also counts when moving around in other ways, not only counts steps.

Excellent technically and as good as its earlier version. But how could Amazon Canada sell this to Canadians without disclosing that it does not measure in kilogrammes and kilometres but only in the US pounds and miles. (neither of which has been taught in Canada for the last 40 years). Also note that it still uses the old-fashioned am/pm system for time and cannot be adjusted to the more practical 24 clock. It is serious failure of Amazon ca not to tell its Canadian customers that they will have to adjust to a different measuring system. After all, why should I buy from a Canadian seller when Canadian standards are not met. My previous version was in kgs and kms and so the product was available in a compliant version and probably still is for the European market. A bit lazy of Amazon Canada not to do its homework. jmm

Excellent appliance. I followed Consumer Report's warm recommendation and am not sorry. This pedometer can be carried either loose in your pocket or clipped to a belt. There is an additional safety clip so that you don't lose it if it jumps off your belt. The consciousness raising a pedometer creates is quite extraordinary. Put it on as soon as you rise in the morning and you will be surprised how many steps you take just around the house, especially if you are moving up and down stairs. I wear it when I ride a stationary bicycle for an hour, bringing my total steps to over 10,000 for the day. Success. At midnight it resets to zero and you start over the next morning. P.S. 26/07/14 Re. "steps" on bicycle. I have since found out that bicycle does cardio and nothing for your bone density. If bone density is also your aim you need to put weight on your bones: walk, jog, climb stairs, train with weights/Nautilus, and use elliptical trainer.
