PackIt Freezable Snack Box, Checked Out

I like this a lot. I get that it's not for everybody...a lot of people, especially people here in the US, would complain that it's far too small for a lunch box, which is why it's marketed as a "snack box." However, I use mine for breakfast AND lunch every day, as do my kids. I can fit 4 Pyrex 1 cup containers in this snugly, which is perfect for a portioned breakfast and lunch (2 eggs, 1 cup blueberries for breakfast, 1 cup of chicken breast, 1 cup veggies for lunch). For the kids, it fits whatever they need to bring for lunch, which is usually similar to whatever I'm having, and since they eat their breakfast at home before they go to school, they have extra room for a mid-afternoon apple or orange. If you pack in disposable/reusable bags instead of glass/plastic containers, you could fit a lot more, we're just partial to glass with silicone lids to cut as much plastic out of our lives as we can, but you can absolutely fit a lot more than I can if you use different food storage. If you're the type to eat more for lunch or if you tend to throw a Lunchable or various pre-packaged items in a lunchbox for the kids, the size may not work for you unless you discard some of the factory packaging first, but otherwise, it works great, and it's super versatile and easy to carry as well, as it's a good size to fit in any bag. It folds nice and flat to go in the freezer door (I can fit 3 of these in the freezer door with room to spare), and the inside is easy to wipe clean. There are plenty of designs to satisfy most people, and using this for lunch really encourages you to watch your portions, so it's great for people on a weight loss diet or who want to be deliberate about not over-eating. While these have worked very well for our family and I have found it easy to adapt to the size, if I had to throw out some complaints, because of the collapsible design, the zipper can be a little difficult to work with until the materials get a bit broken in; this especially affects kids. The built-in ice packs do a good job at keeping things COOL enough to last until lunch if you're working in the AC, but if you work outdoors or from your vehicle, it won't be sufficient to keep things cold, and even if you work indoors I would recommend you not pack anything in it that must be kept ice cold to avoid spoiling unless you have a refrigerator to keep it in. Pro-tip, if you use glass containers like I do, they can aid in keeping things cold for longer; Put the containers in the freezer overnight with the lunch box and they will help keep things colder, but unfortunately, this trick doesn't work nearly as well with plastic. I also tend to use a lot of frozen fruit for things like berries, as it's just cheaper to buy them frozen and they don't lose as many nutrients as they do during distribution as fresh ones do, and this helps aid cooling even further. If you're using Ziplock bags but still portioning, you could easily supplement a small ice pack to boost the cold performance. Overall though, I have been very satisfied with these, and I think most people can find a way to make the size work.

Great little bag for food or beverage to stay cold for a several hours. Great for lunch or traveling in car for 1 or 2 people. The whole bag folds down and easily fits in freezer. Has a built in freezer pack.

This is the perfect little packable cooler. I have used it for myself many times under many different needs for the day and it has never let me down. It stays cool pretty long if you freeze it overnight. It doesn't fit much, but enough for one person and a small meal like a little john from Jimmy John's and a mini coke. Great compact size!! Two bottles of Poland Springs water fit perfectly and stay cold all day or i use it for small frozen dinners, sandwiches, small containers, etc. It also takes up little space in small freezers.

This snack bag is perfect if you live in a hot climate (I live in Dubai). It keeps snacks cold for outings to the park in midsummer! If my son doesn’t eat his yogurt tubes I can just put it back in the first when I get home as it’s still cold. It folds up nicely to save space in freezer.

We used a large lunch box with a separate ice pack for a little while. Sometimes it's overkill. That's where this comes into play. EASILY fits 2 bottles (dr browns) of breast milk when we are on the go! Keeps it cool for the entire time we're out and easy to put away in our diaper bag or clip to the side of the stroller. Folds up nicely to be re-frozen in the freezer too so it doesn't take up a lot of space. Do it if you're on the fence! You won't regret it.
