An Absolute Lifesaver! Saved Me a $200 HVAC Call!
I was facing the dreaded summer nightmare: our AC unit shut off automatically, and I discovered a puddle of water around the indoor air handler. The culprit? A clogged condensation drain line, which had tripped the float switch. For years, I've battled this issue with a wet/dry vac, bleach, and long flexible brushes, with mixed and temporary results. This time, the clog was stubborn. After an hour of frustration and with the temperature rising in the house, I was about to make the expensive call to an HVAC technician. On a whim, I did a quick search and found this CO2 unclogging tool. I was skeptical, to be honest. Could a small CO2 cartridge really do what my powerful shop vac couldn't? The answer is a resounding YES. Ease of Use: This tool is brilliantly simple. The instructions were crystal clear, and it took less than 60 seconds to screw in the CO2 cartridge and attach the nozzle to my drain line's cleanout port. The Magic Moment: I held the tool firmly against the pipe, took a deep breath, and pulled the trigger. The "WHOOSH" was powerful and immediate. I ran outside to the end of the drain line, and what I saw was both disgusting and beautiful: a sudden, forceful gush of water and a year's worth of built-up algae gunk blasted right out of the pipe. The clog was completely obliterated in a single shot. The Result: I went back inside, poured some water down the cleanout port to test it, and it flowed freely for the first time in ages. The AC kicked back on and has been running perfectly ever since. The entire process, from opening the box to a fixed AC, took less than five minutes. Final Verdict: This tool is worth every single penny and then some. It's a fraction of the cost of a single HVAC service call and infinitely more effective than any other DIY method I've tried. This is now a permanent, essential part of my home maintenance toolkit. If you have central air conditioning, do not hesitate. Buy one of these before you need it. It will save you time, money, and a whole lot of stress. An absolute must-have for any homeowner!

Works.
Worked for unclogging an AC condensate line. I would not recommend doing it from the outside. Shot goop all through my second floor attic. Oh well. Do it from the inside with a shop vac attached to help with suction.

Needs different size copplers
Doesn't work. Plunge does not seal on the drain openning

Helpful but not enough to clear the line by itself
Bought this drain gun as my AC drain line was clogged yet again when I returned from vacation on a weekend and the AC system had shut down. This item was fortunately available for delivery by very early morning the next day, so I tried it. It took a combination of 3 CO2 cartridges (of the 6 included in the package), a shop vac on the outside end of the drain line, some hot water and bleach and a good bit of time, but I finally got the drain line opened again and the system running. I had hoped that the gun would have a stronger effect, but each of the cartridges only shoots CO2 out for a few seconds and weren't powerful enough to make much headway with my clogged drain line (which has a 90 degree turn about 2.5' from the access opening and a fairly long run before reaching another 90 degree turn at the outside end of the line). As I still had to use chemicals, a shop vac and a lot more time to finish clearing the line I'm not convinced that the gun was worth the cost... though it was less than a weekend service call from my AC company would have been.

Worked but need a tight seal
It worked for me on the last cartridge fortunately. I tried to get a decent seal by plugging other openings in the line and used 5 of the cartridges but the air always had some way to escape. I had to cut the drain line so I could get a tight seal and a direct shot at the blockage but that finally worked and my AC is back in operation. My one complaint is that they don't tell you what size cartridges come with the gun (16 gram or 20 gram) and I don't see how to reorder cartridges.

A Great DIY Solution
I bought this to help clear the A/C condensate drain line in our second-floor condo. The drain line is mostly buried in a wall leading down to the condo below ours, routed then to a floor drain where that first-floor condo’s A/C condensate drain terminates. There are four sharp 90-degree elbows in the ¾” pipe to the first-floor discharge, making it impossible to snake. When the drain gets clogged with algae, mold, the water backs up, it then flows into our water heater drain pan. That eventually puts out the water heater pilot light and makes for cold showers and a lot of remediation work. We regularly pour vinegar down the drain line through a breather T near the furnace. Last year a plumber used one of these CO2 blowers to clear the line. This year I bought this one, saving the plumber house call cost. The plumber recommended installing a valve in the line to prevent backflow of the CO2 and blocking the water heater pan drain with a cork while blowing it clear. I found the device rubber drain adapter slightly smaller than needed. I solved that by using the piece of ¾” PVC cute out to install the valve in the condensate drain to glue into the drain’s breather T fitting. The drain adapter then fit fine. The minor adjustment in the breather T fitting should have no impact on pouring in vinegar. I needed two CO2 cartridges to clear the clog and will likely use another one after dumping down more vinegar over the next week to gobble through the gunk.
