I found this basket on a list of "The Best Dog Bike Baskets: Safe Bicycle Riding with Dogs" and this basket was listed as #2 (to be honest, I'm not sure why the #1 was listed as #1 - it looks...odd), but this one should have been #1! I'll put the details below my review. I agree with every point they make. My Yorkie is 10 lbs. We previously had the #3 on the list: Snooze Buddy Dog Basket. It was a great basket. I loved it, but I sold my bike and I couldn't detach the basket attachment thingy since it rusted on over ten years. However, I did have a few issues with it - the attachment thingy dug into the basket so much that it was pressed up against my dog, which really limited her space inside the basket, although otherwise, she fit fine. The other thing is that it was not sturdy. It slid from side to side as we rode and as she moved around inside. The biggest consideration when purchasing this basket was finding a sturdy basket, as finding a basket for her size isn't too difficult. With that being said, she has a great amount of room in this basket. She jumped right in when we took it out of the box and she NEVER does that. So that is saying something!! Its hard not to give full stars to the first pet basket ive found that will hold my dog's weight! I own a mini dash hound who is getting to be about 6 years old and has had back problems in the past. I feel like this item was very well-made, it's reflective where the color strips are, it has wonderful storage opportunities on the sides with the pockets, it's easy to clean, and when it's not in use you can easily use as a pet bed since it's super well-padded and my cats actually really like sitting in it and sleeping in it and generally just rolling around in it. I do have to say there are some downsides to this basket. First of all this basket does not have a metal bar under it, it actually just hooks into the little mechanism that holds it to your bike. While it is sturdy and I believe it is true to if your dog or cat can sit comfortably in it then it can probably hold their weight I wouldn't recommend this basket to anyone who aims to be doing biking in the mountains or anywhere that's bumpy or over potholes because while it is sturdy it does wiggle a little bit and even though it might not happen there is a kind of a fear that it may snap if given too much pressure. I would recommend this for anyone who's just like riding through a paved park or just around their neighborhood anywhere that's level and well-kept I feel like my dog is really going to enjoy this. Also it said itd take three weeks to arrive here in Florida but it only took four days. It was well packaged in a big box and everything inside was baggied. You will need screw drivers to put it together.

The product is well made and sturdy. I tested the product on a bike ride with one 15 and one 10 pound hand weights in the basket before putting my 23 lbs Maltipoo in the basket. Like the product instructions indicates you have to be mindful of how your pets weight will effect your balance while riding and turning the handle bars. Just enough space in the basket for my dog to set up straight while harnessed to the basket. The additional weight makes for a good cardio workout out and fun ride for your pet. I would not recommend using this in heavy busy traffic area where sudden stops maybe required; more of a leisurely bike ride in a flat landed spacious area with no traffic.

We needed to replace an old worn out bike/pet basket after several years. It was a decent basket but no longer available. I searched all over and looked at many different ones but couldn't find many that looked like it was sturdy and safe. I ordered a couple to try out and they were just junk. Then I found the pet pilot. This is a very well made product. It's very easy to install and very solid and safe once mounted.

This company charges a restocking fee. The metal end of the carry handles that attached the basked to the installed bike hardware broke and injured my 6 pound Pomeranian of of course while trying to save the dog, I was scraped up. The basked is great, the easy attachment to bike is great, but the attachment is very dangerous because it snaps. I purchased this basket is 2018 and loved it until it snapped on the third ride on a flat bike path, no more the a total of ten miles put on the basket. I recently reordered the same basket--years later, from the same store on Amazon in hopes that they have found a safer attachment. They still are using the same form of attachment. I'm sending it back and actually feel safer using a basket I just ordered that uses several velcro straps instead of a metal handle that snaps and cost 1/4th of this price.

Finally got around to using this. I was a little worried about everyone talking about it being hard to steer but I barely noticed any change in the handling of my bike with my 8lb Shih-Tzu Puppy. Basket didn’t bounce around and was super secure. Leash inside kept him from jumping out. I feel like I could fit a much bigger dog In here as he had plenty of room to move around. Easy to assemble and Pops off in 2 seconds by raising the handle lock. The engineering of it is good in that you know the basket will not fall off with a bump or what not. Be sure to get a set of doggy goggles too. I noticed if I went fast, the wind kinda dried his eyes a bit and he turned away from the wind.

I own a mini goldendoodle she is an f1b so on the smaller spectrum of the minis. She is absolutely comfortable in this basket. It is extremely sturdy with a full wire construction and easy to install, if you know how to install a bell on your bike(super simple) you can install the bracket. I love the fact that when not in use it is easily removed for storage. I ride a mountain bike so I was happy to see that this basket fit. Most baskets have a hard time adjusting to the small space betwee the front wheel and the handel bars but as long as your bike meets the required minimum you are in luck. And for everyone asking how much weight can it hold, I assure you it as long as your furbaby fits it will hold. What I did was cut a piece of cardboard to the size of the dimensions of the botom of the basket. She sat on the piece of cardboard with room to spare.

This was perfect for our 18 lb dog. The harness fits securely around her chest and clips onto the basket. It gives her enough room to move around and lay down, but not enough to tempt her from jumping out. The depth is perfect to ensure our dog is deterred from making a jump for it. Installation was a breeze, as I installed it outside when winds were 5 mph. Seriously though, it was easy to install and fits securely. I have no concern of it falling off. There are a couple of pouches on the side which was nice to store a small bike lock and the obligatory doggie bags. Stylish for a dog basket. The reflective strips make up for it. You would definitely make Judy Garland jealous. Took a little getting used to when starting off as the dog makes it a little harder to balance. Note the dog in the picture does not come with the basket. Not sure if it would make it through the mail unless you have Amazon Prime.
