Clay pebbles are good for inside and outside plants. They add nice color pop on top of soil and they are great for bottom of planter for watering purposes.

Black coating
Black leca: paint or coating chips and shows thru clay color. Floats even after 48hr prep. As the coating seems to affect absorption I'm resigned to using for reservoir only, not substrate. Why did you pick this product vs others?: Color Functionality: Somewhat
