How do you lower the alarm/music volume? I've lowered the music volume to lowest setting, but the alarm music continues at much higher level.

There is not a function on the clock that will allow you to adjust the volume to a lower level for the radio alarm feature.

Can it be dimmed to turn off the display completely?

No. the dimmer control will not turn off the display completely.

does the clock radio have an american or an european outlet plug? and is it in brand new condition?

American outlet plug and yes, it is in brand new condition. The speaker quality is not the best... a bit harsh.
