Why do certain foods harm some people and help others? How come the results of a weight loss programme varies from individual to individual? And why do some people fall sick more often than others? The science of Ayurveda holds answers to these questions and many more. Its scriptures took a holistic approach to health by combining our lifestyle with our natural tendencies (which vary from one person to another). This groundbreaking new work from Om Swami combines the yogic view of food as sattvic, rajasic and tamasic with Ayurvedic perspective, and further relates it to the modern view of foods as acidic and alkaline. This is also the first time that Ayurvedic prakriti (vata, pitta and kapha) has been discussed in the context of yogic prakriti (sattvic, rajasic and tamasic) in a truly cohesive fashion. The Wellness Sense extracts the essence of Ayurveda, yoga and tantra to combine it with modern medicine in this simple, step-by-step handbook on how to take better care of yourself.Accessibly written, deeply researched and distilled from Om Swami's own lived experience, The Wellness Sense puts your health and happiness in your hands. Review: One of the best books to attain overall good health through practical ayurveda - We keep thinking about our physical health, our mental health is slowly becoming our priority (hopefully) but do we even consider our stomach as the most important organ of our body? (After our heart and the brain). This book tells us how our stomach controls almost everything and how an eating sense can give us a wellness sense. The Wellness Sense gives us an Ayurvedic perspective towards our wellness and health. It tells us how food plays a great role in every aspect of our lives, also how our emotional and mental health is extremely important for our physical wellbeing. It has explained everything in utter detail. A number of appendices have been given at the end of the book to give us a small list of what kind of food is the best for us. The title of the book is as witty as the last book I had read by Om Swami. The book describes what the wellness sense and other aspects of the same are. The cover is a beautiful mix of shiny and subtle that gives off the right calm yet catchy vibe. The language of the book is simple to read. Though a lot of Sanskrit words have been used due to the Ayurvedic outlook it has been explained very well. All aspects have been described well. The content of the book is a guide in a nutshell. I was amazed to see so many things being described so well. No useless examples, no self-praising and filled with knowledge. The Ayurveda has been backed up by modern science and this makes the book very different from the other typical wellness books. In the end, I would love to say that I, personally, have got an idea of how my body works. I now know what can be considered to eat and what I can skip on. I loved the part where the author has not prohibited anything. He teaches us about our body and leaves us with many choices. I recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with their health or wants to know more about their body for better functioning. Review: A very practical guide to well being - This book will wake you up, literally! We have never been thought how to look after ourselves, all the years of organised pedagogy and all we learnt is some fit for nothing chemistry formulas and wonderful but really-whatโs-the-point history. Personal well being from all three angles of physical, mental and emotional is so well covered in this book. It needs to be read, applied, re-read and applied further. Strongly recommend this book for anyone who wants to get started with the basics of Ayurveda, but not just walk away with the deep science with no practical guide to apply the knowledge in day today life. It is written in simple English, easy to understand, structured in short chapters with a very good flow from one to another. There may be some areas where the Ayurvedic science behind something could have been explained further and more elaborately. For instance, rather than saying โeating A will cause B in your bodyโ the author could have gone in more detail to elucidate the reason why. But a curious mind can always read from other sources to further their understanding. Very good book for beginners and everyone should get a copy!

An Amazing and outstanding Book!!
An Amazing and outstanding Book!! Itโs very informative and in detailed knowledge is given in this book, not just our physical health but also factors responsible for our emotions and mental afflictions. I highly recommend this book to everyone, doctors and alternative health care practitioner. We all are so caught up in our busy lifestyles that seldom we have time to focus on our health. The information in this book not only clarifies lot of myths about food and its connection with our mind and emotions but also the practicality of the teachings of Vedic wisdom. A unique thing about this book that not only it provides information, it also guides us to be mindful and use the Yogic methods for erasing our Psychic imprints and much more. I believe that after reading this book and practicing what is guided in the book, I will become more focused toward my health, and a much fulfilling life. After reading โThe Wellness Senseโ I am able to recognise my physical, mental and emotional discomforts and working towards them independently without seeking help from anyone. Itโs a complete guide in itself. Thanks to Om Swami ji to share His wisdom with all of us. What a great blessing to have all this information available in one easy to read book! Hari om !

Words of Gold
I did not know anything substantial about Ayurveda before reading this book. The way everything in the book was written and explained, I felt empowered with another ancient science by the time I finished. There are many actionable tips in the book, and also many practices which can help people improve their health and make their lifestyle sustainable. The depth and breadth of the author is vast and I do recommend people to read other books written by him.

Ayurveda and. How to deal with health issues
We often wonder why some people are naturally slim while others gain weight easily, or why certain foods benefit one person but not another. Swamiji has beautifully explained that this is due to our unique body types, as described in Ayurveda. By understanding our body type and its specific needs, we can address many health issues naturally. Ayurveda provides deep insights into how our bodies function and what suits us best. Swamiji has also shared numerous examples to make this concept easy to understand, highlighting the importance of Ayurveda in maintaining overall well-being.

To say that I loved this book would be an understatement
To say that I loved this book would be an understatement. Ancient Yogic and Ayurveda practices were a jumble of concepts for me with no real connection between one and the other. Many of my beliefs were even factually incorrect if not completely wrong. This one book clarified all the concepts and made me realize what a genius our Rishis were. Nothing about what you read is religious mumbo jumbo it's pure science and logic so clearly and beautifully spelled out that you wonder if modern medicine is so accurate at all. I was in awe of the book for a few days thinking again and again about how I can imbibe all the practices given in the book, change my lifestyle as much as I can for the the simple and clear goal to live a 100 years with happiness and without disease. A curious incident happened which I must narrate here.. One friend wanted to come up with a health app, the kids which are very popular these days. I would measure your daily exercise, calories burnt, offer prompts to be more active, tell you about various diets and weight loss regimes and so on. He wanted to discuss the final concept with me. We met up for lunch and I started telling him about Wellness Sense and how our entire idea of "being healthy" is flawed. To be truly healthy one must not only be fit physically but be mentally strong and personally radiant. He should not only be truly happy himself but should be able to make others happy. I went on and on about all that was written in the book Rajas, Tamas, Satva Kapha Pitta Vata, the practice of Yoga, relationship between body and mind, holistic health etc. So much so that my friend just dropped the idea of the App and said first I want to read this book. I will come up with a new app based on the book :-) This book is really a gem and can be gifted to friends and family not as something they will just decorate on their bookshelf but as a living guiding entity.

A Masterpiece of Practical Ayurveda
I have read almost all of Om Swamiji's earlier works. But this one clearly stands out due to it's distinctly technical style. A book on Ayurveda written in his Characteristic style that caters to both novices and experts. I knew, Swamiji as a master of yoga, tantra and astrology but this book is clearly a pleasant surprise. The real life examples and personally verified experiences of the author add a distinct mark of authenticity to the work. I myself have been reading Ayurveda over some time now and can say that this book is a masterpiece, especially the way it fuses observations of modern medicine with Ayurveda and yoga. The book starts with an introduction to basic concepts of Ayurveda, thus it can be picked up even by readers who are novice to Ayurveda. The book has detailed discussion on mental constitutions and afflictions and their effect on physiology and manifestation of diseases. The simplified analysis and classification of different food items using their acidity profile and effect on mental humors is something unique to this work. Pragmatism has always been the hallmark of Swamiji and this work is no different. It contains umpteen simple practices, lifestyle changes and food habits that can be incorporated into one's life to live healthy. This a gem, a gift to the humanity.
