Allpa 42L Travel Pack, Black

Best travel backpack I have ever owned. Even better than my Osprey. Loved the zipper compartments built into the bag to keep things organized and separated. Also loved the hip belt to allow for less weight on the shoulders.

This pack is our family’s favorite travel pack! My husband got one for quick trips. Then, I picked up one so we could use it for traveling to Peru for hiking. Currently, we just returned from Italy and picked up 2 more of these packs for our kids for the trip. No checked bags, easy travel on trains, it was amazing! Our family ranges from 5’ to 6’3” and this pack fits well for everyone. It has tons of different zippered storage compartments to get everything packed tight and organized. It has 4 internal zippered compartments as well as 2 external zippered storage areas: 1 padded for laptop , 1 for easy access essentials. It has held up well through multiple years of use. We most frequently use it as a backpack, but all the straps slide inside the pack so the straps can be protected when checking it on and it is super easy to do. It’s super light weight and the outer front shell is a more durable material which I highly recommend for durability.

Expensive but great pack for traveling. Many pockets and zippers.

CONS: Took off one star because the outside material will show scuff/ scratch marks. Used once and have one long scuff mark already. Over time, this is not going to maintain new look. Packed for 10 days and was able to still use as a carry-one on two different airlines. Weighed about 20# which doesn’t seem like a lot, but if you have to carry (vs. use as a backpack), it does become heavy. Many plus features as described in description which overall, makes this a good buy.

Very roomy and light weight, Excellent design… opens like a book.

I have the previous version of the Allpa 42 and it's a great bag. The newer version costs more and has lost options. The in-pocket dividers are now gone so just big clumsy mesh pockets. The mess pocket in the main compartment has been removed as well. The new version does not include the rain cover or the duffel strap as the previous version did. It's still a good bag, but find the old version if you can.

Many storage compartments & utilitarian. Looks great too. High quality construction. Small issue on the upper part of the main zipper, seems to catch a bit when fully packed. Oh. Also wish the zipper pulls were a little longer to more easily grab onto. But perfect size for weekend travel.

Ok so I love the size of this bag and the clamshell style approach. The pockets are all awesome as well, HOWEVER I hate where it bunches up and messes with the zipper. It's a design flaw because my 35L does the same thing in the same spot. If you pack it out with a full load, it always feels like the zipper might break in the one spot. Additionally I think the pull tabs need to be different as that is also a bunching up point.
