5 star on all counts as long as coating holds up
So far I give this a 5-star review, however, time will determine whether the coating holds up better than Ember. I like the larger 18 oz size of this mug, and the feel of the coating. I defected from Ember mugs as their coatings do not hold up over time. Considering the cost of these mugs, I want it to last more than a year and not worry about the coating material seeping into my coffee or tea--not to mention it just looks gross. What I like better than Ember: 1) Nextmug is a manual operation with simple on-off and temp buttons on the base of the mug. It can be set to one of three temperatures (At first I was setting it to the highest temp, but found that the second one is better for me for an easily drinkable temperature.) 2) I also like being able to turn it off when I finish the cup to prevent the congealing of remnants on the bottom of the cup like happens often with the Ember mug (yuck), and that it doesn't drain bandwidth from my wireless network. 3) Also I found that Ember mugs would not heat the liquid back up if it had cooled down (this happens if you have the mug off the charging coaster for too long or leave it sitting for too long). The Nextmug also has an auto shut-off, but it will heat the drink back up if you reset the temperature. 4) I like that they include the lid with your purchase. This helps keep the drink hot longer, which preserves battery life. Tips: 1) I don't use a metal spoon and keep a plastic spoon (you know, one of those heavier duty ones you get from the froyo stores?) by the coffee pot to stir sweetener or creamer with these mugs, just to prevent unnecessary scratching (as I did with Ember), and only hand wash as per instructions from the manufacturer. 2) I have also purchased two additional charging coasters so I can have one by my living room chair and by my desk where I spend the most time, and one in the kitchen for overnight charging. All I can say is if the coating material doesn't degrade like the Ember mugs have (I've seen this happen on the three different Ember mugs we've owned as well as several my daughter and husband have purchased), it will hands down be my preference and recommended self-heating mug option. I will update my review if I see the coating begin to degrade, but I purchased this in Nov. 2024 and so far so good.

Super happy with the Nextmug Plus
I’d wanted a self-heating mug for a long time, but the “name” manufacturer didn’t offer a larger size until very recently. I purchased the NextMug Plus in 18 oz and have been really happy with it. The battery lasts a long time (though I have the charging base at my desk, so longevity is never a problem), and it’s well sized to give me a large cup of tea or coffee to nurse for a while while staying piping hot. I set mine to the middle level of heat (out of three options), and I find that as hot as I want it. The third level is almost scalding to me. While it is hand-wash only, it is easy to clean, having a wide mouth and good handle to hold on to while soapy. I use a fat bottle brush in it, and it works fine. It also has a temperature gauge on the side to show you not only the setting you’ve set, but also the relative temperature of the contents. It won’t fit into a car cup holder, so travelability is limited, but the lid is splash resistant (not splash proof). I like the slate blue color I purchased; it’s a good looking unit all the way around, and it feels solidly built. Overall, I’m very impressed.

Quality, best stuff available. Size matters!!!
I have it several days now. Piping hot is awesome. The feel and the build is magnificently done. I bought the 18 oz. I love a big cup. I saw the Ember at costco, it is so small not worth the purchase. When I purched this NextMug I bought the 4 year warranty for only $32.00. Its a fantastic Insurance Policy to have. If you can afford the NextMug I highly recommend this product.

Make Nextmug your next Mug….
This cup is incredibly versatile and has three heat settings: 130°, 140°, and 150°. These settings work well for me, allowing me to brew tea, coffee, and hot chocolate to my preferred temperature. The charging coaster pens are significantly larger compared to competitors, providing ample power for charging. Additionally, the cup displays the current temperature and battery level at a glance, making it easy to monitor its status. The 18-ounce capacity is perfect for my needs. About nine months ago, I bought a competitor’s cup (the largest available 14oz). Unfortunately, I didn’t use it for more than nine months. It began overheating, causing the charging pens to burn. After burning up three coasters, I realized that the problem wasn’t the charging stand; it was the cup itself.

These work great but are pricey.
I bought this one for my husband and so far it is working great. It’s the second one we purchased. We have had the first one (mine) for almost a year. Keeps coffee hot. Mine will now only turn on if the mug is set on the charging disc for a moment and then turned on. It then shows a full battery and can be instantly taken off of the charger. If the temperature is changed to another setting while off the charger, the mug will shut off, or if the mug sits for any amount of time it will also shut off even though it still has full, or near full, charge. I was able to get it to work for a small amount of time by doing the reset process of holding the power button down for 5 to 10 seconds on each of the settings (once the mug was turned on by the charging disc) and advancing to the next setting, but then it would go back to doing the same thing it was doing before after a short bit. It has worked for the longest amount of time once I left it on the piping setting and let the coffee mug heat up all the way and then shut it off so far it will still turn on every now and then. We have let the company know this and they have been very responsive to the emails. Hopefully if you have these same issues this will help. The mugs are made very nice and mine still looks like new. I do think they could be a little cheaper on the price though. I would have purchased for Christmas gifts if they weren’t so expensive. Super easy to use when they work and hold a charge very well if you don’t want it on piping all the time. piping is SUPER hot lol. It is very true to its name lol.

Close to Being a Great Cup, But Bad Electronics Made it a No Buy!
Review Revised because replacement cup had the same battery problem. The cup looks very nice, and the charging pad is small and easy to place on a desk. I like the size, 18 oz, and the handle. Its low profile makes it stable and not easy to knock over when its on your desk, and the color is very nice. Not too many negatives, but they are Big ones. I dont recommend this cup because of the poor battery life and the inside of the cup is made of plastic. I want to recommend this cup, because they almost got it right, but I cant. Cons: 1. The inside of the cup is made of plastic rather than using stainless steel or ceramic. At this price point (almost the highest price for any self heating cup), it should not be plastic. The cost would have been minimal. The plastic will ultimately come off from cleaning or scraping as you stirr, which you will then ingest. Other reviewers claim that their paint is already chipping. 2. The battery does not last long. I am getting 1 hour on the medium setting with the lid on, before the battery dies, not the 4.6 hours that the manufacturer claims. That is after a full night of charging. The high temperature setting will run the battery down even faster. You will need to keep this on the charging stand at your desk if you like to sip your coffee slowly like I do. But even that will not work. The cup automatically turns itself off after about an hour or so, even if it is sitting on the charger with a full charge. So you have to remember to keep turning it back on, over and over again. 3. The price is very high, 2 to 3 times the price of the other self heating cups, especially for the poor engineering. I returned the cup for a replacement, and the replacement was worse than the first cup, so I returned the replacement also. For $25 I might have kept the cup, but for $125 No Way! I give this cup 10/10 for great design and 1/10 for poor engineering and electronics.

Sehr zufrieden 👍

100% happy with this product! (Aussie review)
Does what it says on the box! Piping mode kept my coffee at the perfect temperature, right to the last sip. That is, really hot - right on the cusp of being too hot. And I drank it over an ~20min period. After which, the battery meter still showed 3 out of 3 LED's. The 18oz version allows ample space for the standard 2 shot, 12oz or medium flat white from your barista (~20mm below the rim). The mug is beautifully aesthetic, and feels great in your hand. It's a little heavy, but what do you expect from an electronic battery powered device with enough oomph to keep your coffee piping hot for a more than ample time period. It's an indulgent purchase. It's a ridiculous expense. But it appears to be a high quality product - I'm keen to see how it performs with daily use - hopefully it continues to perform for years? It definitely appears as though it will. If you like your coffee to stay nice and hot, this is what you want! Warning: You'll need a US to Aus GPO adaptor, but they are cheap and readily available.

2 poliger USA Stecker, kein Adapter
