It’s a good tool.
So far ran 2 cases of griprite 1-1/4 inch nails and a few coils of 1-3/4 inch nails through it. No jamming. I like the empty lock out feature, keeps you from punching holes in the shingles. The nail depth adjustment is easy to use.

Useful tools
I’ve used this nailer on several roofing projects — it performs excellent. Consistent depth, strong drive, and lightweight for long hours of work. Never had a jam or leak. Great balance and quality from Bostitch!

I received the 46-1, yay.
Ordered mine in August and wasn't sure if I'd get the RN46 or the RN46-1. I got the 46-1 version and the last nail lockout is a real improvement. No more partial clips discarded for no reason or nailer punches in good shingles that do have to be repaired or replaced. Shot 12 squares and worked exactly as it was supposed to. First thing to learn is the spool has to load along the top of the magazine and reloads need to put a nail all the way into the breach. Other than that, just like any other nailgun.

Great - But Could Have Been Excellent - Not Site Ready
You can tell from all the other rave reviews that this gun is top-notch, so I'll only comment on why I did not give it full 5 stars (Not Site Ready)... 1. Does not come with the air hose connector. If you're a professional you have a bunch of these in your tool bag; if you're a DIY'er doing your first roof or switching to a new gun you might not. There is no real excuse for not providing the connector. 2. Does not come with even a sample amount of lubricant. Unless you have other tools that require the same lubricant you probably don't have this in your toolbag, and they recommend a couple drops at least once a day (depending on use of course). 3. No case? Good grief. I know this thing is made of tough parts, but all air tools need a case not only for protection but so you can keep all of the extras together with the tool (e.g., lubricant, users guide, etc.). And it needs a box to it can go on the shelf in the garage nice and neat. 4. Description says the RN46-1 has two modes - contact and sequential. NO - the RN46-1 is contact only; the RN46-2 is sequential. Other reviews have pointed this out, but the description has not been updated. I've seen this same wrong product description on multiple sites so it came from the manufacturer that way. All of my Cable Porter air tools have a simple trigger switch to "convert" between the two - the Bostitch is one or the other forever. Since I generally do small jobs (not a professional) I usually go conservative with sequential mode to avoid accidents (have not shot myself yet :-). That said, this gun really moves through shingles fast so I'm good with it - just have to be careful about pulling that trigger unintentionally. (oh, and I did not buy the CP nailer for this job because it had more reviews about "jamming" which is unacceptable - I have not had any jamming issues with my other CP nailers, though). 5. (this is just a comment) - the gun I received is orange, not yellow. The pictures show a DeWalt yellow gun, but the one I received is definitely orange. Does not effect performance ;-) In fact, it makes it easier to find this tool among all my DeWalt drills and such. The CP air tools are all bland black and metal which can make them difficult to find at a glance.

Great value and solid tool!
I am building a garage and had a Ridgid R175RNE sitting around forever unused. I got it out oiled it and started using it, and couldnt get it to sink 1-3/4" HD galvanized roofing nails. It kept Jamming, so I tried to find what was up with it online just to find that there was a recall on it and I sent it back to Ridgid (one world technologies) I pick up this nailer from amazon because I have the bostich strapshot and the cap siding nailer too and they are great. Out of the box little bit of oil the thing just went to town putting nails in without blinking. put in about 3 square and it jammed once. I cant blame the jam on the gun, because when I opened up the magazine I noticed that the nails in the coil were bent ( the coil was from the bottom layer of the box and probably bent from being dropped). I'm not exactly sure if the gun i got was new or refurbished or just resold because bostich guns never come with the air hose adapter and this one had one on it already. The packaging looked new. Only wish was that it came with a case like my other bostich guns.

Outstanding Performance and Durability - A Must-Have Tool..!
After consulting ChatGPT for an unbiased review of roofing nail guns and checking out YouTube, I decided to go with the BOSTITCH Coil Roofing Nailer (RN46), and I'm so glad I did. This nail gun is lightweight and incredibly easy to use, making it perfect for my first experience with a nail gun. Even though my project was small, having the RN46 made a huge difference. Without it, the task would have felt much more daunting, but with this tool, everything went smoothly and efficiently. It’s an excellent choice for beginners..!

Excellent Roofing Nailer
Used this nailer to do a big roofing job (86 bundles). Worked very well. I used 4-6 drops of air tool oil in the gun every 4 hours of use. Best feature is the nail depth adjustment right on the end of the gun. As the shingles heated up adjusting less depth and in cold weather adjusting for more depth. I would recommend this gun to anyone.

Quality build and Value for money
The pros: I purchased this gun after reading many, many forum reviews. It really came down to Hitachi, or this Bostitch for me. Funnily though, I never read any of the amazon feedback until I was about to purchase it, by which time it only confirmed what I already knew about the gun. The gun is well balanced in the hand, and comfortable to hold. It is also very light weight and does not feel cumbersome at all in use, not that I have used it a whole lot yet. For me at least it bounce trips and cycles perfectly, sinking 1 1/4" galv nails into 2 by lumber effortlessly and without excessive recoil. The side loading mechanism is amazingly easy to use and once you figure out how to load it, will be pretty quick to load coils of nails on the job. I will point out though that your nail coils need to be properly stacked coils, not squares, triangles or any other shape and should be neatly wrapped without tangles. If your nails are squished out of shape you will not be able to load them properly, if at all, in the magazine and they will likely not feed properly causing jams. This is true of most guns however and should not be viewed as a negative, it's just a heads up for anyone new to coil guns. The cons: The gun is not shipped with any 1/4" male air coupling. Something Bostitch has in common with Paslode and others, so don't expect to use this as soon as you open the box. You will need to fit your own air coupling before you can use it. I would recommend a 360 degree swivel type. The gun is capable of both sequential and contact tripping, however, only the contact trip trigger is supplied. This is possibly not a big deal if that's how you plan on using it anyway, however, I can envisage times when I may want the sequential firing for precision. If you were to use this gun for siding, for example, you will definitely want the gun in sequential mode. Another niggle about the gun is that it is not supplied with a small starter bottle of oil. I know it's not a big deal, most folks buying this gun, myself included, already have multiple guns and oil already and are aware of the need to lubricate a pneumatic gun properly during use and storage, however, for someone buying this as their first gun, they should be aware that along with an air coupling, they will also need to buy some oil before getting started with it. Lastly, the gun does not ship in a protective case, which for professional use is not really an issue as it will likely never be stored in it, however the weekend warrior may want a molded case for storage between uses. None of my niggles, and that's really all they are, is a deal breaker or reason not to choose this gun. In terms of ease of use, build quality and value for money, I really think you can't go wrong with this gun. The gun is a sturdy professional tool and will stand the test of time on any jobsite. It will also be equally at home for the weekend warrior. If not for the lack of oil and air coupling, I would have given this gun 5 stars.
