4 monitors on my MacBook M4
That's not counting the built-in display, which still works even with all four monitors connected. Worth noting is that I do NOT have the M4 Max chipset, so I'm using DisplayLink. My MacBook is model MX2U3LL/A (not that that matters much). My previous MacBook was an M2, and I was able to connect four monitors without having to resort to DisplayLink. I was disappointed to find that doesn't work with my new employer-purchased M4. From what I've read, Apple has limited display functionality to two monitors on everything except the Max in the newer chipsets. Stupid. I choose this dock after doing quite a bit of research. There are more expensive docks, but this seemed to be the one that would best fit my goal of connecting four monitors, and which seemed to have the fewest reported problems. it turned out to be a good choice. After installing the DisplayLink driver and connecting everything, then finally connecting the dock to my MacBook with the included Thunderbolt cable, all of the displays lit up. Quite frankly, I'm amazed at how easy it was. After reading the technical information about DisplayLink, I thought I'd have to spend hours fiddling around with things to get it working. I had zero hopes of this thing working right out of the box, and it surprised me. DisplayLink isn't for everyone. I'm a software developer, so I don't care about ultra-fast frame rates. If you're a gamer, then DisplayLink probably isn't the right choice. I can't tell a difference between the two monitors using DisplayLink and the two using native graphics. All four monitors are set at their max resolution and there is no degradation in picture quality. Edit to add: As others have noted, this thing runs very hot. I have it just under the top of my desk, sitting on an old laptop stand so that it has some ventilation underneath. It sits about two inches under the top of the desk, so there's ventilation above as well. Having this thing under the desk has been one of the best things about it - I have a single Thunderbolt cable that reaches through to my desktop, which is all I need to connect my MacBook to its charger and all my peripherals. I frequently work from home, so I've been using this thing heavily for the past seven months with four monitors and numerous other peripherals. It has been 100% trouble-free. I have no doubt that heat can an issue without adequate ventilation. However, just like any other electronic appliance, if you allow it to ventilate as designed then you won't have any problems.

Works Fantastically (+DisplayLink)
I needed DisplayLink for another monitor on my MBP. No issues and I got another screen that is as responsive as the build in graphics cards. I use this as the single USB-C plug from my MBP to everything else. I'm use this for power, two HDMI hardware supported monitors, DisplayLink monitor and Ethernet. There are additional ports for other purposes I just simply don't have a need. I didn't care how big it would be, I have plenty of room behind my monitors on my desk. That said, this was smaller than I thought. It's got some weight but I'm amazed at how how much is packed into here There are many of these on the market that are cheaper that I tried, this little guy is a great value and just works!! You get what you pay for. Note: You must use a TB4 or higher uplink to the dock, the one in the box is this. If you do not you won't get proper sync to your other monitors and will experience flicker or monitors blinking on and off. I made this mistake and ended up buying a TB5 cable and everything went back to working.

Maybe not the best choice in spite of the reviews.
I purchased this based on online reviews and Amazon reviews. I should have paid more attention to the reviews that said the item was prone to being defective. I installed the dock and it worked great--for about 30 minutes then it just died. It appeared that it was getting no power but plugging it into different wall plugs and reattaching all connected cables didn't change that it didn't work. Look at other options such as Dell's or Lenovo's Thunderbolt docks instead of this one.

Works right out of the box
This is my 2nd dock from pluggable - the first one was a smaller version. Since I had the driver already loaded from the first pluggable dock, this new dock worked seamlessly as soon as I plugged it in. I have tried others from other companies selling on Amazon and they just dont work as well as pluggable - this saves me a lot of pain and it really works right out of the box. Just make sure you follow the directions of setting up and they provide a cable that has to be used from the pluggable device to your Macbook. My Macbook with the M1 chip does not allow multiple windows on external terminals but pluggable has figured out how to view different windows through the installation fo their driver which enables the viewing of different windows on different terminals. This model allows 4 external terminals and I have attached two external monitors and my larger screen TV, which I had to use the display link port on the pluggable and not the HDMI - this is done to stream on TV as well if you want to - if you use HDMI ports on the pluggable that will not allow you to stream on the TV - and for that matter it wont allow streaming on my my two monitors that I have connected through HDMi ports to the pluggable dock. It's a minor inconvenience but it has to do with copyrights I assume with the streaming channels and probably Apple, once you install the driver that is required to run the pluggable dock. To hook the TV to the pluggable you will have to purchase a cable that has an HDMI outlet on one end to plug into the TV and a USB C outlet on the other end to connect into the display link pluggable connection. A great buy and a fantastic product!

Quad monitor, reliable.
I use this on a mini-pc. Actually one mini-pc at a time of ten. Drives four monitors well, a qhd, a wide double qhd, and two 4k tvs. Also drives a usb hub. Hot swaps from one pc to another fairly well. I’m happy with the performance, the price was acceptable, but it does get warm (not hot) to the touch. It is fairly compact and fits nicely in my rack. I would buy it again.

Great product, but even better customer service.
Originally purchased on Cyber Monday, the item I received had been an open/used product missing cables and booklets. I was highly disappointed. I contacted Plugable's customer service immediately. Turns out, they have some of the best customer service I have experienced in a long time! The rep assigned to me was very polite, professional, and understanding. He mentioned that sometimes Amazon just cycles through returned products for some reason, and that's not in the hands of Plugable. However, Plugable immediately shipped me a brand new, unopened product along with a shipping label for me to print out to take to UPS to return the original item. Unfortunately, I had to print the label at UPS (which cost nearly $5 for a piece of paper...). I notified the customer service rep of that, and he sent me a refund for the label, too! Most companies can learn from Plugable on how to do customer service correctly. As for functionality of the product, it has worked extremely well for me. It does get warm, so I have it elevated on a tray to let air circulate, and I would say that's the only issue I have with the product. Currently running a usb-c to HDMI and a usb-c to DP from 2 of 3 usb-c ports, and have no issues on either monitor while having the TB4 plugged in my M3 Macbook Pro Max. I am planning on getting more monitors which is why I went with this particular model. Great product, and even better customer service. Will purchase more in the future!

Plugable for the win again!!
I recently purchased the Plugable Thunderbolt 4 Dock, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. This dock has truly transformed my workspace, offering both power and versatility in one sleek package. Design & Build Quality: The dock boasts a modern design that fits perfectly with my setup. It's compact yet sturdy, ensuring that it doesn't take up too much desk space while still feeling premium. Performance: With Thunderbolt 4, the data transfer speeds are incredibly fast, allowing me to quickly move files without any lag. I love that it supports dual 4K displays, making multitasking a breeze. Whether I'm working on spreadsheets or streaming content, the visuals are sharp and vibrant. Connectivity: The array of ports is impressive! With multiple USB-A, USB-C, and HDMI connections, I've been able to connect all my peripherals without any issues. The Ethernet port provides reliable wired internet, which is a huge plus for my work-from-home setup. Ease of Use: Setting it up was a cinch—just plug it in, and I was good to go. The compatibility with both Windows and Mac is a great feature, ensuring that I can easily switch devices without any hassle. Power Delivery: One of my favorite aspects is the power delivery capability. It charges my laptop while I work, eliminating the need for multiple chargers cluttering my desk. Overall, the Plugable Thunderbolt 4 Dock has exceeded my expectations. It has streamlined my workflow, reduced cable clutter, and enhanced my overall productivity. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their workspace!

Huge CPU drain using DisplayLink
Update 06.23.25: I didn't realize it for a long time, but the DisplayLink technology that they require you to use really chugs my computer. It uses almost as much CPU power as running After Effects. That's ridiculous. Switched to a T4 from CalDigit ... more expensive, but don't need to use DisplayLink. Another bonus of not using DisplayLink is that you can watch shows on Netflix and Prime or whatever. Displaylink doesn't allow you to do that, which is stupid. It works well and immediately. I've had a Tobenone product and it was bad. Plagued with constant hiccups and blips with monitors failing and flickering. This has been very steady. I love being able to clear up space on my desktop, so this is perfect. Lots of ports for USB and USB C, which is amazing. Easy to keep those pesky ext. hard drives out of sight. The only con, and the reason I give it 4 stars is because it, like so many others, relies on DisplayLink to operate. This means you can't watch Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV or any other proprietary streaming service—something to do with copyright. But I don't understand it or like it. There has to be another way to do this so you can still watch tv on your computer while hooked up to this. Perplexing.

Functional and compact Thunderbolt 4 Dock. Runs warm, but not hot
My Dell Inspiron laptop has only one Thunderbolt 4 downstream port. I have 2 Philips 27 Inch 4K monitors and a Crucial SSD drive that I wanted to connect through the dock. Also wanted USB ports for USB A and USB C connectors. I currently have my laptop connected to the upstream T4 port and all 3 downstream T4 ports connected to the 2 monitors and SSD drive. Its working perfectly so far. Other reviews have complained that the unit runs too hot. I have mine sitting on a corner of the shelf above the desk and it is warm but not hot, so that eases my concern about that. However, I would avoid placing anything on top of the dock. I used the T4 ports to connect the monitors rather than HDMI so that I would not need to install the DisplayPort software, so I have not tried that method of connecting the monitors. That's all I have used so far. So far so good. The upstream connector for T4 to the laptop is located on the right side of the unit. This allows me to unplug my power adapter and leave that in my case for use only when I travel. Only unplugged it recently, but so far seems to be doing a good job of supplying power to the laptop which doesn't draw the whole 100W available. The connector on the side is a bit unusual and makes cable management a bit trickier especially if the T4 connector on your laptop is not on the left side. However, I suppose a valid solution for that is to flip the dock unside down so the connector is on the right side. Plan to use the USB A connectors on the front for other sometimes connected stuff like my iPhone 15 etc which has enough power delivery to charge the phone. My Logitech Unified receiver is plugged into a laptop USB-A port so that it stays with the laptop when I unplug from the dock, so I have lots of USB-A ports remaining.

Works great with minimum setup
This is not the cheapest box but you pay for quality. I've been looking for TB 4 doc station for a while, so far I'm very happy with this box. I working with two external monitors (1xUSB-C, 1xHDMI), I have my headphones Bluetooth USB-C and another small USB-C port extension. Also USB-A external HDD, and still ports available like jack and SD card slot. But the best part is ease of use. I just connected it and it worked out of the box. Seamless switching between two different laptops. So far so good! And recommended.

awkward USB A/B locations. cannot use power button to turn on computer, overall a nice product
Hacing USB A/B ports on the front is awkward design but understood given the back is full. Utilizing the side may be a better idea. Cannot turn the computer on and off using the power button on the dock, so it appears irrelevant to have the power button. Other than that its a great product.
