Very pleased with this one
I bought a canopy last year from Wal-Mart (can't even remember the name) and immediately took it back once I put it up at home. It just didn't look like it would of held up very well. I figured I'd wait for the right one to come along at a good price and I think I found it with this particular one here. It is pretty solid when compared to some of the others that I've seen. The canopy itself seems to be sewed together nicely too. It fits well on the frame and has extra material on the corners to hold up to the pressure that is put there when fully extended. I had a little problem trying to drop down the legs. I was pushing the button and pulling on the leg but it wasn't dropping down. All I had to do is just pull a bit harder and then I could get them to drop. I think I was babying it too much at first because it was new. The LED light feature is really nice. The lights are already attached to the frame so you don't have to assemble a thing. The only thing you have to do is put batteries in the dimmer box...slide it into place...plug wire into box and you are ready to go. The dimmer box knob glows red when it is plugged in so you can find it in the dark as well. The lights can crank up very bright too...or you can dim them down to almost nothing. Putting it up wasn't too bad. For the first time it was a little frustrating. I still don't know how two people can put it up in 3 minutes. It took myself and another about 15 minutes...but that was the first time. I guess with practice you can work out your system. I haven't had it very long and I plan to take it camping this summer as well as use it for an upcoming yard sale and a party event later in the summer. If I run into any problems...I'll be sure to update the review. First impressions however are very good. It's built well and I think with the proper care this should last for a while. I got it at a great price here on Amazon too. It went on sale for $168 and they also offered a promotion for $20 off any Coleman product over a $100. So I got it for $148...with free shipping. Everything arrived well. It came packed in an outer box with the Coleman logo on the outside. Update: 6/26/14 I've been using this thing for a few years now and it is still holding up well. The led light system still works and the legs/frame are as strong as ever. The canopy has seen plenty of sun and rain with no problems. I just recently returned from my yearly camping where we were pounded with Amazon rain forest deluge for 2 hours. The canopy did leak after that...but to be honest every tent and even the tarps that I had covering one of the tents leaked! Some of the water leaked into the plastic LED light covers. I had to carefully pry them open to dump the water out...but they still worked! I've used this thing for backyard family events, yard sales, and other camping trips where rain was involved and it held up well. I just think it finally met it's match recently. I am still pleased with this purchase and I am satisfied with the build and quality of this particular canopy. I still recommend highly.

Really loving this canopy!
Just got this canopy for an upcoming camping trip. Set it up at home to check it out and we are very pleased. The design, stability, and craftsmanship are impressive. The LED lighting is simply the bomb and one of the things that swayed me to this canopy over others. I shopped long and hard, weighing the pros and cons of so many other models before deciding. My canopy wish list included size (atleast 10x10), with staight vertical legs, instant set up, screen walls (or the ability to add them), and that it be leakproof. The built in lighting wasn't really on my list, because frankly I couldn't find any model other than Coleman's that offered it. Price was also a big consideration. I was giving serious consideration to two other models that have screen walls and actually state that they are leak proof. The thing that held me back was the 400 to 450 price tag. Ouch! Now, I know several other reviews of this canopy warn that it is not leakproof and that Coleman doesn't sell it as such, but I think I can thwart that issue. Here's my logic. Back in April, we purchased a Coleman Instant Tent, even after reading mixed reviews, some reporting the Instant Tent leaks and others saying not. I went ahead and ordered it because we really wanted the instant set-up and were willing to utilize a tarp if leaks happened. We're seasoned campers and have been faced with having to remedied "rain leaks" many times. First trip in our new Coleman Instant Tent ended up being 4 days of nearly non-stop rain, very heavy at times. The tent didn't leak, not even a drop. I'll admit, we put a tarp over it the second day, but that was because it was storming so hard that we feared falling debris from the trees would stain or perhaps puncture our new tent. Since then, I've checked out reviews of Coleman's Seam Sealer. I've never used it but everyone seems to have good results. Our experience with the Coleman tent gave me the confidence to go ahead and try their canopy. And, although I've not yet used it while camping and therefore haven't rain tested it, I plan to treat it with Coleman Seam Sealer and hope we stay dry. I ordered the Coleman Instant Tent Screen Walls, as a compliment to the canopy. So glad we did, they fit perfectly and we are thrilled. At this point, I'm quite happy with our purchases. Having gotten everything on my canopy wish list, plus the LED lighting is a complete bonus, and all for under $300 delivered! I'm feeling as though I've shopped victoriously! I'm also hoping I'm not bragging too soon. Our trip is planned, 5 days in November. We live in Florida, so we're almost assured of rain. I'll update after I find out whether or not my scheme to own a leak proof screened canopy at an affordable price has ended as I've planned. Wish me luck!

A Good Investment!
Just ordered my second one! It was easy to put up with the help of another person - though we actually had 4 of us doing it. Lots of room and height. The dimming lights are such a great bonus. Provides great lighting in dark area. We originally bought this for a party we had to have a shaded place for the bar and some food. It worked perfectly! I did purchase extra things for it because my plan was to keep it up all summer to block off pesky neighbor and also to have a shade area. We got one privacy/sunwall panel - super easy to attach and does the trick! I got the King Canopy weight bags and filled them with pebble rocks from Home Depot to add extra anchor weight. We did secure the canopy very well with the provided ground spikes and rope for each corner - staked into the ground.. It lasted the summer through 2 or 3 major storms with heavy rain and gusty winds. It lasted through the fall again through some storms. We were amazed!! We had planned to take it down for next season but got caught off guard with a snow storm- and there it stayed through the Northeast winter! It lasted through a few snowstorms-I went and knocked the snow off a few times... but come February there was a about a foot long tear in the canopy. It kept tearing and then the Blizzard showed up! The four sides all remained in tact. the canopy tore from where the original rip was and pulled just one of the ceiling brackets... then just that section collapsed under the weight of the snow. Expected! But again, let me add it was one tough product!..... As far as leaking goes I did spray with a waterproofer and did the seams too... a little bit of water came through and the light unit eventually filled with water. But again if you take this down in bad weather it will last! It is a canopy as stated - not a camping tent! Convenient roller bag included. I just ordered another one!! and will keep using until I can build a permanent structure. Good investment.

No Leaks During Torrential Downpour
This is a shade canopy. It's NOT a rain shelter. If I have this in a rain storm, I don't expect it to keep water from getting under it..The first thing I did when I got this out of the box the first time and set it up was to seal all seams inside and out with Kiwi Camp Dry. I then left it up for a day to ensure the seam sealer dried. That said their is still an open vent at the top. Rain WILL get in. It is not a tent. With that said, during a recent 4 day camping trip, this canopy was exposed to steady afternoon showers 3 days in a row. On one of those days it was exposed to what I would call 30 - 45 minutes of torrential downpour. I spent the entire time under this canopy during that downpour and not a single drop of water leaked through the cover. We camp a lot so we were looking for a canopy we intended to leave up for days at a time over the picnic table that normally comes with the campsites in the state parks we typically visit. After a lot of online research and seeing what other fellow campers were using, it came down to this and the equivalent EZ-Up brand and this one won out because of the lights. The carry bag comes with wheels which is helpful except when pulling it in really rough terrain. One end of the inside of the bag has molded indentions where the leg feet go helping give it a secure fit. There is a second zipper which expands the bag slightly if you are having trouble getting it to zip closed. There are also latch straps on the outside of the bag top and bottom to help secure it. So far we have never had any trouble getting it to fit back in the bag or use the expansion zipper to do so. Set-up, with two people, takes under 5 minutes counting staking it out and attaching the velcro to the frame, and hooking up the light switch module. That last 1/4" - to 1/2" when raising the bar to lock in place will take a little umph to get it to snap lock but after the first couple of times doing it you get the hang of it. The guy lines are good and come with adjustment clips for easy tightening. The stakes are the solid 10" variety. If you think you will need it to withstand stronger than normal, sustained winds or gusts, I would suggest using a set or two of canopy weights in addition to the guy lines and stakes. If you have no way to stake it down because it must go up on a hard surface like concrete, then I personally would add some canopy weights to the legs. The four LED puck lights are a really nice feature. They come already attached. You will just have to add some D sized batteries to the light dimmer switch and slide it into place on the leg with the already attached bracket. The connection wire is already there and ready for you to plug it in to connect the switch to the lights. The dial dimmer is really a nice touch as it allows you to get the lighting just the way you want it. The vent at the very top center of the canopy can help exhaust heat on those hot humid days like we get in Southeast Texas in the summer. I highly recommend this canopy. Just seal the seams and it will not leak if it is put up correctly.

I like it very much so far
I bought this Coleman Instant Canopy, via Amazon Prime as a great price, with LED Lightning a couple of weeks ago. It came well packed with no damage. It set up easily, especially for first time. Instructions are a little spare, but I was familiar with such. It would be hard for one person to erect the shelter, but it can be done with knowledge a patience. The LED lights are fairly bright and really nice to have. I set it up in my back yard for Easter and my many guests really liked it. Two of my relatives said that they wanted to buy one. The fish on the Texas coast a lot. I kept the canopy up for 6 days through one thunderstorm and it held down and I saw no significant leaks. The rain period was short and winds were not too high. Instructions did not say to keep the cover on while folding the unit away. I kept it on, and it seemed to pad the lights and made the unit snug in the great bag (with wheels) that comes with the unit. It was very easy to fold up and put in the bag, but it requires two people due to weight. I suppose one strong person could do it. There are nice foot holders as part of the bag bottom where the unit feet fit in, which was nice for a solid bottom. I also bought a Coleman Instant Canopy Sunwall Accessory for about $20 which fit nicely on one side. The battery pack (which must be removed to fold up the unit) and the stakes went in the top of the bag. Even the sunwall fit in the top of the bag and gave the battery pack a little padding.

Poor Quality, Heavy, Hard to Set Up, Impractical Canopy
Pros - it looks pretty. Cons -- so many cons. Heavy, hard to set up, poor quality. Used one time and small connectors on the metal frame broke. We took it down and put it back in the box. Can't comment on the lights because we never had an opportunity to use them. Unfortunately the first time we attempted to use the canopy was just after the 30-day Amazon return period so we can't send it back. Shame on us for not waiting until the last minute to purchase this item. Too bad for us that we also purchased accessories for this thing, which are unopened and will never be used. This item is somewhat difficult to set up and cannot easily be set up with two people. This is not our first canopy so we are not novices. We thought the Coleman Instant Canopy with LED lights would be a welcome upgrade from what we currently own and because Amazon had fantastic reviews. What a mistake. BUYER BEWARE. Don't trust the unverified purchaser reviews or verified reviews from the Vine program or people who received this item for free. Once upon a time a good Amazon rating had meaning, but those days are long gone. Amazon, you need to redesign your site so that people can search items and only look at VERIFIED purchaser reviews -- and verified purchaser reviews should not include people who received the item for free. With so many positive reviews and the Coleman brand name, we were sure that we couldn't go wrong, but the quality of the frame is poor. Set up is difficult -- there is NOTHING that is "instant" about setting up this canopy. The word "instant" more appropriately refers to your use -- you may get an instant of use, but the thing won't hold up. We would not recommend purchasing this canopy to anyone. We are very disappointed and Coleman, you should be disappointed to have your brand name associated with this product.

Excellent product
End of summer update: I have had this Coleman Canopy set up on my deck the entire summer, and it is STILL in perfect condition. Since it is on my deck and not grass, I have 3 of the legs tied to the deck rails for stability instead of using the ground support anchors that come with it. We have had many days with wind and rain just short of a hurricane and this tent was amazing - water rolls right off and does NOT pool. As I do with all products I purchase, I viewed many reviewer comments. Many commented that they sprayed waterproofing on the seams to prevent them from leaking. So for $5, I bought a small can and sprayed all seams on the top. That said, this canopy absolutely does NOT leak. It has held up perfectly for the entire summer and into the fall through some pretty nasty weather, and it still looks and performs like it just came out of the box. By far, the best canopy we have found. Early summer review: Extremely fast/easy set-up. High-quality materials. Totally unaffected by high winds & torrential rains. We did waterproof seams as others suggested. Many commented on the fact that the seams leaked in heavy rains, as is true with any tent/canopy with seams. We bought a small can of spray waterproofing for all the seams - problem solved and not a drop has come through. The biggest problem we had with other products we have purchased was the fact that the canopy would sag in heavy rains, causing the water to pool up at the edges creating huge pockets of water. We have had several pounding rain/wind storms that lasted a long time and the water just slid right off without any sagging or shifting of the material. I am amazed at how well it has performed under the conditions we have had so far. Also love the lights of course.

Great shelter, but lacks durability
I really liked this canopy, while it lasted, which was a total of two uses. It is much better-built than the cheaper versions you find a Wallymart. It goes up easier, because the parts snap into place very well - with a large friendly red button to work the latches. It uses velcro to hold the canopy in place, and that also makes setup easier. It comes with heavy-duty stakes to hold everything down. It packs away in its case very nicely, but it is quite large, and certainly the largest single item I own for car-camping. The lighting system is simply awesome. Put four D-size rechargeable batteries into the CPX-6 module, and lighting will last 3 nights in camp before recharging, assuming 4 hours per night and medium brightness. It's fully dimmable, going from dim mood lighting, all the way up to very-bright, and brighter than you would set the lights over the dinner table at home. The silver finish on the inside reflects light downwards, resulting in an enormous, super-soft light source. It made me rethink owning two LED lanterns, because those lanterns need to be placed up high, (in a tree) they spill light everywhere, and are annoyingly bright single source of light. This canopy's lighting is so so much better. Combined with LED headlamps, there's no other lighting you need around camp. Unlike most other outdoor stuff I own, this canopy is not very durable. A moderate 25 mph wind will completely destroy it, and that did happen to me. If the base is securely staked down, wind will easily push the canopy sideways, and the thin metal frame will buckle and break apart. Such damage is not repairable, so time to go shopping for a new one, or just give up on Coleman. If you're like most people, you stake it down, but you don't bother with the four tie-downs, but that would be an error. I suspect that if I did secure those tie-downs, it might have survived the wind. In future, to guard against wind damage when left unattended, I might consider lowering the canopy legs, so that the whole thing sits lower to the ground -- in addition to securing it with the tie-downs. I'm waiting to hear from Coleman as to whether a replacement frame is available. My experience with Coleman is that you're on your own, so I'm not expecting much help from them. I bought it 2 years ago for $139, and now they cost $180 and the new model (double-capacity battery module) is $240. Ouch! I can't complain too much, it's very inexpensive for what you get, although one should set expectations that it won't last a lifetime. Compare with the 12x12 screen-room shelter made by Eureka, which I used to own, and cost $400. The Eureka packs smaller, is lighter, has full flyscreens and storm flaps, and it would just bend in the wind. I feel like it would have lasted much longer than the Coleman, but I do prefer the easy setup and features of the Coleman.

Amazing & Bad
Great for light rain and the led lights are perfect. If rain persists it leaks. Recommend buying some Nikwax or kiwi wax to spray the fabric.
