AMD RYZEN ™ 7 9800X 3D Desktop Processor (8-core/16-thread, 104MB cache, up to 5.2 GHz max boost)

At time of writing I’ve had this CPU for around 6 months. Installation is easy, in my case I got a recent motherboard so didn’t even need to do a BIOS update to get the CPU to be recognised. I paired this with a good quality air cooler and it’s been easy to keep temperatures comfortably cool. Because it’s a recent CPU and is pretty efficient, you can do that without creating a ton of fan noise. The performance has been superb, it’s expensive for sure but it’s handled everything I’ve thrown at it so far with very consistent framerates. Ultimately, your mileage may vary depending on what you pair it with, so be sure to research beforehand and pick a GPU and other components that compliment it well.

Recently upgraded my build to the following: CPU: 9800X3D Motherboard: X870E AORUS PRO Graphics Card: Powercolor Hellhound 7900 XTX CPU Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO Memory: 32GB DDR5 6000MHZ CL30 XPG Lancer Blade RAM Case: Antec C8 (fanless version) PSU: CORSAIR RM1000x Gold Efficiency Monitor: Gigabyte 27" 4K UHD 160Hz AdaptiveSync HDR IPS Gaming Monitor Testing was done with settings as they were straight out of the box-only changes were enabling Expo in BIOS. Bought the chip as I succumbed to temptation lol (previously had a 7800X3D). And it's actually made more of a difference than I thought. Playing World of Warcraft, it's made a major difference with the 1% lows. I used to get some stutter with my 7800X3D in certain areas-felt laggy, but since swapping out I'm yet to experience any form of dip in performance. It feels so fluid, just great to play. And Overwatch 2, the perfomance is so much better as well. Baldur's Gate 3 - buttery smooth. Temps are perfectly fine as well, peak being 85 degrees in Cinebench 24 with a score of 1346 (multicore), and the temperature never going above 75 degrees in normal heavy gameplay sessions. Don't have a regret buying this chip-it's the ultimate gaming processor.

Best CPU on the market for this price to be honest. Runs everything smoothly without a single issue. I play BF6, CoD, GTA, Apex, etc Not a single issue with it, amazing processor. Amazing speeds, amazing graphics, easy to install, very nice.

I recently upgraded to the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and it’s been an absolute beast for gaming. With 8 cores, 16 threads, and a massive 104MB cache thanks to the 3D V-Cache, it chews through demanding titles like nothing. I paired it with a high-end GPU, and the frame rates at 1080p are insane—especially in competitive games where low latency really matters. The Zen 5 architecture feels snappy, and the boost clock hitting 5.2 GHz gives it serious punch. It runs cool enough with a decent air cooler, though I’d recommend something solid since it’s got a 120W TDP. No bundled cooler, but that’s expected at this level. It’s not the cheapest chip out there, but if you’re building a rig for high-performance gaming and want something that’ll stay relevant for years, this one’s a winner. I haven’t seen a single stutter since switching.

CPUs are pretty standard but this is great for gaming. Lots of cache for great gaming performance and stability. If you are doing heavy multicore tasks like rendering graphics etc I would suggest using the more expensive siblings in the range like 9900 range or even the 9950 if your have the coin, but for gaming this is the sweet spot and the value for money choice. If gaming is your usage case then get this, the more expensive offerings won’t give you enough extra in game performance for the extra money.

The 9800x3d is the fastest gaming CPU as of writing this. Upgraded from a 7900x to game on a ultrawide monitor. The gains on fps werent as massive as I thought they'd be and honestly a Ryzen 7 9700x would be a better buy for cost Vs performance or even a 9600x 1% lows are much improved which helps result in a smoother gaming experience for sure but I can feel the difference when multi-tasking it just feels a tad hung up at times. Temperatures on these chips are fantastic, mine never goes above 52c even when on a CPU benchmark using my 360mm AIO. 7900x would peak around 85c but just gaming around 79c If you want the absolute best go with this cpu it's more power efficient than anything intel can provide right now aswell as providing better performance.

amazing processor, came very quick too. runs fortnite with 7900gre at 600 fps which is what i care for. have no problem running other games but for comp games the cpu does its job especially for someone like me that upgraded from a 7500f which had stutters and frame drops

Amazing performance in gaming, with tremendous 1% lows in CPU bound games, providing a very smooth experience. The large 3D V-Cache makes it ideal for large scale open worlds, strategy games, and games with a lot of AI based features. This chips best fps gains are seen at 1080p. However, there is substantial one at 1440p, but minimal at 4k, if say coming from the 5800x3d. (Dependant on your GPU) Impressively, whilst providing all that performance, it is also very power efficient. I rarely see over 70-80 watts in the games I play. Overall, it is truly one of the best gaming chips out there at the time of writing.

Si eres jugador de PC y no te importa pagar un poco más que el 9700x este sin duda es el mejor procesador para jugar , plataforma am5 y todas sus ventajas , recordar que este procesador no trae disipador, pero gracias a su fabricación se calienta poco y con un disipador por aire de 40 o 50 euros lo mantienes fresquito

Le cache 3D fait la différence sur les titres CPU-dépendants : les FPS sont plus stables et les micro-saccades quasiment inexistantes. En multitâche (navigation, streaming, logiciels divers), tout reste fluide sans ralentissement. 🌡️ Températures & consommation Associé à un refroidissement liquide 360 mm, les températures restent bien maîtrisées, même en charge. En usage gaming prolongé, le processeur ne chauffe pas excessivement et ne montre aucun signe de throttling. La consommation reste raisonnable au vu des performances proposées. 🧩 Compatibilité & installation Monté sur une carte mère AM5 récente, aucun souci à signaler : reconnaissance immédiate, stabilité parfaite après mise à jour du BIOS. L’installation est simple si on a l’habitude de monter des PC. ⚠️ Points à noter Pas de ventirad fourni, il faut donc prévoir un bon système de refroidissement Prix élevé, surtout si l’on ne fait pas principalement du gaming ✅ Conclusion Un excellent processeur pour les joueurs exigeants qui veulent des performances élevées et stables, tout en conservant une bonne efficacité thermique. Un peu excessif pour un usage bureautique simple, mais parfaitement justifié pour une configuration gaming haut de gamme.

I’ve been using the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D for about a month now, and it has exceeded my expectations. I paired it with 32GB of RAM, an RTX 5070 Ti, and a 1000W PSU for my new gaming build, and so far everything has run flawlessly. Gaming Performance: This CPU delivers excellent results in modern titles. I’ve been playing Expedition 33, Wuchang, World of Warcraft, and Gears of War in 4K. While I can’t max out every single setting, the visuals are still impressive, smooth, and very enjoyable. The system stays cool under load, which gives me confidence in its long-term stability. Beyond Gaming: Outside of gaming, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D handles productivity tasks and multitasking with ease. It’s responsive and fast whether I’m running applications, browsing, or doing heavier work. Final Thoughts: If you’re looking for a CPU that balances gaming power with strong all-around performance, this is an excellent choice. The overall experience is smooth, stable, and reliable. Highly recommended for anyone building a capable gaming or productivity PC.

Best processor of 2025 for price/performance. The performance is almost unmatched and nearly top of the line with AMD. Plenty of cores and stays on par with Intels many cores. Very easy to install if you have your motherboard CPU installation plastic bracket. Feels durable enough that you could install without the motherboard plastic protector, but would always recommend using motherboard CPU installation protector. Excellent stability as well, this CPU runs at lower temps than my Ryzen 7 7800X3D while pushing more performance and power. This processor will go down in history for the year 2025!

Works as intended and runs much cooler than a 7800X3D.
