Great Rod, Amazon sucks at shipping them!
The rod is very good. I use it for bank fishing catfish and this rod doesn't disappoint! What is disappointing is the way Amazon ships them. My rod came in with one bend eyelet, no big deal... I got lucky... They are shipped in a bag, and then placed in a box with ZERO packing. The rod bounces around in the box, bend eyelets, and worse can be broken... I ordered a 2nd rod and it came in missing 18" of the tip. Hopefully the replacement will arrive not damaged.

Good beater rods for the surf
Just bought another 4 to replace the ones that I bought 5 years ago. These are cheap but good rods for surf fishing. I have caught hundreds of fish on these from whiting , bull reds, sharks and big southern rays. I put penn 25n on these and cast 5.5,8oz weights and bait. They work well and not too expensive that you don't mind banging up. Speaking of banging up, the shipping was pretty bad, they came just in a plastic bag. In the past they would at least put them in a long box. Because of this terrible packaging every rod had some guide inserts that fell out. The inserts were luckily still in the bags the rods were shipped in so I was able to pop them back in.

Great rod for the price
I used this rod to cast 8 ounce sinkers with large baits, long distances. It did an excellent job and has the backbone to handle large fish. When bank fishing it is often important to be able to cast distance. This rod has that capability plus can handle heavy weights and baits. The reel seat also held the Abu 7000 reel I used very security. At the price, it is well worth giving a try.

Definitely a good rod (12 ft.)
As others have said, this rod appears to be a great rod. I do wish that the tip were a little bit lighter, but it will definitely hold up. The handle is where the majority of the weight is concentrated (and it is surprisingly heavy), and in theory, this should actually aid in casting just a little bit farther. The reel seat is probably 18" from the butt end of the rod, which some people may not like, but I am not too picky about, and it gives good leverage for casting.

Fortunately, I was across the street from my house ...
I decided to try surfcasting with my avet MXL conventional reel that's always been used on boats til now. Needed a 12ft casting rod thinking I'd stay above the breakers and gain some distance. So I bought the 12ft Okuma Longitude rod Model # LC-C-1202H-1. When it arrived it seemed to be of decent quality although a little stiffer in the tip than I expected. I took it to across the street to an empty road leading into a park to test it out. The first cast went well.... no backlash and decent distance with minimal effort. On second cast again with minimal effort put into the cast, to my dismay the rod snapped below the 3rd guide. The rod is rated for lures from 3 - 8 oz and I was using a 5 oz sinker. Fortunately, I was across the street from my house and had not spent the time and expense to travel to a beach just to end up with a useless broken rod. I've been an advocate of Okuma as far back as I care to remember. This is not characteristic of the usual outstanding quality of their products.

Great Rods
Great Rods. Bought 2 @ 12ft Heavy. Don't need to buy another 12ft rod for awhile. if they ever make it in 13 ft id seriously consider it. Good weight and feel. Not too thick at the handles. Threw a 10 oz weight with bait just fine. 6-8oz is where this baby shined though.

Great surf rod
I have two 12' heavy casting and one 10' heavy spinning rod. I mainly fish a big river from the bank and occasionally surf fish. Easily handles throwing 8 ounces. Have caught several fish over 50 lbs with no issue. Pros: loads up nicely when casting, plenty of backbone, decently sensitive tip Cons: it's heavy but this isn't something you'll be casting frequently throughout the day

Awesome surf rod
Great rod for the price. Great finish, great tip action, and just what you need for getting your bait out past the breakers. Purchase the 12โ conventional. Paired with either a Penn mag or ABU 6500.

missing the tip
it looks like the very tip was cut. there is no guide just an angled nub. looks like a great rod but that's not super cool.
