As is normal for the beginning of my vegetable garden season, I had the raised beds garden soil tested for amending by my state agriculture department. This time the report stated my PH is 6.6 and was high for my intended usage. Before amending for potatoes and squash, I purchased this kit to test and compare its results with my state's current results, hopefully so I can monitor the affects of amending- using a home PH test kit. The initial test result using this test kit and viewing the closest match of the color bands using the same soil tested by my state a week ago, was ~ 6.5 (this kit only has 0.5 resolution.) I am pleased with this result. However, per this kit's instructions, one mixes the soil and water and then must wait for 30 minutes for complete stratification of the mixture to occur. Even after 2 hours of waiting, my water was still fairly cloudy, and I tested anyway. I have no idea if this lack of total stratification affects the results. At this point I am going to depend upon this kit's results for PH monitoring.

This test kit was just a okay. I was really excited to get it but it seemed like every time I used it in the same area I got different results. I tried it out in the same spot three different times and got three different results so I'm just not a true believer. It's super easy to use however. It's a great value for the money. And I was hoping that this was the route to go. I may have had just a bad kit and am going to try another one.

Got in to the rasied bet fever and got this soil tester. Comes with a bunch of strips and is easy to use and really effective. Discovered their isn't a big deal not waiting 30 min as suggested. Great for stabilizing seedlings beds too. Using it i have been able to improve my grow rate in two weeks. Tip. Use a ph neutral water so it wont alter the soil results.
