This did not work for my Mercury E2.
Bought this key for our boat. Needing a Mercury E2 key. Picture match our key exactly. When we received key it was not cut correctly. The depth and placement of cuts did not match photo online. Contact seller and tried everything they suggested to see if the ignition switch was the problem. Nothing suggested worked. Seller was easy to work with. No complaints with them. However the key was not cut correctly. Went to a Marina and got an OEM key and it worked fine. Nothing wrong with the ignition switch, just in correct cutting of this key.

Doesn’t fit for me but might for you
I lost my keys and have been ordering tons of keys for my motor. it’s an old 50hp mercury and the key here doesn’t fit. it might fit for you but take this into thought
