Trutein really is the best protein powder out there. It mixes a lot smoother with water than others (texture). I personally don't like all the flavors, but it tastes like what the flavor says it is. The banana doesn't taste like the "old timey" banana flavor in taffy -- it tastes like the ones you get at the store now, the flavor of the whole shake is reminiscent of banana pudding. The shakes are actually thick if you use 8 oz of whatever liquid, and they thicken up (just enough to notice a difference) as they sit if you leave it overnight. I think it tastes better with unsweetened plain almond milk, so I mix with 8 oz milk, and top off with 4 oz water. I purchased once from Amazon to give a try (also ratings), but I purchase from the manufacturer site now (body nutrition). There's usually a better price. Samples ship free.

I have never been a big protein shake person. I HATE the aftertaste and fake sugar always kills it for me. That being said, after not being able to meet my protein goals I turned to a body builder friend. She swore by this brand and she had tried so many brands before this. Pros So smooth. Blends beautifully in my electric blender! I add milk and coffee packets to the chocolate flavor and it's my morning guilt-free, blended mocha. I go to bed looking forward to having it the next morning. Very little after taste from the sucralose I feel full for hours after having this. Super fast prime shipping Cons Kind of spendy when my husband and I both are using it Does have a touch of that sucralose after taste. The flavor isn't super rich or sweet (but I am not convinced that's a con). I am choosing to by the 2lb jug right now as 4lbs is a LOT of one flavor. Chocolate is great for my mochas Peanut butter Marshmellow cookie is very mild but very tasty with a banana and milk added. I was very surprised. I don't like Marshmellow anything. Just ordered the mocha flavor to try it out! Update Tried the mocha. It's OK. It's a tad too sweet without much of a definitive flavor. Will probably go back to chocolate this next round until I want a new flavor.

I have been a fan of protein shakes for a very long time and tried many different ones over the years. This one is not bad. I usually go for the vanilla or banana flavors and therefore got the Banana Cream here. It turned out that the taste is ok, but I've had other shakes that taste quite a bit better (Dymatize brand or Syntha-6, for example) — fully realizing that many other reviewers here are very happy with the taste. Perhaps mixing with milk or cutting a banana into the mix will improve the flavor, but this will increase the amount of carbs. You might as well get a powder with a few more carbs to start with, as those typically taste better overall, even in water without fruit or milk added. The contents of this Trutein powder is good (a good mix of slow-digesting and fast-digesting protein types), but it could be improved by adding more fiber. 2.5 grams is a start, but 5-8 grams would be better, especially for people who use these shakes as part of a diet (rather than for body building, where you don't want to get full, so you can consume more meals throughout the day). Some reviewers noted that there was no scoop inside: There always is! After you open the tub, get a big fork and go digging, it's usually buried in the powder. Some reviewers noted that the can is not completely full: You still get the full amount by weight, though! I don't think I've ever opened a tub that was more than three quarters full. Granted, a waste of space, but I would not knock down a star on my review for it.

So far I’ve tried a few different flavors. I’ve ordered: Banana cream Peanut butter chocolate Strawberry cream And the peanut butter marshmallow but it wasn’t sent, and I received the natural PB chocolate I’ve used a plethora of protein powders over the past 20 years. Mostly due to dietary restrictions, and overall health and fitness goals in mind. I love the blend concept, just still trying to find a good brand so I don’t have to mix it all myself and have a ton of stuff lying around. Banana cream (7/10) is good, I add Greek yogurt and a banana w ice and it makes it really good. Chocolate peanut butter (3/10) is ok, but kinda has a medicine taste to it. The natural version is even worse. I add powder PB to both but it doesn’t get rid of that aftertaste. I doubt I’ll buy either one again. Strawberry cream (8 or 9/10) is amazing!!! I’ve tried about every strawberry protein and believe me I was sick to death of strawberry, vanilla and chocolate when I tried these. But this one is pretty damn good! It tastes like something you’d expect from a big chain juice bar. My kids even like the taste. I will continue to try other flavors. Might buy the sample packs, and go from there. I also want to try some other brands to compare, but I’m pretty impressed. It’s a little more per tub and you get about a lb less than a normal whey, BUT you also don’t know what you get anymore and it seems most are amino dumping and filling product with junk fillers. Had some hiccups on my last order, but it seems to have been resolved. The seller really came through even though it seemed to have been mistakes on someone else’s part. I really admire companies that take accountability even when it’s not their fault, so that deserves an honorable mention.
