i have 255/60R15 BFG 's on my 66 chevelle now with a snug fit, so this tire should fit as well since the tire size numbers are the same, correct?

I would think so as like you said y They are the same sizes as yours now. I have a 65 Malibu and they fit on it. Given I believe these were the largest I could go myself on my 65 and they fit snug too but they do fit.
