This LED corn cob retrofit was one of the best products that I’ve bought. We installed in pole lights that are 22ft from concrete to the top of the shoe box pole light head. When the building manager contacted me he said WOW! The new pole light lamps are mind blowing! He was over the top happy with the results. There was only one pole light head with a good lamp. The whole staff was raving about the brightness and the very sharp spread of light. Worth every dollar!

Those light bulbs are NOT HID-compatible. They are only advertised as such because they are including instructions on removing the ballast. They do not work with in the place oof HID light bulbs. Removing the ballast can be hard and impractical in many mounts. False advertising. In picture, you can see a metal halide light on in the background, but not this one.

I picked up a pair of the 200 watt variant of this bulb for my home office. I suffer from some serious SAD, and after reading a blog post about using extreme amounts of light to light up a whole room rather than using a small panel held 12-16 inches from the face (which is the normal treatment) I was intrigued. So I picked up a pair of torchiere lights, some e39-e26 adapters, and a couple of these bulbs. And oh my god, do these things put out some serious light. With two of them, I have to turn my monitor all the way up and am considering buying a brighter monitor to account for it. They do make some fan noise as they have an active cooler. I only intend to run these in the morning to make sure I can get my light when I get up, so I don't really care if they make noise. I suspect that if you are buying these for an industrial application, that doesn't matter. After a little more research I found some lights that are passively cooled and returned these.
