Is this ac or dc fan?

This is an EC fan, which is a newer subtype of DC motor which doesn’t require any additional power adapters. The conversion to direct current happens inside the unit instead of the the inside of the adapter

The fan chart on the pictures indicate that at approximately 50 mm H2O of static pressure, this fan is not capable of blowing any air. Is this true?

Yes that would be true. But if you are using it for what it was designed for it will work.

Question 3

How do you attach the speed controller? It didn't come with wires for it.

On the side if the fan mounting bracket there is a round 3 pin connector covered by a round cap (same as on side of speed controller). Mine did come with a pretty long wire that threads onto these two connections.

Question 4

Would this blower/exhaust be suitable for steam extraction? steam temperature would be approximately 150 degrees. Is the motor sealed from moisture?

Accepted Answer

The maximum operating temperature for this fan is 140F and maximum humidity is 90%. It does not look like a good option for the application you described, as the temperature over 140F will cause the fan to shut down by the built-in overheating protection. The humidity in you steam room will likely be permanently over 90%, causing problems over time.
