STANLEY 2.3/8" Jointer Bench Plane, 1-12-2007

The sole is flat out of the box, blade was sharp as well. Frog needed a little adjustment but otherwise great plane straight out of the box. For the price on a no7 you can’t go wrong with this plane. Absolutely love it and will recommend to anyone looking for a jointer plane in this price range.

Has expected expect handle was looking for a wooden handle but product work great

The thing is not straight ! The blade was bouncing around in the box and was chipped will need to be ground down and resharpening with need to be done it's all out of tune and needed to be taken apart and adjusted .. I'm still on the fence if I'm going to send it back and look at something else I have a month . I'm going to resharpen it to cut a hair and try it out.. far from what I wanted and the handles are trash straight garbage..

It’s an impressive plane. I like the weight of it when working with it. Out of the box I did not have to flatten The soul of the plane, or sharpen the blade. After a few months, naturally I had to flatten the bottom. And after a few hours I had to sharpen the blade. But that’s all to be expected of a new plane

Not worth the money. The quality is at the level of something that should be about 1/3rd the price. Cheap plastic handles and all.

Little work needed works great

I gave this product a one star rating because the plane was not made correctly. The castings for the base and the frog are out of tolerance causing the plane blade to rest at a severe skew. The skew is so extreme it can only be partially corrected with the adjusting lever. The only other way to deal with this problem is to hone the blade out of square. (Not recommended) Another problem I noticed was that the adjusting screw for the frog, the one that adusts the frog forwards or backwards, was not set at a correct angle. I believe this is the case because the frog rests on top of the adjusting screw causing the frog to (wobble?) on top of the screw. This makes adjusting and setting the frog in correct alignment almost impossible. Because of the problems encountered with this product I have requested a return. I would not recommend this product to a friend, only to someone I disliked.

The plastic knob was broken in half, so I made a new one that seems to work well. The iron doesn’t retract enough unless you grind the chip breaker back a little. The fit between the body and the frog needed some work. It’s pretty flat and it does it’s job, but I was hoping for a little more from Stanley.

Zunächst: Lieferung von Big Red Toolbox aus England ging sehr schnell. Und das noch kurz vor weihnachten. Zum Hobel. Preis/Leistung geht sehr in Ordnung. Das Messer ist Stanley typisch sehr dünn. Alle Stellschrauben sind leichtgängig und der Hobel lässt sich sehr gut einstellen. Klar ist aber auch, dass man den Hobel noch etwas nacharbeiten muss. Messer muss natürlich noch geschärft werden und man tut auch gut daran, die planheit der Sole zu prüfen und ggf korrigieren. Aber das ist kein großer Aufwand und man bekommt für wenig Geld eine gute raubank.

La entrega fue un desastre, la primera vez llegó roto. La segunda llegó bien pero con la cuchilla dentada y un filo pésimo lo que no se espera de Stanley ni de una garlopa de ese nivel de precio. Me toca afilar de nuevo por no tener que devolver de nuevo y seguir esperando...

This is an affordable plane , blade needs sharpening. I really have no negative comments. After setup ,I tried it on oak and it performed beyond my expectations... see video attached

Concave bottom surface. Makes the plane useless (unless you want to spend many hours to fix it yourself). Probably not an isolated issue as I've heard a lot about the decline in quality of Stanley planes over the last few decades. It says "Made in Mexico" on the box.
