Birch & Meadow Freeze-Dried Shallots, 1.6 oz, Sauces & Marinades, Seasoning

This is a good quality dried shallot. No skins, evenly chopped and has the concentrated flavor you’d expect from a dried something. I wish they sold it in a bigger size. If you use these in lieu of chopping fresh shallots, it won’t last you long.

I’ve started putting these in many sauces and dishes. I love to cook and always keep onions on hand but I rarely get shallots because I don’t need them often. I have found these freeze dried shallots work great when put in a liquid such as a sauce. I think it is important that these be rehydrated to achieve their full flavor. As long as you have broth, oil, or butter these should work great.

I purchased these for the cost savings and amount you get. I used to purchase small packets from an online spice shop. If you don't have fresh shallots these can be added to your recipe. I use them in my homemade spaghetti sauce instead of onions for a milder flavor. I usually freeze the packet. I'm trying to figure out how to do it with these for freshness.
