Meet Yasmin! Yasmin is a spirited second-grader who's always on the lookout for those "aha" moments to help her solve life's little problems. Taking inspiration from her surroundings and her big imagination, she boldly faces any situation, assuming her imagination doesn't get too big, of course! A creative thinker and curious explorer, Yasmin and her multi-generational Pakistani American family will delight and inspire readers. Review: Yasmin the Amazing! - Meet Yasmin is a breath of fresh air! Saadia Faruqi has written a lovely chapter book about an engaging Pakistani girl, and how she solves problems that children face. The vocabulary is accessible, while still teaching new words from the Urdu language. I love that many of my students will be able to see themselves in Yasmin, and others will get a glimpse of a culture that is both different, and also very similar, to their own. Hatem Aly’s illustrations are just perfect. I can’t wait to share Yasmin with my students! Yasmin is a second grader, but I think this book would be enjoyed by students in Kindergarten (as a read-aloud, or read-along) through 3rd grade emerging readers or English language learners. I’m so grateful I got to read and review this sweet chapter book! Review: Creative and Fun New Series with Wonderful Representation - Yasmin is a delightful character sure to be a new favorite for readers both young and old. She is bright, creative, and sweet — all the perfect ingredients for a new literary friend. Saadia Faruqi's stories are charming and fun, and Hatem Aly's artwork is fantastic. I want a poster of his Red Carpet splash page. Every kid needs a copy of this book!

A joy to read and educational
I liked reading about a Pakistani girl, which is very underrepresented in book publishing. I liked learning Urdu words, such as nana and nani. It was cute to read about Yasmin’s “adventures.” I think this is definitely worth recommending to young readers.

Love Yasmin!
Yasmin is a charming, feisty character, and kids will love to follow her along on her many, mini adventures. This is a great book for early readers or as a read aloud for the preschool set.

Grit and heart!
I'm excited about this because there are so few diverse books available for girls like Yasmin to read! I read through it and wished that my kids were not teenagers had this available when they were little ones and we used to scout libraries and bookstores four diverse books. this is an adorable story with an equally adorable protagonist: Yasmin has heart and grit. This is the kind of books parents across the world would love reading their kids before they go to bed and a great accompaniment for kids that are trying to read as well.

Representation Matters
We borrowed this book along with others from the series and loved them so much. I'd buying my 5 year old all of them. So I read them to her last year, but this will be her first "chapter book". My 5 year old is a Pakistani American, who follows the Muslim faith. So you can imagine, her excitement when she saw a character she not only resembled but connected too! It is critical to have children resonate with characters. Yasmin, is a strong willed girl like any other girl her age. And I am so happy to have a series, my daughter can grow with. Highly recommend.

Cute Book That Kids Can Relate To
I bought this book for my 2nd grade daughter, and she read it independently. She actually decided to play school with it, and she lined up her stuffed animals and read! So it is a very kid-friendly book. Yasmin is a cute, spunky girl, and the stories show us how it doesn't matter what color our skin is, we all have families and friends and events in our lives that are similar. It is nice to see a chapter book for early readers with a girl of color as the main character, but that is not necessarily why my daughter liked it or why she was excited when her teacher also had the book to read to the class. My daughter liked it (and I did too) because the main character is relatable and the story is well-written. The illustrations are delightful!

#RepresentationMatters
We loved this! We both read this in one sitting. My 8 year old daughter loved this and is waiting eagerly to read the next book. Yasmin is a delightful, intelligent girl who is definitely can be a role model for young girls. It's so important that all cultures and religions are represented in books and this book certainly does that.

Wonderful Diverse Beginning Chapter Book
Yasmin is fabulous! This transitional chapter book is a recent addition to our home library and my 2 year old loves it. This book contains a series of shorter, 3-4 chapter books about a Pakistani-American girl named Yasmin and her adventures. Yasmin is sweet, spunky, and kind. We love the multicultural perspective and opportunities to discuss the beautiful diversity in our world! Recommended as a read aloud for 2-6 or as a reader for 5-8.
