Genius SP-HF 1250B USB, Wired

I bought these speakers to use with my television set as my sound-base had given up the ghost. I had originally considered buying a new sound-base from a different manufacturer and went to look at some and read reviews. I then thought that speakers might be the answer so did some more research on Amazon and decided to buy these speakers and am very glad that I did.They look good and have a satisfyingly solid feel. The controls on the front are for Bass, Volume and Treble and feel very smooth in operation. The on off switch is on the rear of the speaker and is of the rocker type. All necessary cables are supplied enabling them to be connected to the headphone socket on a computer or television. My only niggle is that the power cable was not quite long enough to suite my needs and required a plug converter from two pin to UK three pin.The sound from these speakers is much better than their price would indicate. They have improved the sound I hear from the TV dramatically. They also sound very good when playing CDs. Don't expect the same sound you would get from large, floor standing HiFi speakers, but what you will hear is clear sound with sufficient bass definition to be realistic with treble that is not harsh and is pleasant to listen to. They have my wife's seal of approval as well. I can't as for more.These speakers are very good value for money.

OMG I never thought id gush over a pair of speakers BUT if you have a gaming unit or PC or even TV with dvd player you NEED these speakers. Never mind those tiny little plastic baubles that go for speakers these days. You want something tangible, weighty and smoothly defined on your shelf.These are dark wood effect bodies with black mesh front. The controls are on the front apart from the on off switch which is behind. I never turn mine off at all and can only hear a hum from the secondary speaker when I put my ear close to it.There is a bass and treble button either side of volume at the lower end of the speaker. These give you good quality control and sound pitch tone etc. The volume offered me much more than I had before as my hubbie is deaf in one ear. Because it is HDMI friendly I plugged it into my converter ( Older Monitor) and OMG the sound bounced around my room as if I was part of the star wars battle scene. It is hard to get used to lower volume when talking and powerful noises hitting you from each speaker when the world collides with others.BUT as an older user these beautiful speakers bought because of their size and power of 40w have transformed our musical and movie pleasure.They are solid , good size, unobtrusive in their darkness and their fronts don't look like a spaceship warp hole.I cannot say enough about them except - BUY them TRY them and I dare you to say you don't like them.

Good speakers for the price and size. Marked down because it doesn't come with a UK plug, which required me to go out and buy European to UK power adapter, not expensive but it was a hassle.

I bought these based on other reviews and because they were the size and colour I was looking for, for an audio system to go on top of the kitchen cupboards. I have them running from a raspi 2 with Runeaudio. Just using the audio out jack, not a DAC. We control them from a tab or phone. Overall I am delighted with them. The sound is very good indeed, good bass, clear middle and good treble too. No hiss or hum from the built-in amp that I can hear. Volume more than enough to impress a teen age son too! Been in daily use for web radio listening for several weeks now and they still put a smile on my face with the sound. It even impressed my wife, which is only about the second time I've done that....For the price I doubt that they can be bettered.I'm looking at other systems from same manufacturer for a system for another room. Will report back here in few months regarding reliability.

Looks great and definitely worth the money, however the description doesn't make it clear it uses an EU AC output, so now I have to find a converter to UK mains so I can actually use it

I bought these to use with a Chromecast audio and they don't disappoint - very clear audio, and the bass and treble help to lift the basic signal provided by the Chromecast without the need for an amp. I'll probably be buying another pair of these soon for the kitchen, as they blow the speaker dock we're currently using out of the water. My only criticism is that the bass isn't very deep, but otherwise they're a very good pair of speakers, and I doubt I would be able to find anything better at this price.

Lovely finish with the added bonus of having a line-in 3·5mm socket and independent bass/treble controls. Excellent sound with no distortion and evidently no trace of mains hum. A straightforward exercise to link up to the PC. No special mains plug required — it came with a normal British Standard certified 3-pin plug. Let's hope that it gives me the length of service that its predecessor gave. (If so, it will outlive me!).

Strictly for use with desktop PC, these speakers have excellent price/performance ratio. Powerful, and very strong,clear and detailed in mid range even at high volumes with reasonable fidelity in its price range, they serve my requirements more than enough. If you are a bass freak, these speakers are not for you.Try these speakers with your CDs that you are familiar with or YouTube HQ music videos to give you some idea.Very strongly recommended.Update 9 November 2016Some of the buyers here claim that they experience hiss, noise or interference. I can honestly say that I experience none of those even at high volumes.Now that my ears got used to its sound (they call it speakers burn in) I wholeheartedly say that these are great speakers that are more than worth £38 that I paid.
