Celestron Upclose G2 8X40 Porro Binocular

I am using a Celestron 20x80 for astronomy. That’s absolute stunning in performance but typically made for really remote objects and for people with strong arms :). This little guy is just perfect for nature and birds where you can see something and now you need to see with higher clarity. The 8x40 is lightweight, super easy to adjust and focus. The quality can be felt through the touch and optics. I would recommend this to even beginners. It’s not that pricey compared to nature dx series. Go for it!

This is my first Binocular purchase for birding..delivery was quick, packaging was bad..no bubble wrap etc. Overall look is good, can be hand-held with comfort, coating looks good. Quality of binocular strap and binocular bag looks and feel very cheap Objects looks sharp, focusing is good, little blurred at the edges. Overall looks like a good piece for beginners and good return on your investment Will post more review on performance after my upcoming birding tour. P.S. Product is made in China

Got the initial product damaged due to transit. But seller replaced and it is excellent to use. Good optics and I use it for astronomy

Packaging review: An year ago, I ordered a 10×50 g2 upclose. It came in the worst kind of packaging and the item box is torn up totally. Moreover, behind the diopter there was a big crack. I returned it immediately. A week ago, I ordered an 8×40 G2 up close (April 9th 2023). Again the packaging came in worst condition. Felt like a used product by looking at the item cover box. It says the manufacturing was sept 2022, but the condition of the box felt like 2018. The packaging seems to be always a problem with both the seller and celestron company. There is no extra shock protection inside. It travelled all the way from Delhi to Chennai and guess what, one of the objective lens is detached and sent. I thought it was broken. It was infuriating, but Somehow I managed attach it to the main body using the internal threading it has. For 4000 rupees I thought I should not complain. But hey, it's celestron. The budget friendly product. No matter how much the product actually values, packaging must be taken care by the sellers. That's how we value them. We all know how the transportation and delivery can break the items inside. There is no "Fragile item inside. Handle with care on the outside of the Amazon Packaging. For this I give Amazon Packaging: 2 stars Seller care: 2 stars Celestron company packaging: 2 stars Binoculars review: Quality wise it's in between an OK product and a Great product, especially at this cost. If you are a beginner you will be in that Awe moment. I personally think 8×40 or 8×42 are all rounders. The issues I have with especially with celestron are: 1. Not truly multi coated as they claim. 2. Not sufficient exit pupil 3. Poor Internal build 4. Not water proof The good things about celestron are 1. Budget friendly and good lenses 2. Good for professional use 3. Light weight (8×40 vs 10×50 huge difference) 4. No chromatic abberation. 5. Good external build 6. Good lens protection caps. It fits. 7. You could see upto 6.3 magnitude stars in the darkest sky. Seeing magnitude 7 and 8 in this is impossible. So I decided to keep mine. Overall it's a good deal.

It is best for amateur birders. Firstly i decided to buy Olympus 8*40 dpsi binocular but due to low budget I could not able to buy it. Then I got this bino and loved it. It focuses easily and clear due to multi coated lens. It has everything which an amateur birder looking for. If you want to buy cheaper binocular in starting then go for this. Cheaper and best.

The box was compressed and I knew this was a used product passed on, contents had just been stuffed in by whoever returned it. The seal was broken, manual had food stains. Unbelievable! Regardless, it is a horribly cheap piece of plastic. One look at it and you can tell. It is poorly made. Lenses seem of poor quality with coating wearing off, while the focusing mechanism is smooth, you can never get a clear image. The vision is blurry at the edges. Frustrating to use and an absolute waste of money.

Value for money, easy to use and handle..Loved it.

Nice entry level binoculars made well, nice carrying case. Excellent for birding. I would definitely get a sturdier more comfortable neck strap.

imballo super protetto, spedizione nei termini previsti... come sempre grande Amazon. Binocolo di ottima luminosità e chiarezza, ottima la senzazione di solidità e presa, è stabile e facile da regolare. L'ingrendimento 8X che ho scelto per un uso domestico e sportivo è l'ideale e la grandezza e il peso del binocolo è giusta per portarlo con me in vacanza grazie anche alla comoda borsa con tracolla in tessuto imbottita per il trasporto.

私は双眼鏡を使うのが初めてではありませんが、多くの双眼鏡を見比べたことがあるわけではないので、光学性能の良し悪しは正直よくわかりません。 なので作りについての報告のみしたいと思います。 安いのでしょうがないですが、やっぱり見た目は安っぽいです。でも今どきの双眼鏡は高級品も外装は樹脂やゴムなので大差ないかもしれません。もちろんMade in Chinaです。 プリズムボックスとそれを繋ぐアームは一体構造でアルミ製です。しかし接眼レンズが付いているアームはプラスチック製です。接眼レンズを押したときのたわみは金属製より大きいです。たわめば当然ピントがズレます。 しかしメリットもあります。金属だと強い力が掛かって曲がったら曲がったきりですが、プラなら元に戻ります。一長一短ですね。 ピントリングの回転は柔らかめかもしれません。もう少し固くてもいい気がします。 右の接眼レンズに付いてる視度調整リングと左右を繋ぐヒンジの回転はしっかり固く、簡単にズレてしまうようなことはありません。これは良い。 目当てはメガネ使用時は折りたたむタイプのゴム製で、接眼レンズ枠をすっぽり覆う形で被せてあります。 これにはちょっとお粗末なところがあります。右の目当てには視度調整のための「＋ 0 -」という印があり、アームには指標があるのですが、なんとその目当てが接眼レンズ枠に固定されていずヌルヌルとエンドレスで回ってしまうのです！それじゃ意味が無い！印が無くても調整に支障無いとはいえ、お粗末すぎます。 ゴムを少しめくってみたら外せそうだったので外してみて理由が分かりました。一応接着剤らしきものが塗ってあるのですが、極悪品質でヌルヌルベタベタしてるだけで全く接着できていなかったのです！ありえない！左右共です。さすがの中華クオリティ(笑)。 レンズはマルチコートを謳っていますが、全ての面にコーティングしてるわけではないようで、白く明るい反射が見えます。プリズムは無コートです。鏡筒内の内面反射対策もあまりなされていないようで、なんと白い接着剤が使われていたりします。黒い接着剤でもコスト変わらないでしょうに。 プリズムがローコストなBK7だと射出瞳がケラレると言われます。本機は確かにケラレが確認できますが、極わずかです。これならほとんど影響無いのではないでしょうか。 仕様表にはWater Resistantとありますが、IPコードは書いてないのでどの程度かは不明です。おそらく防滴程度ではないでしょうか。窒素封入はありません。 レンズキャップは対物接眼どちらも紛失防止の工夫のないシンプルなキャップ。しかもユルユルですぐ外れる。失くしてくれと言わんばかりのキャップです。 三脚アダプター取り付け部のカバーもネジ留めではなくパチッとはめてあるだけなので、付け外しを繰り返せば緩くなってくると思われますし、小さいのでレンズキャップよりさらに失くしやすいです。 ストラップは幅9mmの平紐という最低限の物。首に食い込むので他の幅広のを付けました。 ケースも安っぽいです。オマケってところ。 取説に日本語はありません。日本の代理店であるアーキサイト社のチラシが入っていて、日本語の取説はウェブサイトでダウンロードできると書いてあるのですが、行ってみたところ本機のような安物の取説はありませんでした(笑)。もっとも取説なんか不要ですが。 本機はエントリークラスなので、上級機よりローコストな作りなのは当然でしょう。なので問題は「この価格としてはどうなのか」ですが、最初に書いた通り私は多くの双眼鏡を見比べたことがあるわけではないので判断できません。セレストロンは天体望遠鏡という専門性の高い世界で有名らしいので、安物とは言え変な物は出さないだろうと思っておくことにします(笑)。 ただし、目当ての接着剤だけは論外ですね。いくら安物でもありえない。
