Great Rearview Mirror - Robust and Viewing Angle is Just Right
Found this very easy to mount atop our boat's windshield with its thick (maybe an inch and a quarter) SS frame. Love not having to turn around and crane my neck all the time looking to see if other boats are approaching from the rear. We're not towing skiers or tubes, but from the nice viewing angle provided, I could see this would be very useful for that, as well. When we leave our boat we typically snap on our cockpit cover. The mirror must be demounted. Removing the mirror and stowing it takes but a few seconds, and it is strong / sturdy. I've inadvertently dropped it couple of times on the deck next to the helm: no problem. It's also very easy to modify the viewing angle so that (if you shift from sitting down to standing up, for example), making small adjustments is simple: there seems to be just the right amount of friction required so that it doesn't move when you don't want it to - but does when you do. Definitely recommended

Very pleased w/this mirror!
I purchased this and installed it on a Malibu Response ski boat. I had the original mirror installed since I bought the boat (~ 10 years ago). The original mirror was the same size but hung so low on the windshield frame it was somewhat in the way. Not only that but I had to drill holes in the metal to put in the original mirror. After looking and reading reviews about this mirror I decided to try it out. Now I'm mad at myself for not making this investment years ago. The mirror mounts effortlessly w/three control points (one secures it to the windshield and the other two allow for unlimited mirror adjustments) to ensure it can be adjusted exactly as you need it. The smaller spacer bars (It comes w/3) were needed for my windshield and the product would not have worked w/out it. I'm so pleased w/this I've ordered another one for the second boat (Chaparral) that we have as it doesn't have a mirror. The mirror provides good rear vision w/out obstructing your front vision. Since it sits above the windshield it will obviously need to be adjusted for trailer covers.

Hit it and watch it at the same time for the driver. Great for checking on things from behind as you watch where your going.
It is large so you can easily see everything going on. I wanted this due to some spotters don't remember to say "Down!" with authority and I have kids and kids friends who I need to adjust launch speed based on their weight and ability to get up on water skis and boards and we run in busy waters so keeping an eye out for other boats including those fishing with 100 ft lines on planner boards out the sides keeps you on your toes. First time out we went out and had solid 1.5 "walleye" chop and I had no problem seeing everything. Mounted with the mirror above my windshield and far left of my side of the console and I could navigate w/o any viewing issue and I could see everything going behind me using the mirror unless a slalom skier went way wide but could still see the rope was tight and upright. I think that last bit is why they have the extreme version and for me I don't need the extreme extents as I can move my head or just confirm via the rope they are still upright. For being so large I expected more vibration to be transmitted and causing problems seeing but that wasn't the issue. I know CIPA supplies for John Deere and mirrors on our tractors are great and they get vibrations and bouncing around. Neighbor just purchased towing mirrors that slide on and off in under a min so I was glad to report this comp mirror is even better then I was hoping for. Pricing was WAY better then my local marine dealer. I expect to pay more but when I was quoted $75 and I was less then 1/2 I couldn't justify that kind of mark-up for something they had to order in. Would be nice.... Box is very sturdy but to keep the setting I need to find a travel case for this mirror to avoid breaking or scratching. I wrapped in a cloth and found a spot for now but will have a padded case made or purchase if I find one close. Knobs are really large so easy to turn tight and textured finish on painted metal is great. no glare from the mirror other then the mirror itself.

Love this mirror.
Pros: This was a great addition to the original mirror on my 86โ MasterCraft ProStar, which I also replaced with this same mirror without the mounting bracket. The large size is all the more reason to consider this mirror. I purchased two of these mirrors and combined you can really see whatโs happening behind the boat. My wife and I ski alone and she loves the fact she can now see me on both sides of the boat during my slalom runs. The manufacture, CIPA has been around a long time and manufactures quality products. CIPA also offers a good selection of mounting brackets and hardware for this mirror. I read other reviews that had problems or trouble with installing this mirror but I experienced no problems or fault with the design. Ease of installation, quality construction and price make this a worthwhile purchase. I highly recommend this mirror. Cons: None

Too Big
Didn't realize how big it was till I got it. Too big for me, we have a 20 foot center console. I had to return it for a smaller model. The quality of the item seems to be top notch. One can quickly tell it is well made and sturdy. The only thing I think would be an improvement is if the mirror was a little more wide angle/convex.

Huge wonderful view. Hardest part was where to mount it.
Needed and wanted a good rear view mirror for pontoon boat, pulling water toys and noting overtaking boats from behind among reasons. Friends recommended this mirror. I see why literally. Expansive view. Convex real good, enough to give more view without lots of distortion. Little shake or vibration and mount hardware included is quite stout. Hardest part was figuring where to mount. On friends boat supports for top extend past driver console and used that. Not an option on my SunTracker 18โ dlx. After sitting in driver seat it occurred to try using the Bimini top front support bar. Clamped right on and plenty adjustment to get view behind showing plenty deep and wide. In photos attached can see view from driver seat, look in mirror behind which covers full width of rear and view from rear with mirror again overhead on right side above and forward of driver. Just a glance up and see all, hardly a tilt of head. Loving it. Only downside is useable only with Bimini top up and open but itโs hardly down during the season and clamp easy on/off. Recommend highly as long as you can pick a good mounting spot.

Big and Super Functional
When I ordered this mirror I mistakenly thought it was the 4 x 11 size, so when it showed up I was surprised by the large size. However, after using it a few times to tow wakeboarders I'm glad I kept this one. I also ordered the 4 x 11, which was inferior in almost every way (see my review of that one) so I sent it back. First, the 7 x 14 size is big enough that you can see most of what's going on behind you between both wakes. I can even see them get outside a bit. Second, the mounting bracket and adjustment capabilities of this one over the CIPA 4 x 11 are vastly superior. The back is a ball type socket so you get full range of adjustment like a car mirror. There's a knob for tightening it up once you have it where you want. The height can be adjusted up or down as well with a different knob for larger adjustments. It clamps securely to the top of the window and is super easy to take off when you're done towing people. I store mine in the box when I'm not using it. I even forget to put it up sometimes and it's easy enough to do with one hand while I've actually got someone up behind the boat. I mount mine on the middle window usually so it's not blocking my forward view. Even on the driver window, it's not really that much in the way. The build quality seems solid and I expect it to last for many seasons.

Good quality mirror for your boat
For the money, this is a decent mirror. Like others have said, getting a larger mirror like this is key. Great visibility all around the back of the boat. It helps with wakeboarding, tubing, or anything else. A couple areas where I think this can improve: The shims that come with it are hard plastic, and they can leave marks on softer materials or chrome. A soft rubber contact piece would be ideal. The knob and fixture for securing the mirror is plastic. Having this be a stronger material, since it will receive the most use, would be better. This has limited swivel, and it would be great if it had a bigger degree or rotation to work in more applications.
