Works great for my home ice machine. Perfect size. The scoop end fits perfectly for the opening of cups reducing spilled ice when compared to other scoops. Because it’s soft plastic, it doesn’t easily break. Very nice solution.

Update on September 28, 2016: It's been a year and this scoop is still going strong. I've been using it in my freezer for ice and it works great. I've since bought another one that I use for flour, and it's good too, though it doesn't see nearly as much use or stress as my ice scoop. This is a great product. Original Review: Originally, I was hesitant to purchase this scoop for ice, when there were similarly priced metal scoops available. After all, I thought, isn't metal better than plastic? Plus, this scoop has an odd egg-like shape, different from how ice scoops usually look. There's no need to reinvent the wheel! I just needed a regular old ice scoop. However, after reading the reviews for the metal scoops, the cheap ones all seem to have quality problems (perhaps that's not surprising; how can you sell a good metal scoop for $5 or $6?). Unlike the cheap metal scoops, this one has spectacular reviews. I decided to trust my previous reviewers and buy it. I'm glad I did! The quality of this scoop is great and I totally love it! Pros: 1) The scoop's egg-like shape is because it's narrow at the end and curved in such a way that it can actually be poured with quite a bit of precision. The scoop's end easily fits inside of drinking glasses, so there's never any ice on the floor. If you're using it for something different, like rice or flour, I think you'll also appreciate the more precise pours you can make with this scoop, compared to a typical wide-mouthed scoop. 2) The scoop holds approximately one cup. When used for ice, a full scoop usually gives me exactly the amount I want in a large 21 oz. glass. I use a lot of ice in my drinks, so it's likely most people using this as an ice scoop will never need more than one scoopful in their beverages. 3) The plastic is smooth and the handle feels nice in my hand. 4) Since it's plastic, it can be left in the freezer or an ice bucket without getting uncomfortably cold to touch. 5) It's BPA free (I don't see anything about this on the Amazon listing, but OXO says it's BPA free on their website). Cons: I can think of no cons for this product. I've only been using it for a month so far, so I'll update my review if I encounter any problems with durability. I love this scoop and would recommend it to anyone.

I recently bought a pebble ice maker and all of its reviews said the metal ice scooper it came with will scratch the plastic ice bin. After looking at various plastic scoops, I choose this one. Oxo is a well known brand, and I have always been happy with their other kitchen utensils which I have purchased in the past. The scoop is a good size, a little on the smaller size but not too small. It fits into the ice bin well and scoops out a good amount of ice each time. It feels sturdy, and is easy to clean. I haven't put it in the dishwasher yet, but it is advertised as dishwasher safe. After I clean up the ice maker, the scoop fits in the bin which makes it handy to store. I have small hands and the handle is a little short even for me. If you have large hands, it might be a little awkward to use. I like it!

Great for bottom freezers with the ice tray. Eliminates kids/adults using their dirty hands to grab ice. Small enough in size to not obstruct anything and just sit in the ice. Flexes fine too so you don’t miss with the cubes while dumping.

Upon arrival to our home, this scoop appeared as though it might be too large for our needs. - NOT SO! It is just the right size for transferring a generous scoop of ice into a drinking glass without "spillage" outside of the glass... and we have rather NARROW rimmed drinking glasses, might I add. We keep our OXO GOOD GRIPS SCOOP inside of the ice bucket housed inside of our freezer. It makes ice dispensing more sanitary, and the handle on this OXO scoop is much easier to use than our previous metal scoop; doesn't stick to wet hands or cause "frosted" fingers" while in use. I love mine so much that I purchased one for my sisters' home (as I am often called upon to fill the glasses with ice during family dinners). Simple premise, but so essential to our "high traffic" freezer ice bucket. 10 YEAR UPDATE: Still loving the functionality and quality construction of this OXO "simple scoop". It rests inside of the pull-out drawer of our LG's bottom freezer section - handily at-the-ready atop a mountain of ice stowed inside our oversized ice bucket. The scoop itself may appear kinda flimsy in appearance, however it is a workhorse, having withstood many instances in which users have actually used the clear edge to break apart some rather intimidating "clods" of ice cubes that had inexplicably melded inside the ice bin! This device was such a good buy, I even gifted my sister one of these for use in her freezer (to avoid exposure to others possibly unscrupulous hand hygiene).

I use these to scope ice cubes. These are perfect for scooping ice cubes. I like the shape, the size, and the handle, which is not cold to the touch.

Absolutely great as an ice scoop. It would work well for other products. It has a comfortable handle and is slightly flexible.
