Easy contraption, but So helpful
When I received this, I thought "really, that's it?". (It's such a simple thing - blue stretchy stuff, plus a white funnel type thing.) BUT when I put it on my son's cast, and hooked it up to the vacuum, he was SO thrilled!! This REALLY does provide the relief someone in a cast is looking for! It moves the air, creating a cooler and drier environment inside the cast. It is instant relief, and brought a smile to my son's face (and he's not a smiling kid in general). :-) He had been complaining of "stinging" and itching (inside of his cast - probably because he gets sweaty), and he says that this completely relieves it. Yay!! Maybe I didn't read the description, or maybe I just missed something in what I was reading, but... I didn't realize that this needed to be hooked up to a vacuum. It's a bit fiddly to have to hold the vacuum hose to this, and obviously it's loud (hearing your vacuum humming while you have this on your cast), but IT'S WORTH IT. P.S. This company ships quickly and provides excellent customer service. I wish I wouldn't have paid extra for faster shipping - it would've shipped out (and arrived) ASAP regardless. Plus, Amazon had a bit of a glitch with the shipping speed. As I placed the order, it said it would arrive on Saturday (with 2 day shipping). After the order was placed, it said it would arrive on Monday (with 2 day shipping). I was NOT happy about that. I talked with the CastCooler people the next morning - they were VERY nice and helpful (and they had already shipped it out) - and they said it's an Amazon glitch (with telling the date it would arrive with my 2 day shipping). So bummer on Amazon on that one. But it was still worth the price, because the CastCooler is THAT good.

LOVE IT! Helped keep cool and prevent smell and itching.
I was a little hesitant after reading some reviews about how thin or cheap it seems, it don’t let that fool you. It was the BEST investment made during our daughters time in a cast. No problem trying to stick stuff in cast to scratch, this kept her skin dry so it rarely itched. We took a handheld vacuum on vacation with us (harder to use, but a lifesaver in 90deg heat). When connected to regular vacuum, able to move (or play on tablet) without problems, very easy to use! Her cast had faint odor when it was removed, not the typical smell I was expecting. I recommend this to anyone that has a cast! It is a little pricey, but well worth it to us. (I don’t know how some people get discount for review, but I paid full price.... this thing is worth it)

Warning Dangerous
I got this for my nine year old daughter after she broke her elbow and was in a full arm cast. She needed surgery and had a small incision and a pin. I had just held a vacuum cleaner hose up against the cast to cool it when I saw this product. 4 days after her surgery the CastCooler arrived. We used it on her cast for 3 minutes and when I took it away from her cast, it had pulled blood through her cast and into the vacuum cleaner hose. The CastCooler put too much pressure on her stitches and opened them up. I would not recommend this product for use on any cast where surgery was involved.

Worth every penny
Bought this product after breaking my hand and placed in a hard cast well above my wrist. Had plenty of cast in the past and they always turn up smelling horrible after sweating in them from trying to stay active. This product works as advertised and I use it after working out for 10-15 minutes. It completely drys the cast out an eliminates potential odors. If you are an athlete or just a weekend warrior and like to still try and stay active even though you have a cast, get this product. Feels great too, like putting your arm in a wind tunnel. However, I would warn if u have open wounds under the cast like pins in the bone, I'd recommended letting those heal before using this as it could potentially open those wounds. A+++++

This is really facinating...
I have for my hubby's fiberglass cast from ankle surgery that goes up just short of his knee. His latest one is a walking cast is is more snug than it's predecessor. As such, it get a lot warmer and itchier. I took a chance on one of these because the itch was waking him up in the middle of the night. He was surprised, it works! It's an odd sensation to feel the cool inside the cast but welcome none the less. He says it's pretty localized so, he use it in several places (maybe because the cast is a bit snug). The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I think it puts a pretty heavy load on a regular vacuum cleaner. I have a Dyson that I connect to it and it strains it quite a bit. A shop vac would be better but, he doesn't really want to drag it in or, go sit in the garage to use it instead of the dyson. That aside, this was well worth the money. He's an adult but, I can imagine this would make kids much more comfortable with their casts and minimize their poking stuff down their casts to deal with the itch.

Wonderful relief
My 12 yr old son broke his arm during the hotter months. After a few days of having the cast on he began to complain about the itching. We both got little sleep. He was also outside a lot by the ball fields since he broke it during baseball season and he is a ball player. It was impossible trying to keep him away. We were worried about all the dust in the cast. The cast cooler offered him immediate relief from the itching and it cooled it right away. He was so so excited when it was first put on. I felt it helped with the dirt and dust inside the cast because of the vacuum system. We used our hose attachment which is quite powerful. I woul definitely recommend this product. After we began using it every night before bed, my son and I finally slept again. It really does relieve the discomfort by putting air through the cast. My son described it as its like in the spot where it is on, it like there is no cast. My only recommendation for the company is to make a bigger one. My son had a full arm cast and we had to keep moving it up the arm to get the full arm done. But its an awesome product.

Life Savor!
I broke my wrist the week before Christmas, and was put in a short arm cast. I run at least 3mi on the treadmill daily, and as you know you can’t get your cast wet. I was blow drying my cast post run for almost an hour making the whole experience miserable. My Dyson was exponentially better but this overpriced piece of vinyl disperses the air to make it a much much shorter drying experience. I just take the hose off of my Dyson pop in the flexible plastic and wrap the vinyl around my cast. You can tell when it’s dry because the airflow isn’t as cool anymore. With the other methods I would walk away thinking it was dry and then realize it wasn’t. Super annoying, they really should just pass these out when you get your cast. I am on week 2 with my cast and 1 week using it and my cast doesn’t smell. :) Could you make it? Probably if I had two hands. :)

Desperate times, desperate measures
For what it is, this is incredibly overpriced. I knew that when I purchased it. However, it does function as intended WHEN you can get it to stay in place. The ability to apply this device one handed is impossible. You have to have someone else assist you if you have a broken hand/arm. It has to be physically held down during the entire duration of use. It has nothing to secure it to the cast. It works amazing if you can get it to stay in place, but I wouldn't recommend purchasing this device if you have a cast on your arm and nobody readily available or willing to frequently assist you. I do have buyers remorse and regret the purchase. A little more thought should have been put into how this device is going to be held on an arm cast with one hand free. I suppose if you are using this on your leg it would be more feasible and worth it.

but if you look at as a 'device' it's bloody brilliant. It is worth the money
Yes, it is overpriced if you literally consider the price of the components and what it might cost to make; but if you look at as a 'device' it's bloody brilliant. It is worth the money? Yes! Really helps with the itching and cast surprisingly feels fresh. This is the first time I've felt compelled to write a review, because when considering this as a purchase you might get put off by the 'not worth the money' reviews - I nearly was - but it's worth it for the benefits you get and there simply isn't another alternative that is as effective.

Stops the smells and itching brilliantly
My wife broke her wrist and had several casts over a twelve week period. She broke her wrist whilst out running and didn't want to stop running even with a cast on, but as you might imagine, the cast really smelled bad after the first two weeks, so I bought her the CastCooler to use with her second (and subsequent) casts and it made the world of difference. Not only did it cool her arm down and remove the sweat from under the cast extremely efficiently, I understand the sensation was very satisfying and prevented much of the itching associated with the first cast when she had no CastCooler to use.

Very expensive for a useless bit of plastic
Very expensive for a simple bit of plastic and does not dry cast

Will put a smile on your face :-)
I cannot recommend the CastCooler highly enough. As some have said before it's not cheap for a piece of vinyl and plastic but in my mind it's worth every penny for the relief it provides. I broke my leg a few weeks ago, it is hot, itchy and uncomfortable in a cast. I have tried using a hairdryer on a cool setting, it helped a little, when I saw this I had to give it a go even though I was feeling a little cynical, when it arrived I strapped it on and the feeling of relief was immense, my mum said that I looked like a kid at Christmas :-)
