In a Reverie

This is amazing stuff. It's also very hard to classify Lacuna Coil, it's Metal with an interesting twist. Very original stuff here. It's very moody, inspirational, and very well crafted music. Lacuna Coil is a very experienced group of musicians, and it shows on this release. "In A Reverie" is an excellent place to start for first time listeners as well... It will be one of the best, and most interesting purchaces you'll make IMO. I know I was floored when I first heard Lacuna Coil. It's a very impressive release from start to finish, and doesn't contain one bad track if you ask me. In fact, all of their releases are masterpieces from start to finish.... Lacuna Coil Rules!!!

This album has a lot of creativity, energy, and heart. Christina Scabbia sings like an angel. I know that's a tired simile, but listen to the CD and you'll get the idea.

Lacuna Coil is one of the main members of the new wave of progressive metal that features crunching guitars, epic songwriting and powerful female vocals. Similarities to bands like Evanescence and Stream Of Passion are very evident. "Reverie" was the band's first full length album and shows the promise that this band would go on to bigger and better things. Overall the album is somewhat evident of a band in search of a sound. They try different things here and there and to me this is a good thing. I honestly wish they would do more of this with their later material, as lately they have really locked themselves into a formula. The band is Italian and all of the lyrics here are in English. Christina has a definite accent to her vocals that would be polished up significantly on later releases. The songs are for the most part good. Highlights include "Circle", "Stately Lover", and the title track "Reverie". Epic sounding metal with just a hint of progressive rock. The band would go on to do better albums, but this one was a very good debut.

I could listen to it all day long. Nice laid back sound good variety. Good variety of songs - should definately be part of your LC collection.

In a Reverie One of the Coil's Best CDs. However, I was disappointed when I recieved it and found it to be the rerelease and not the original.

Great album

A lot of classical influences in this young ladies vocal which is nice but I would like to hear more PERSONALITY in her voice as opposed to just TECHNIQUE. The music is good but after a while it all starts to sound the same. I'd say this is better then the last Album I bought so I'll give'em a little credit for moving a little closer to a mainstream appeal. Songwriting is a skill that can be used as a vehicle to reach more people with your message and sometimes people think that GOOD commercial songwriting is selling out. Well I guess it is if you don't like being poor. I think it's so LAME when people whine about underground bands being so much better then mainstream um..."SUCCESSFUL" bands. The reason they are successful automatically makes them better at being a band in the first place simply because it offers more exposure to the genre. If you really want to get technical about the difference between mainstream music and Goth then let us get down to the nitty gritty hear and narrow down where GOTH actually came from. Classically influenced and this overly intellectualized genre was born of eclectic rebels that keep trying to shove it underground. News FLASH...we all know what Goth is now folks. Get over it. Renaissance is by far a much better band then Lacuna Coil or Evanescence. Musicianship is the key to this comparison. The classically trained skills of Renaissance over shadow the weak attempt that Lacuna makes at being technically superior and the attempt to blend metal into the mix is done WAY better by Evanescence. Regardless who came first...uh..RENAISSANCE, the fact of the matter is that all three bands stand on there own merits. Personally I can't stand the guys voice in this band and if he just shut up and sang backup the band would be far better. I also would like to hear more CHUNK in this band. The guitar tones are DATED and quite frankly don't give the metal and MEAT I'm looking for. If I want to hear true beauty of the kind of vocals Lacuna and many of the other UNDERGROUND bands I've listened to, all I need to do is drop in some Carl Orf or any other classical SIREN that blows all these girl singers away technically. What I am looking for that is rare to find is a band that rocks hard with a vocalist that not only soars over the top with grace and beauty but I'd like to FEEL the message they are attempting to broadcast to my heart. Haven't found it yet.

Das Debüt gehört meiner Meinung nach immer noch zu den besten Werken der Band. Ein etwas kürzeres Album, aber dafür haben die Songs auch eine sehr gute Qualität. Bis auf Veins of Glass gefallen mir alle Lieder sehr gut. Sehr schöne Melodien kombiniert mit der fantastischen Stimme von Christina Scabbia. An Tagen wo es einem seelisch nicht besonders gut geht, kann man bei diesem (und den beiden Nachfolger-Alben) wunderbar gesungene Musik mitfühlen und auch mitsingen.

Bought this for my boyfriend as a gift, it was neatly packaged and arrived on time. He loved it, it was a bit beaten around the edges, but for the price, good condition.

Lacuna Coil is awesome. I started listening to them after Headbangers Ball. It is only recently that I decided to go back to their early work. Turns out they have been awesome from the beginning. Great debut album.
