This is a very good, very reasonably priced tool. It does two things - it lets you set the tension on the bottom bracket bearings when the cranks are installed (small 8-sided side of the tool), and lets you remove and replace the bottom bracket bearing cups (the other, large diameter side of the tool). It's for the normal Shimano Hollowtech II bottom brackets - my bottom bracket was a ten year old Shimano Tiagra 4500 BB, and it fitted that perfectly. I only used it to unscrew the cups, as I was replacing them. I replaced them with a Shimano BBR60, which needs a smaller diameter tool, but I was able to fit the plastic adaptor supplied with the BBR60 into this tool by carefully filing off a thin amount of the exterior of the plastic adaptor and then easing it into this tool with a bit of help from a plastic mallet, and so was able to properly torque up the new BBR60 via an 8 mm hex socket on my tortque wrench.

I was not interested in paying 20 bucks for a tool to remove my bottom bracket. An 8 mm hex key (allen wrench) is all you need to tighten it down. Would be nice to have a direct drive for a torque wrench, but then again applying precise torque is not necessary for this application. The back side actually has the adjusting cap adapter for Hollowtech, which is why it does not take a socket drive. I actually just used a T50 torx socket which matches pretty well to an 8 mm hex key. Can't beat it for 7 bucks.
