This book easily deserves five star, but I’m deducting one due to the grammatical and spelling errors in the initial part. SPOILER (maybe) : The book isn’t an easy read. At times it might feel overwhelming like reading someone's racing thoughts one by one, but trust me, it’s worth the effort. In short it's a story of a man who is at war with his own mind (just like other Dostoyevsky's novel) If you want a cleaner edition, go for the Penguin Classics, as it doesn’t have these issues.

Profoundly Nihilistic I must say... In Notes from Underground, Dostoevsky anticipates the emergence of a modern archetype—men alienated by the rationalist and utilitarian spirit of their age, repelled by everything about the prevailing "Weltanschauung" of the modern world. Through his protagonist, Dostoevsky foresees a class of men who, unable to reconcile with society’s superficial order which goes against their nature , retreat into isolation and self-awareness—perhaps foreshadowing the existential rebellion that would define later centuries. A good , short insightful read indeed. Cheers.
