MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust Muffler 12289: 3"/3" Inlet/Outlet, 5x8x24" Oval, Stainless Steel, Satin Finish

I’ve been running this MagnaFlow muffler on my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee for a good while now, and it’s been rock-solid. No rust anywhere — even after wet roads and heat cycles. The stainless steel just picked up that light golden and blue tint from exhaust temps, which is totally normal. Welds and seams still look tight with zero corrosion. Sound-wise, it hits that sweet spot: deep and smooth without being obnoxious. Around town it’s mellow, but when you get on the throttle it’s got a clean growl that sounds legit — not like a coffee-can. It could use some drone control because on the highway there’s a little bit of drone around 2k RPM, so adding a small resonator near the tailpipe would probably make it perfect. If you’re after a muffler that lasts, has great flow, great performance, resists rust, and actually sounds like quality stainless steel instead of tin foil, this one’s a solid buy.

Had my local muffler guy install this for $120, and it was the right choice. Ford tuned these ecoboost engines to be super quiet and i wanted a little more exhaust sound to cover up the sound of moving metal parts, like a giant obnoxous prius. They tuned the turbo whistle super high so most people couldn't hear it, but i could and it was driving me crazy. This exhaust added a nice deep tone and lowered the turbo whistle into a less ear splitting range. It sounds very very good for a v6, nothing like a v8, but something all together different and unique. The long body design leads to no cabin drone and the strait through flow reduces back pressure and gives it a nice throaty turbo noise. There is a hint of tinnyness to the rattle some times but its very minimal and could be fixed with a tuned tip. I have been getting nods of approval from other F150 drivers since installing this muffler, and the minimal performance and mileage are just a bonus.

Exactly what I was looking for on my cammed 5.3 chevy. Had a 18" magnaflow for years, but the cam swap made it super noisy sitting in city traffic & gassing it at all beyond 2.5k rpm. Simple diy install with flux core welder. Used 3" pipe, 3" i.d. adapter, band clamp for y pipe, cut pipe to attach a turndown. True off road exhaust that leaves room for bigger spare tire. Easy removal. Had to mock up the exhaust hangar & tack weld with muffler on jack stand

Great sound, it's not overbearing. Easy to replace yourself, I can notice a slight difference in power and acceleration and it does flow better than OEM muffler.

Magnaflow mufflers have a great note. It’s but too loud when around town but can still roar when you get on the loud pedal. I put this one on a 5.7l Hemi. The rest of the exhaust is stock with cats and retaining the factory resonator. The resonator could be removed to make it louder but it’s pretty good like this. Good low growl. I had it professionally installed.

Installed on my old bronco. Nice deep tone, not too loud and no drone on the highway. Great finish and quality.

Fits perfectly on a 2005 Ford Explorer 4.0 SOHC Eddie Bauer Edition. Cabin drone up to 2k rpm 0%. Over 2k rpm increased by about 10%. Outside rumble increased about 10%, could hardly hear the rumble unless it's a really really quiet street. I would have preferred a louder rumble but love the cabin drone sound.

Bought this Magnaflow muffler for a 2015 Silverado 5.3 with long tube headers, 3 inch Y pipe and tail pipe with no catalytic converters. It sounds just right, not to quite nor loud. Drone is very minimum when cruising at any speed. The only thing I left on my setup was the original resonator which was placed behind muffler. Highly recommend this muffler for those that don't like their exhaust loud. Previously installing this muffler I went with Magnaflow 12259 which it was too loud for me and drone was annoying on cruising speed. Muffler 12259 would be quiet for those who have the original setup and not like mine.
