The Essential Life - 5th Edition

This is a really great reference book if you use essential oils. It provides multiple ways for you to look up information- a quick reference section, by type of oil you’d like to find uses for or by condition you’d like to use oils on. It lays the information out in a clear way that is easy to understand. The pages are colorful and filled with beautiful images. For each single oil, it explains the main things it can be used for and where and how the oil is made. It explains the oils in the blends and their uses. It also has a section that discusses using them as supplements. This book has a nice section of recipes so you can use essential oils in your cooking. It also explains other way to use oils around the house for cleaning and person hygiene. I have been very happy with this book and would definitely recommend it to anyone want to get more out of their essential oils.

This book is an amazing reference and I use it on a daily basis. Making laundry detergent and other cleaning supplies, making homemade skincare, and treating various ailments that occur; my family's life has been changed by the ability to integrate essential oils into every aspect of our health and well-being. I SO appreciate having this book to reference anything and everything I can think of. It not only has various ailments and how to treat them, it has the compositional profile of every "mainstream" (if you can even say that) essential oil and its properties (I.e. If it is antibacterial, antifungal, antispasmodic, an aphrodisiac, etc). I also appreciate the section explaining the different types of molecular structures of essential oils and how that affects what their purpose is, as well as the section on reflexology and explaining in easy-to-understand terms what that is and how to practice it effectively, despite not necessarily being an expert on it. I'd definitely recommend this!

Oh my goodness! You want this book! If you are interested at all in essential oils, this is THE book for you. First of all, it is a hard back book and it has PICTURES!!! You can look up the oil or the medical condition and figure out how to go about dealing with it with the oils. There are recipes or 'concoctions ' as I call them.. lol for making multi-oil rollers or diffusers. <-- I love that part right there. When I pick up this book, I usually settle in with a large glass of sweet tea and a snack , because I will be there a while.

I am new to using Essential Oils and a friend recommended this book to me. She actually let me borrow her copy and I had to have my own before I gave hers back to her. This book has a very lengthy list of ailments and conditions that you can use to find what oils are recommended for that illness. There are illnesses in there I've never even heard of! It's very thorough and extensive. There is also a page for every oil giving data about it, what it can be used for, what other oils it blends well with, etc. It is also extremely informative. There is a very thorough index and plenty of other sections I haven't commented upon. It's a hard back book with glossy pages. Very very nice. It lays flat. Very user friendly.

This book has everything you’ll ever want to know about essential oils, how to use them, where to put them, what conditions they treat. It breaks it down by essential oil and then by ailment. This is my new essential oil go to

A 4-Star Rating: I ordered a used "5th" edition but got a 2nd edition. That's a Seller problem, not a Product problem, and even so, it would have been OK, but the Index in the 2nd edition is off, and looking specific things up is extremely frustrating, especially as the information is scattered throughout the book. I contacted the company and asked if they had a correct index for the 2nd edition, but they do not. I haven't become familiar enough with the book yet to find my way around in it easily and the hunt can be maddening - especially as this is a HEAVY, hard-to-handle book. I have post-it stickies all over the pages and finally just started making myself note-cards. EDIT - I've found that much of the information is vague - a list of oils, but no specific blend or recipe. The recipes that they've actually included are great. A 5-Star Rating: The actual recipes that "The Essential Life" has for making specific blends are dandy. It gets a 4-Star rating because while the Information is GOOD, it's hard to put together into useful blends. I would not return this book - the blend for Nerve Damage has eased my sciatic pain to next-to-nothing, and I've learned a LOT about ailments and oils. I don't know if I would recommend "The Essential Life" as it's so much easier to look up the information online - but if you do get it, make sure you get the 5th edition!

I ordered this book as "used", and it arrived in prestine condition, carefully wrapped with no flaws whatsoever!
