Feels cheap
Content-wise this book is good. A simple, clearly explained first approach to physics. It's on the thin side however and the presentation is a little disappointing. The pages are in black and white and it feels a bit cheap, like a colouring book.

Physics coloring book
The vendor could add some pictures of the inside of the book so that the buyers can get an idea of what to expect when they buy this book. It would be a bad idea to give this to a beginner.

Just what I was looking for....
Thick and complete science encyclopedias like from DK have too much information for a kid. These encylopedias are just sitting on my bookshelves. However, this book has very simplified drawings but enough details for the parents to explain to the kids about the basic concepts of physics. This is actually the first book I could finish with my kid regarding to anything about science. I also bought "my first book about chemistry" and I can't wait to read it with my 9 yr kid. These books will definitely prepare my kid to understand more complete and difficult books on science. You can introduce the concept of action-reaction, speed, acceleration, work, potential and kinetic energy, etc. Some errors that I noticed: Page 15, the correct explation shoud be: The duckie floats because the force of the water pushing up on it is "the same as" the force of gravity pulling it down, and not "stronger than". Page 35, the mickey-mouse-shaped water molecules should look the same for both liquid and vapor, but they look different in the book. Even my kid could point out the weird difference. The chemical structure of the water molecules remains the same. Only their relative distance should differ in the drawings. These are just like the big ones....there are some other vague expressions. Page 40, the atom nucleus should show 6 white balls (protons) and 6 black balls (neutrons). I had to color one of the white balls black to make it correct, unless the writer was intending to show the isotope carbon 13, which I think very unlikely considering the level of the book.
